Surreal honestly, especially sitting between him and everyone else involved who are well accomplished writers and artists. I certainly felt like a magpie; always seen mingling in flocks of other animals trying and failing to fit in. XD

If you are trans*, have chronic illness(es), and have a story in which you felt empowered, powerless, validated, objectified, dismissed, valued, etc. when interacting with medical personnel, I would love to hear you and draw it.

I am creating a comic book to show how trans* patients negotiate agency with healthcare personnel when seeking treatment for their chronic illnesses. While there is plenty written about gender-affirming care, there is an absence about the doubly dismissed chronically ill and transgender community. We rely upon healthcare to manage of our condition(s), but consideration for our transgender identity is rare.

Medical examinations are sensitive for anyone but are doubly sensitive to us. We wonder if our voices are heard, or if we will face retribution if we speak up for ourselves.

This is an opportunity to be heard by the medical community, and find our intersectional community, as we demand an active role in our care.

Participants will be compensated $25 after completion of interview.

If you've seen trivia posts going around, may have seen ones about the baculum, a bone in the penis whose purpose is to help support erections which is present in most placental mammals, including non-human apes, but which is conspicuously absent in humans.

Those posts typically don't go into why this is the case, which is fair enough, since the question is far from settled. However, there are a lot of hypotheses about it, and some of them are pretty fucking wild.

I think my personal favourite is the recently proposed idea that, since soft tissue injuries tend to heal more rapidly and completely than broken bones, a flexible and resilient boneless penis constitutes a reproductive advantage in situations where genital trauma is common, possibly as a result of the development of upright posture rendering the penis more prone to blunt encounters.

Like, imagine humanity's proto-hominid ancestors going "actually, bipedalism is great" and promptly getting whacked in the ding so much that it exerted evolutionary pressure on the morphology of the penis.

One of the important roles Watson has in Sherlock Holmes stories that I don't see mentioned often is that of devil's advocate. He's there to present arguments in favor of the more prosaic theory which goes against Holmes's seemingly unlikely theory.

This is done not just to challenge Holmes and his theory in universe, but also as an opportunity for Holmes (and by extention the author) to explain why Homes is right and Watson is wrong.
