Lyrics in Faroese:
Trøllabundin eri eg eri eg Galdramaður festi meg festi meg Trøllabundin djúpt í míni sál í míni sál Í hjartanum logar brennandi bál brennandi bál
Trøllabundin eri eg eri eg Galdramaður festi meg festi meg Trøllabundin inn í hjartarót í hjartarót Eyga mítt festist har ið galdramaður stóð
English translation:
Spellbound am I, am I The wizard has enchanted me, enchanted me Spellbound deep in my soul, in my soul In my heart burns a smouldering fire, smouldering fire
Spellbound am I, am I The wizard has enchanted me, enchanted me Spellbound in my heart’s root, my heart’s root
Did anyone else just get the shivers? Cuz I’m definitely getting the shivers.

flip a coin 🙃
do you ever see someone in some quiet intimate moment and suddenly love them so desperately you feel like you’re dying
#like when they pass a mirror and make a face and mess with their hair a little #or when you hear someone singing in their car with the windows rolled up as they drive past you #i don’t know how to express this i just. people are people and it makes me so sad and filled up sometimes
I love seeing grown humans setting about little creative tasks out of boredom and then looking quietly pleased with themselves, like maybe a middle-aged woman on her train home from work manages to make a tower out of empty coffee creamers and gazes at it proudly for a few seconds.
I love seeing other people make the overblown OOPS I FORGOT SOMETHING performance for no-one that most of us do when we have to turn around in the middle of the pavement.
I love seeing stony-faced people in queues unable to contain a smile when a baby looking over its mother’s shoulder in front of them locks eyes and does that astonished stare.
- when someone is standing in line and they don’t quite dance to the music playing, but you can SEE their head bop and them mouthing the words
- when someone thinks no one’s paying attention and they sing-talk themselves thru a task
- when they laugh or try to hide a laugh when looking at their phone
- when someone does the thing where they enter another space (such as a supermarket aisle) striding with total purpose, then suddenly forget what they’re doing/looking for, and stop there looking blank for a millisecond while they reboot.
- when people are looking for scissors, in their home or in a store, and they make the scissors gesture with their non-dominant hand as an aid to remind them what they’re doing.
- when automatic social interactions glitch, like when you tell a waiter that you hope he enjoys his food too, or tell the stranger on the phone that you love them.
- the hand gesture people make when they’re thinking at their computer, not typing, and their elbow rests on the table, and they feel the edge of their fingernail with their thumb. This is such a lovely little gesture and to my knowledge I have never seen it in fiction. You’d think it would come up all the time in fic.
- when you’re sharing an experience with a complete stranger (like watching a seagull throw up in public, or waiting for a late train) and you make eye contact, and some comment to each other, and then you guys are, like, ALLIES now. Like you would willingly ride to war to save them. You can’t make eye contact again, but you are very aware of them.
- just evidence of other people’s rich, baffling and complex inner lives.
It used to puzzle me why it was such a common element in urban fantasy settings - particularly those of tabletop roleplaying games - that the reason magic stays hidden is because people don’t want to believe in it.
In the real world, people are desperate to believe in magic. You see it everywhere, from spirit mediums on TV to the horoscopes in the daily paper.
The idea that there’d be an institutional refusal to believe in magic is just so alien to the demonstrable facts of human psychology that it would seriously hurt my suspension of disbelief.
Talking cats and setting things on fire with your mind is one thing, but a human psychology that lacks an inclination toward magical thinking is simply bizarre.
Then it hit me.
The public’s refusal to believe in magic in urban fantasy settings is a stand-in for the perennial nerd fallacy that non-nerds are stupid, and only the special, nerdy elite have the objectivity to understand the world as it truly is.
Charming.
This kind of fucked me up.
This is a huge problem I have with any setting that has a Masquerade in place (see also basically any Santa Claus movie where Adults Not Believing In Santa is a plot point, but gifts not bought by those adults mysteriously appear in their houses every 25th of December). If magic is a force in your universe and a non-zero number of people can reliably use it to cause things to happen, then it’s not going to be this mystical thing that nobody believes in except the Chosen Few, especially not if people are kind of vaguely aware of the concept of magic as a thing and everyone just thinks it’s fictional. It’d be like the population of the world suddenly and collectively deciding somewhere around the Renaissance that electromagnetism didn’t exist, and the Chosen Ones making a highly-mobilised effort from then on to cover up lightning strikes. And then the protagonist of the novel zaps themselves on a doorhandle after they walk across a carpet in socks and suddenly they have to travel by bullet train to electrical engineering school and get in huge amounts of trouble if they ever use a battery-powered fan in a Muggle community.
It’s worse than that - often in these settings scientists are reluctant to believe in observable, repeatable magic. Have any of these people met scientists? We would go absolutely nuts for an entire aspect of the universe we hadn’t had a chance to study yet. You’d have to routinely assassinate people to stop magic being studied.
See, while I agree that it’s unlikely any magical society would truly be able to keep themselves hidden in a real environment (unless they do in fact have the ability to wipe minds and find those with inclination to magic before they can show themselves), I really disagree with the idea that magic is made into this ‘exclusive’ thing simply because nerds think they’re better than ‘normal’ people. Personally I have a weakness for this trope and it’s nothing to do with feeling better than others and more based around my experience of society ostracizing those that are different. I’m queer and mentally ill, I have to hide just THOSE small things from some areas of society in order to be accepted, so it’s impossible for me to think those with such abilities would be accepted with ease. Thus it seems perfectly reasonable for them to hide. Of course this is just my reason for exploring that trope, it’s simply a projection of my own fears of being judged, mocked or even hurt for my differences. I’m sure there are some nerds that use it just to make themselves feel elite but to say that’s the only reason seems like a wide generalization.
I know many of you out there are feeling a bit down. Have a crow to Wouldn’t it be Nice by the Beach Boys to lift your mood.

This is probably the cutest
This is the perfect pet for people who want to keep a small container of water with something pretty in it. Even though it’s a plant and not a fish, it’s way cuter than a sad, cramped betta- and less maintenance, too. A marimo is perfect for that pretty aesthetic or your college dorm room. Want a mason jar aquarium? A marimo will be perfectly happy in there. Want a fishbowl with pretty rocks? Get a marimo, or even a few of them! I can’t overstate how wonderful and cute marimo are.
This is beautiful and heart breaking

How to make succulent babies!
Step 1: Pick leaves Gently twist the leaf near the base, it should snap off the plant cleanly. Good cuttings will be slightly rounded at the ends, and have no ‘open’ wound:
Bad cuttings will not grow, you need to make sure the whole leaf comes off in one go. Bad leaves are jagged, torn, or cut:
Step 2: Lay all cuttings inside on a piece of cloth. I usually put a piece of old scrap material down on my desk and lie all the leaves out in rows. I try not to pile up the leaves, as this tends to promote rot. Do not water at all. AKA no misting the leaves, no watering the leaves, nothing. Everything the baby succulent needs to grow is stored in the mother leaf, watering may rot the leaf before the new plant is big enough to survive on its own! Make sure the leaves aren’t in direct sun, as they will wither before they form new plants. Filtered light from a window is strong enough!
Step 3: Waiting After about 4 weeks you will start to see the first signs of life. The leaf may send out roots first, it may start to grow with no roots. Both are okay!
Step 4: Planting (Start watering once a week at this stage) After 6-8 weeks the baby succulents will be big enough to plant outside! I do this by placing the leaves on top of loose, sandy soil that has not been compacted. I do not bother burying the leaves, as it tends to do more harm than good (you may snap roots/damage new shoots in the process):
I place all the plants together, they don’t really seem to mind! These is how they look after about 10 weeks:
When the plants are big enough, the mother leaf will shrivel up and start to die off:
TADA! You’ve created baby succulents :)
I’m sorry, this is a very beautifully illustrated, informative plant post, but every time I read “Make succulent babies” I put the emphasis on the wrong part of the phrase and expect something.. very… different.

Stamp making
Step One Gather materials
- pen/sharpie/pencil to draw on your pattern - carving tools and or exacto knife - rubber carving block - scissors -ink pad - paper to stamp
Step two Measure and cut the size of your stamp ( you can buy smaller blocks of rubber that dont need to be cut or pre mounted/cut rubber)
Step three Draw out your design, for my lack of drawing and carving ability i try to avoid shading… so i keep it simple and color in what lines i am going to carve out. You can also reverse that and carve out all the white space…. depends on how you want your end result to look.
Step four
When your design is finished, time to cut!!
For this design i am using the small knife, just tracing the outer and inner red lines so it peels away.
Step five When your design is all carved out, time to test it <3
whala! You’ve just made your own custom stamp. You can mount your piece of rubber on wood or a hard surface to make sure it doesnt break or get ruined.. OR you can flip it over and make another stamp on the back! ( <- thats what i do)
Custom stamps are awesome for etsy shop owners or anyone who crafts… 100% unique hand crafted stamps are a great way to add an extra little something to your customers packages <3
Saving for later 💗
