keep grinding. keep showing that grit and perseverance. you may not be where you want to be today. but eventually, you will be. it’s proven by science that being intelligent isn’t enough to reach your goals. it’s perseverance. that undying need that lives in side of you to achieve what you want. keep making dua. keep striving. if we’re broken, bruised and tired that’s ok. we can rest once we cross the finish line.
[Psychologist] Angela Duckworth has spent years studying people, trying to understand what it is that makes high achievers so successful. And what she found surprised even her. It wasn’t SAT scores. It wasn’t IQ scores. It wasn’t even a degree from a top-ranking business school that turned out to be the best predictor of success. “It was this combination of passion and perseverance that made high achievers special,” Duckworth said. “In a word, they had grit.”

Be grateful that Allah ﷻ blessed you with things you did not even ask for.
Secluded Intown Treehouse. Three amazing treehouse rooms connected to each other by rope-bridges. All of the rooms are decorated with antique items gathered from the flea markets. A truly beautiful place to stay! Located in Atlanta, Georgia.
1 Her breast is fit for pearls, But I was not a “Diver” – Her brow is fit for thrones But I have not a crest. 5 Her heart is fit for home I – a Sparrow – build there Sweet of twigs and twine My perennial nest.

A monster is not such a terrible thing to be. From the Latin root monstrum, a divine messenger of catastrophe, then adapted by the Old French to mean an animal of myriad origins: centaur, griffin, satyr. To be a monster is to be a hybrid signal, a lighthouse: both shelter and warning at once.

I have so many dreams, but societal expectations and pressures make me feel boxed in and like I can’t have everything I want. I feel guilty for wanting to achieve or push myself further because it means I can’t also be a “traditional Muslim woman”. And I know that this thinking is ridiculous, because we only have examples in Islam to look to- like Khadijah (R), who was an amazing societal leader in her own right but still could fulfill many traditional Islamic roles. Why can’t I have both in modern day Muslim-America? Why am I continuously met with conversations like “oh, you should dumb yourself down a little if you want to get married...you’re too intimidating”, or “you’ll make a bad wife/mother doing that career”, or “I cant believe your parents are letting you do this!”, or “that seems like something a //progressive// Muslim woud do (side note: wtf is that supposed to mean? although I am a traditional Muslim, what is why the weird intra labeling in our community? what kind of hyper liberalism??)
It’s suffocating. It’s toxic. I wish there were more accessible Muslim woman mentors. Sigh.
I think Instagram is really bad for me but I can't stop using it
also hate it when boys tell me what to do idk if it's an ego thing but this is why I probably have a hard time dealing with men :-)
I hate pushy men
sometimes even when you're surrounded by people who love you, you can feel so incredibly alone. this is the hardest thing of all.
don’t announce things. don’t share your plans. show your progress. prove your growth. let them see your prosperity, not what steps it took to get there.
the people in grenfell died because they were poor.
the people in grenfell died because their landlord chose to spend money on flammable cladding because rich tenants in nearby penthouses didn’t like the ugly council building ruining their view.
the people in grenfell died because their landlord chose not to spend money on a centralised fire system or sprinklers or an additional fire escape.
the people in grenfell died because the tories voted against a law that would force landlords to make their buildings inhabitable and safe for their tenants.
the people in grenfell died because of the privatisation of social housing.
the people in grenfell burnt to death with their children in their arms because they were poor.
imagine being so rich that you never need to attempt to raise money for anything in your goddamned life so you decide to sell organic cage free gluten free soy free lemon water for funsies but no one in your rich neighborhood leaves their house ever so instead you get your underpaid employees to give you, a rich toddler, their money.
