This has been such a reality that it's been infuriating me. And not just that non-essential jobs stay open and force minimum wage employees to risk their lives and families for some horrid overlord CEO who goes out on their yatch during the crisis. No, the every day people who refuse to change their habits despite the risk. The ignorance of "it's only a few cases it won't get bad". The people who jeopardize the health and lives of others because they won't let anyone tell them what to do.

In the passed weeks I have seen an increase in people sending out letters and parcels because of Easter. You can't tell them to stay home because tradition is stronger than disease. Old people who at high risk refuse to stop playing lottery and disregard safety precautions. Some wear gloves to open the door but take off the glove to use the pinpad to pay. Most still use cash, inuding one who afterwards told me she just returned from out of the country.

Where I live we are enforcing quarantine, though not as severely as some other places. You can go out for walks, ride your bike, go to buy essentials without needing a pass, and yet people are complainging that they can't go out in the woods to fish and 4wheel. It's because police don't want to have to patrol the woods to make sure these dingdongs aren't grouping up. But the complaints I hear about what lightweight restrictions we're getting is proof that to these people the self is worth more than anyone else.

I see so many people ignore the warnings, or halfass their attempts to keep clean. They refuse to accept that what is happening in other places can happen here. I want to bring them into a hospital in Italy or New York and show them the bodies of those who didn't make it. The tens of thousands of dead. To tell them that if they don't smarten up and join the rest of society in trying to survive, then those bodies will be of their loved ones and they'll be the reason those corpses are there.
