English vs. Continental Knitting: What's the Difference? 🧶 Both methods create the same result—but the method varies: 🔹 English style: The working yarn is held in the right hand and "thrown" over the needle. 🔹 Continental style: The working yarn is held in the left hand and "picked" with the needle.
Personally, I knit Continental because that is what I learned as a child and it allows me to knit pretty fast, but there are many highly skilled experienced knitters who use the English style.

How to cast on, knit and cast off
In stranded knitting, you may sometimes get very long floats. It’s a good idea to catch these onto the wrong side of your knitting, so they don’t get caught in fingers and toes…
I like to catch floats every 3 to 5 sts. Don’t catch onto the same stitch in consecutive rows, because the yarn will be visible on the right side.
I like to mark my catches on the knitting chart beforehand to ensure an even distribution.
