Alignment chart of dark academia books, emphasis on the academia. I have read them all and this is my take on it all.

Is the novel a dark academia because it takes place in a school and there are a lot of "dark" themes or is it a dark academia because the atmosphere is grim and the characters are pursuing knowledge.

Also book recommendations, I think people would like the books that fall in the same quadrant.

Harrow the Ninth - Tamsyn Muir: This one is a sequel but the convoluted plot lives in my head rent free and it’s Dark (Goth) Academia.

Bunny - Mona Awad: Lots of allusion to literature and mythology. Also lots of dark, bunnies and swans.

Bottom Left: Takes place in a school that people are trying to survive.

Things that make me believe in magick:

-That warm tingly feeling you get inside used book stores and antique stores

-Being drawn to particular inanimate objects for no discernible reason

-That feeling of inner peace you get every time you look up at the night sky, or step into a forest

- Fairy circles

-The sense of complete and utter bliss when your bare feet hit the sand

-The energy in the air before a storm

-Forests with a single tree that towers over the others

-The immediate relief when burning sage/herbs

-Butterflies appearing out of nowhere

- The feeling of knowing where to go as you paddle down the river

- The joy of seeing others become happy and healthy after eating food you prepared for them

- Butterflies, need & hummingbirds buzzing through your garden as if they feel the positive energy there too
