Can I ask why you like such a character as Kavinsky? When he drugged and essentially sexually assaulted Ronan against his will? And then kidnapped a young child and just about killed him? But you seem to be anti Riko when he is just as bad as Kavinsky? Not trying to ostrisze you but trying to understand...

i’m gonna answer this as nicely as i can but like “not trying to ostracize you” when this whole message is very aggressive is kinda making me laugh. originally i wasn’t even going to grace this message with a response becuase i’ve seen some other things going on and it just seems like people are trying to start shit but honestly if i can help people understand why i go hard for this character so i don’t have to keep explaining it that’s fine. this got real long though so uh. yeah. read more!

first off i’m gonna take apart your claims really quickly. he didn’t drug ronan. ronan WILLINGLY took the drugs. (however i will say that uh, if this is one of your reasons for hating K, then i hope you keep that same energy for Andrew Minyard and Nicky Hemmick)

secondly, as a multiple SA victim, it makes me extremely uncomfortable when people refer to K touching Ronan’s back as sexual assault. Everyone may have different definitions of what that exactly means, and i am not justifying the behavior because it’s definitely a boundary that he crossed when he shouldn’t have, but it wasn’t sexual assault. you could say harassment, sure. definitely inappropriate and messed up but it kind of diminishes the term sexual assault to say that someone touching your back is sexual assault. 

i’m not going to try to justify k’s behavior of kidnapping matthew. that’s horrible. that’s not okay. i won’t say it is. however i believe you’re being misleading when you say “kidnaps a young child.” Matthew was a teenager. that doesn’t make it okay, obviously, but that phrasing seems intentionally misleading. 

equating riko, a spoiled abuser, to joseph kavinsky, a heavily implied abuse victim, and canonically mentally ill and drug addicted teenager is very very very VERY disrespectful and honestly just kind of fucking gross. 

i like kavinsky cause i was kavinsky. that was me. at 17, i was doing the same shit kavinsky was that we saw through MOST of TDT- street racing, doing drugs, struggling to find a purpose in life. and to have it say in canon, before he ever did anything wrong, that he doesn’t matter and that he would never matter. that he was nothing? that he was irreedemable? i internalized that heavily. and then i came on tumblr and got messages like these (but honestly this one is so much better, i would get death threats, messages telling me to kill myself, calling me a rape apologist) every. single. day. 

you don’t have to like kavinsky. i don’t care. no skin off my nose. however, if i could ask you to reevaluate WHY you don’t like kavinsky. why is it that we allowed maggie to write a 17 year old, racially coded (see: refugee face), mentally ill and drug addicted teen and tell us that he doesn’t matter, that he’s irreedemable, and in the same breath give a grown adult hitman a redemption arc. 

i have so much i could say on this but this is long as hell as it is. i’ll wrap it up by saying i don’t think i should be demonized (not that you, anon, are doing that) that i found a character that i could see myself in, and refuse to allow maggie’s clear biases to influence the way that she irresponsibly handled a mentally ill teenager.
