Sorry for being gone so long! But I’ve been working on something! I’m taking the first step to making money off what I love doing by selling a short collection of poems on Gumroad. It’s a super simple website to navigate, and any support means the absolute world to me.

Sook-Hee reminds Hideko of her worth after she makes a serious, self-deprecating comment about herself. Although Sook-Hee’s initial purpose for becoming Hideko’s handmaiden was crooked, there are several moments in the film where Sook-Hee is the only person who has ever validated Hideko’s existence. She reminds Hideko that she is not worthless, she is not just an object, and she deserves to be a treated like a person. She especially deserves to see her own self-worth.
