Gods of rabbits and deer, which are quick-footed and wide-eyed and everfrightened. Gods of hearths–each and every one, which look sometimes like cast-iron black cats and dogs which curl up amidst the coals, other times stout and potbellied men and women with embers in their mouth. Gods of kings which wear motley diamonds and foolsgold crowns; gods of farmers who lie down forever in their wheat-shrines and wait with open mouths for rain. Perhaps not large gods. Perhaps not powerful gods. But there are gods for all things in Theoi.
This includes thieves, and gods of luck and nimble-fingered prayers, goddesses of dark shadows which cradle darkhonored men like mothers and, of course, the Nameless Nighthawk, the Matriarch of the thief-gods, so powerful that even her name was stolen from her devotees in an act of pique. And, as is natural for gods, they have their favorites. Champions and acolytes; high priests and blessed ones. The Nameless Nighthawk did not, as a rule, have favorites. This is what most scoundrels and rogues believe, because it makes her apathy to their prayers and many offerings more bearable. They go to the smaller deities–Smoke-and-Shade or Gloambringer; Many Eyes All Blind and the Pursestring Crooner. Those gods love to answer prayers of the talented, the desperate, or merely the interesting. But especially of the faithful, just as all gods do. The Nameless Nighthawk, as a rule, has never cared about those things; and especially never about the faithful.
“The Godsblood Garnet,” says The Nameless Nighthawk, at a quickly chalk-scratched shrine in the brightest part of an otherwise dark alley. Her voice was an absence of silence which merely made the surrounding silences louder. “Make of it an offering.”
Her only priest said to her, “You truly expect me to snag the last remaining miracle of The Martyrmonarch? The Archcathedral is the center of the Allfaith, and you’re insane. I enjoy being a thief, Nighthawk, not a corpse.” The silence-within-the-silence was gone, though, as her presence faded back into the normal muffled sounds of a dirty city alleyway. No one hears the muttered swear except for an alley-cat, and her goddess of stray cats Twitches Tail And Pounce had a standing agreement with The Nighthawk anyway.
Talis did not need to be taught the joy of thievery. He came to it naturally, in the shamelessly sly manner of cats and crows, dipping long and slender fingers into pockets and purses and things left by themselves. He built his first shrine a night after his first tutor began teaching him the proper rites and obeisances to the Brocaded Bear, who had always been patron to his family. He hadn’t known how to dedicate a shrine to a patron that wasn’t the Bear, so he was a clever child and invented a dedication of his own. He drew a steadily clearer shape in shining earrings and golden coins, gave detail and form with embroidered cloths and the reflected candlelight through faceted crystal perfume bottles.
The Nameless Nighthawk, as a rule, has never cared about the talented, the desperate, the interesting, or even the faithful. The Nameless Nighthawk, as a rule, has only cared about a single thing, and this is why she was the Matriarch of the thief-gods. She only cares about results .
“How did you summon me, child?” she whispered to him from a whippoorwill on the window. The boy looked at her with a tilted head, eyes bright with curiosity and the beginnings of cunning.
“Dunno,” he said back.
In the following years, she never taught him the joy of thievery. But she taught him otherwise everything else he knew.

!Find a safe position or place to lay the person down to treat the wound!
Call for help but if there is none or it will take awhile here;
Keep the victim in place, make sure there is no wounds on the spine before lifting the wounded area up to prevent more blood loss
Wash the wound with water or any safe liquid you have
Act quick. Apply pressure to the wound to control bleeding and use a cloth or shirt as a makeshift bandage if you do not have one
Don’t remove bandages/cloth if they become bloody. Keep them on and keep covering the wound
Wrap cloth or dressing around wound tightly, but not too much that they don’t have circulation
Victims status
Prepare to wrap the person in a blanket and elevate their legs as they will go into traumatic shock, only elevate legs if you are sure the spine is not injured or if they have a torso wound
Re assurance, warmth and stay with the person at all times. Make sure they stay awake
Remember ABCDE
Check airway if they are talking or breathing normally they are probably okay. Check to make sure the airway is not obstructed
Monitor breathing, Is the person taking regular breaths? Can you see their chest rising and falling? If the person is not breathing, start mouth to mouth or rescue breathing etc
Check circulation. Apply pressure to any bleeding, then check the person’s pulse at the wrist or throat. Does the person have a discernible pulse? If not, begin CPR. Control any major bleeding.
Look for a disability. Disability refers to damage to the spinal cord or neck. Check to see if the person can move their hands and feet. If not, there may be an injury to the spinal cord. If the person shows signs of disability, you should refrain from moving them
Check for exposure. Look for an exit wound. Check the victim as thoroughly as possible for other wounds that you may be unaware of. Avoid completely undressing the victim before emergency help arrives as this may advance shock
P.S. When medical assistance arrives, be prepared to inform them what you have done so far.
It is very difficult to accurately assess the severity of a gunshot wound based upon what is visible on the victim; internal damage may be severe even in circumstances where the entrance and exit wounds are small.
Keep calm. If you panic you'll cause the victim to panic.
Pressure is key: it stops the flow and contains the blood to help create a blood clot.
If the victim appears to have a spinal cord injury, do not move them unless you absolutely must. If you must move the victim, be sure to keep the head, neck and back aligned.
Avoid blood-borne illnesses. Make sure any open wounds you may have do not come in contact with the victim's blood.
Even with the best first aid, gunshot wounds may be fatal.
Do not put your own life at risk when treating a gunshot victim.
polish government has opened a website for ukrainians seeking safety and trying to cross the ukrainian-polish border:
ua.gov.pl
as of 13:10 polish time, it has been said as many people as possible will be let through the borders. they are also supposed to let through children who do not have passports, as to not divide families.
Gov.pl is a legit website connected to the polish government i use it to look at tax info and school stuff (it has the lessons for the teachers written out) and driving license info. So this is legit!!!
here is the article, it’s a good read that does into detail about “ordinary” people’s experiences being forced into a conservatorship. it’s a horribly violent system.
[image description: screenshot of a news headline that reads, "Britney Spears is free, but 1.3 million Americans still live under strict conservatorships." above this headline is a smiling white woman with facial features usually associated with Down Syndrome. end image description]
"If you wanted to see or speak with Jenny, you had to fill in a permission slip," Mr Martinis said.
"And you had to agree to the rules of visitation. Rule number one: 'You're not allowed to talk to her about the guardianship, because it upsets her.'
"You know why it upset her? She didn't want to be in guardianship."
Cards of the Day: Two of Cups and the Wheel of Fortune
Two of Cups: Unity, Partnership
Wheel of Fortune: Change, Cycle, Inevitable Fate
I read this as there is a change coming, one that is inevitable. However, don't despair. You don't have to do this alone. Everyone has someone backing them up, and that doesn't exclude you. Rely on your friends through this tough time and know that they will back you up when push comes to shove.
You have a Tarot deck! Congrats! But something feels wrong. It’s acting a bit cranky (Yes they can do that!) or just plain feels wrong. Tarot decks are like flypaper, old energy gets stuck to your cards, making readings inaccurate or just downright hurtful. What do you do? Well look no further dear reader, I’ve got the answers for you in these three simple steps: Cleanse, Charge and Rest. So how does it all work? Let’s take a look.
Cleansing:
“But Magis” I hear you ask, “how do you cleanse a Tarot deck? You can’t mean to wash them!” and to that dear reader I say of course not! There are more ways to cleanse things than simply washing them with soap and water! Let’s look at a few:
Meditation
The fastest and simplest way to cleanse your tarot deck is to meditate with it. Hold your tarot cards in your hands and focus on a white light from the sky washing over your cards and over your hands. This white light is cleansing and it is good, allow it to soak into your cards and take the old energy out.
Smoke
This is a great way to cleanse your cards, and it is a simple one too! Don’t worry if you don’t have sage, the normal purifier, there’s others that work incenses too such as (but not limited to!): Sandalwood, Dragonsblood, Evergreen, Frankincense, Lavender, and Rain. Wave your cards over the smoke for 20-30 seconds, imagining the smoke cleansing and purifying the cards.
Shuffle and Knock the top
A tried and true method. Everytime you shuffle your cards before you spread them you are getting the energy to move around, and knocking the top knocks the old energy you just moved and got unstuck right out of the cards! You don’t need to hit the cards with all your strength (that would probably bend the cards!), all you need is one firm knock on the top and boom! Clean cards!
Charging:
Once your tarot cards have all the energy taken out, you need to bring new energy in! These are some of (but not all) the ways to charge your cards:
Moonlight (Especially the Full Moon!) or Sunlight
Ah the full moon, a powerful and easy to use tool. Place your cards on a windowsill on the night of the full moon to charge your tarot cards. You can do this with regular moonlight or even the sun (just be careful not to blanch your cards!) but the full moon is the most powerful.
Smoke (Again!)
The same smoke you used to cleanse can also charge, just focus on them charging the cards instead of cleansing them!
Line Up The Cards in the Correct Order
The cards tell a story, all together they tell the story of the fool on his way to the world card, on his way to creation. To get there he passes many obstacles, just like the rest of us. Connecting the cards realigns their power, allowing them to flow as one. This is a good one to do if your cards are feeling particularly angry or you feel particularly drained doing a reading.
Meditate
This is a go to for any charging quickly. Simply meditate for five minutes or so holding your deck and focusing on positive energy being drawn back into your cards, feel it tingle through your fingertips as it enters the cards. Do this for a quick charge; it’s not suitable for more severe cases.
Shuffle
Shuffling cleanses as well as charges, but it sometimes isn’t enough. Some energy (especially negative energy) is very sticky while some energy isn’t, so shuffling on its own may not be enough to recharge your deck after cleansing it.
Resting:
Yes, cards need sleep too. Tarot dealings, while you may not feel it, take a lot of energy out of you as a dealer and the cards themselves. Every now and then they need a break themselves, and this is the best way how:
Leave them alone!
Easier said than done I know, but sometimes your cards, like humans, get tired and need a break. When that happens, you’ll only get negative outcomes from your cards; you’ll feel tired and annoyed, and just downright drained. When this happens put the cards aside for the day and let them cleanse on a window sill with sunlight or moonlight. They deserve a rest too!
Bonus! A Good Protection Method: Bay Leaves and Crystals
Bay Leaves are great for protection for decks, as they are known to not only remove bad energy, but usher in good energy. Put a few on top of or with your deck in its box or bag to usher in good luck and protection. Crystals can suck negative energy out (clear quartz) or protect from bad energy in the first place (Amethyst, Hematite)! Simply put one on top of your deck after it has been charged, and cleansed and it will provide extra protection.
So there you have it, how to cleanse, charge, and rest a tarot deck. Tarot cards may seem overwhelming but with some practice and a lot of patience, anyone can learn how to use them. Just remember, tarot cards are not as scary as they look. Follow your gut, and don’t forget to cleanse, charge, and rest them.
