it's so crazy seeing shane and ilya's "casual hookups" stage in live action 3d bc obviously you know reading it they're falling for each other and mrs rachel does the build up so good but ohhhhhhh my god they were fucking falling for each other. it's much clearer and deeper to me why they were both so terrified because its one thing to know YOU'RE catching feelings, it's another thing altogether to know that the person you can never ever be with is falling in love with you too. that's why ilya couldn't even LOOK at shane when they were in russia because it's so immediately clear on both ends like he's spent his entire life masking and denying himself real emotions and vulnerability and still abused by his dad even after making himself hard and convinced that the problem is intrinsic within him and this is as good as itll ever get for him and then here comes doe eyed bambi shane the worst liar in the world who looks at ilya like he hung the moon and stars and sun even when they're still supposed to hate each other. and ilya folds every time even though he lichuhruhlee has everything to lose 50 times over ;-;
