New York empties out on holidays, so this little Dachshund had Madison Avenue at 30th Street all to himself. July 4, 1958.

I got a very pretty shade of pink/peach on the tips of my hair by bleaching last week’s mistake, that I’ve never been able to get on purpose, but I successfully bleached my roots enough to look bald with the top layer down so let’s try a new color.
Im using Arctic Fox about 2 parts Virgin Pink to 1 part Wrath to see how it works.

ICE is bigger and worse than ever, although the major media have stopped reporting on it. Not only is ICE’s reign of terror intimidating many undocumented immigrants and their families — preventing them from seeking the healthcare they need or attending school or going to court — but ICE is also sweeping into its maw many American citizens who are protesting Trump’s police state. Do not lose sight of this. More thoughts on how we should respond on my Substack (in my story).
i have been struggling to see the point in creating art amongst the horrors. sometimes it feels self indulgent. it's hard to remember what's the point in creating pretty drawings for tattoos. it's hard to remember how to not spiral every day when we have collectively been cheated out of a peaceful existence. how do i get on with my regular life when there is so much suffering? i can wish for another reality but in the meantime, i live in this one. i must have the resilience to not drown in it... i must have the courage to feel it... otherwise i will become numb to it, and that's when i stop caring because i will lose the capacity to care. i remind myself that art is imagination, and i am reminded of the positive effects that ripple outward from it. i choose to join in the collective imagination that builds something different for us all. and i am obligated to have hope!! i must practice hope every day at least once. no matter how long the night, the day always comes! the future we create will be beautiful! every empire falls!

Anyone notice this weird “protein” trend in coffee? I didn’t want to comment when a local coffee shop started on “protein foam,” but Starbucks is on it too.
I didn’t ask for this but the option to order online has them as default and…fine? They taste the same but why.

Three books of Sabbath readings (Seder tikkunei shabbat)
These book of Sabbath readings include liturgical poetry, psalms, passages from the Mishnah, and rules for the Sabbath influenced by the Kabbalah.
1. Scribe and illustrator: Aaron Wolf Herlingen (ca. 1700 – ca. 1760), 1738. The manuscript was copied and illustrated by Aaron Wolf Herlingen, a prominent 18th-century Jewish calligrapher and illustrator. During this period Central Europe experienced a renaissance in the art of calligraphy and illustration of Hebrew books. Herlingen was a scribe at the Royal Library of Vienna, and also copied and illustrated manuscripts for wealthy Jews. The splendour of this manuscript is evident not only in its beautiful script and illuminations, but also in its special binding of gold filigree.
2. 1717. Handwritten on parchment; ink, gouache, and gold powder.
3. Scribe: Ya’akov ben Yehudah Leib of Berlin, 1724. Handwritten on parchment; ink and gold powder.
