I am in a few other places, but I am not really active anywhere but here. I'm maeselc on Dreamwidth, maeselcoe on Bluesky, and you can DM me if you want my Discord username as I am very warm and approachable (lie/aspirational) but I really don't understand how Discord works so I am very quiet on there.

I have a neocities that doesn't currently have any navigation so the content isn't actually accessible 🤡 but in theory I will eventually be putting all my fic here as well, because let's all relive the 90s/early 2000s?

I think there's sometimes a bit of a misconception in TOS spaces that a Vulcan's options during pon farr are fuck, kill, or die, but like. correct me if I'm wholly misremembering things, but that's not. actually true. Killing isn't supposed to end pon farr (in TOS canon, at least - idk if they retcon this in later treks). In the event of Spock killing Kirk, what was expected to happen was that Spock would then take T'Pring as his wife and then that would end his pon farr. It was a shock that he could just reject T'Pring! She was expecting that, in the event that Spock won, he would still be forced to take her as a wife - but instead Kirk's death just somehow snapped him out of his fever. And that's why amok time is gay. It's not just because they were rolling around in the sand! It's because the fact that Spock's pon farr ended after Kirk "died" implies either:

a) he came a little (which is gay)

or

b) he was so devastated at the thought that he killed his captain that it broke through the supposedly-unbreakable blood fever (which is really gay)

I am very much a believer in ‘two cakes’ as a fandom approach but there is something that feels a little odd to me about re-blogging a fic concept I’ve posted with an addition tagging someone else and discussing how you might write that fic idea and just not like. Acknowledging me at all as the original poster. Like a little ‘oh fun idea!’ wouldn’t go amiss lol.

You should take some time to read @3liza's post documenting the Phantom Report Bug (which she deserves praise for doing, thank you eliza) and see how fucking broken Tumblr's report tool is. I also want to reiterate something she is once again correct about: no one files bug reports. I have first hand experience working at Tumblr and I remember having to tell web devs on Staff "i saw a post about someone talking about a bug" and they were unaware because no one followed through to file a bug. I have fixed bugs that I saw people posting about that were in my domain (I'm a mobile dev) but were not in the system. No this is not an endorsement of "complain about it enough and eventually someone will see it", this is an endorsement of "file a bug report directly to computer companies and people will most likely read it and probably fix it". I mean it this is not a Tumblr-only thing. I've seen this at every company I've worked for. Just fucking file a bug report please I beg you, software gets complicated and the devs are just unaware that there's a bug until you bring it to your attention. And they want to fix the bug! I promise!
