Ok, I’m calling it:

If Maggie says ‘I love you’ first, it will be a whispered “I love you Danvers,” said in a quiet, dark, alone moment. The words will be said softly, almost too softly to be heard, because Maggie has said them before, has felt them before, but it’s never lasted and it’s never felt like this, and she knows the power the words hold. But Alex will hear and they will bring her back from wherever she is and she will hold them in her heart until she can say them back.

If Alex says 'I love you’ first, she will yell “I love you, Maggie,” proclaim it, loudly, in front of everyone, because she has to, because she’s out of time, and because Maggie has to know. And even though the circumstances will be forced, Alex will mean them with her whole heart, with her whole soul, and Maggie, looking across whatever barrier that separates them, will see the truth in Alex’s eyes and she’ll know and she’ll redouble her efforts because she’s not losing her love before she’s said the words back.
