These are places that may not have Michelin stars or social media hype, but have been serving incredible food to generations of local Vietnamese families.

Along the way, I'll also introduce you to Hanoi's fascinating coffee culture, from nostalgic cafés loved by the older generation to trendy spots where young locals gather today. We'll explore beautiful lakes, iconic attractions, and some of the city's best places to shop for affordable souvenirs—while, of course, stopping for plenty of amazing food along the way.

Feeling adventurous? I also tried one of Hanoi's most controversial street foods at a legendary local stall, as well as another authentic Vietnamese specialty hidden deep inside the corridors of old apartment blocks—places that most tourists would never even think to look.

And no food journey is complete without dessert. We'll end the day with some of Hanoi's most beloved traditional sweet treats, made entirely from natural ingredients. Many of these recipes were created during wartime, when food was scarce, and have been lovingly passed down through generations.
