Nyaās ( AKA, Noatak and Tarrlokās unnamed mother ) relationship with Noatak forever plagues me. We have ZERO information but hereās some of my head canons
Brought baby Noatak with her EVERYWHERE, she had children later in life and was very proud of her babies, especially the baby that made her a mom
Both very doting on Tarrlok, thatās her baby of the babies and thatās his baby brother, of course theyāre both spoiling him!
Was very excited to learn Noatak was a water bender. I personally think bending is a factor of spirituality and genetics, and the last water bender in her family was a grandparent of hers, and Yakons was very closed off about his family origin, so she assumed her children would be non-bendeds. So imagine her surprise when both of her kids are benders, and her first-born was an early bloomer!
Wasn't really a mommaās boy but definitely close and used to be very clingy, till Noatak got his water bending and Yakone started sucking up the mother and son time with training
Their relationship became SOOOO strained and distant after the blood bending training began
Noatak began to hate Nya a little, she was the closet he and Tarrlok had to a saviour from the abuse, and in his eyes, she completely ignored the obvious signs abuse and still tried to act motherly
Nya became deeply concerned for her sonās when the āhunting tripsā started, especially for Noatsk. Tried everything she thought of, initiating conversation, reminding him he could talk to her, but was always met with distance
