beloved moot which cat breed would you consider winry to be? I'm trying to assign meow meows - as no character analysis is complete without it - to the fma characters who aren't mutts being put down by scar 🥰 but I'm a bit lost on her. please help out in my research :3

Hello lovely mutual I'm not surprised that youre lost when it comes to her to be honest i am scratching my head right now as well. The thing about Winry is that she is so unbelievably dog-coded it's hard to imagine her as a cat, especially any specific breeds. Shes the most dog coded character in the series being called a dog of the military means nothing when Winry shows up. And assigning her a dog breed is easy because those long strands of hair she leaves when she pins her hair up immediately make me think of dogs with long floppy ears like an irish setter or a cocker spaniel (this one I'm particularly fond of because my childhood dog was one) but that doesn't translate well onto a cat because cats just don't really have those. I thought maybe a munchkin cat since they're people-oriented, playful and energetic but the problem is that they've got real short legs and that's not very winryesque. I'm at a loss. Another problem is that I dont really know much about cat breeds I can differentate between like 3 different types of cats if they look very different but mostly I'm like yup. That is a Cat. I think maybe a blonde american bobtail could pass as her, and they're also described as sociable intelligent cats that get along well with people and Dogs! So you might wanna look into that if nothing else fits better. Assigning kitties to characters is adorable though I'm excited to see!!!! Im sorry I cant help more she's just so doglike to me, but this was fun to consider!!!

But honestly, I think the best cat for her would be a mix of a normal cat with a Persian. I didn't find any photos that would prove my vision, so here's pictures of my own cat, Lady, who was half persian

I know she's completely different from the others I proposed but in my head it's either one or the other. Can't decide whether she'd be a chubby cat or a tall one

Atla Poland AU part 2: Tosia Białopuszczówna (Toph) from Kurpie Białe. She doesn't wear any additional jewellery, ribbons or a shirt (too stiff for her liking). She's obviously always barefoot. She wears her zapaska on her shoulders instead of around the waist. The headpiece shouldn't technically be able to hold her bundle of hair but shhh she makes it work somehow.

Maybe kinda a boring answer but I really love ep 1 & 2. They're a perfect introduction to the story and main characters, the plotline with Liore is set up and I just really like Liore as a location. And we get Rose!! These episodes are just very entertaining to me in general.

I also like the ep where Ed gets to the other side of the gate for the first time and we get hit with Beethoven's 5th symphony 🗣️🗣️ (don't remember which ep that is) I love the fight scene with Envy and Ed fucking dies (twice). And Envy's reaction to Ed coming back though the gate is just *chef's kiss*

when do we get to discuss how als determination to study alchemy and equivalency to get his brother back at the end of 03 is just. The cycle starting again. The snake eating its tail. There is nothing new under the sun. This story will repeat and repeat and repeat and there is nothing we can do to stop it

And the fact that everyone just… lets him. Izumi can’t say no to him, the rockbells let him run off in search for clues about his brother, exactly the same as they’ve done before.

It’s exactly what Ed meant when he said there is no war that we don’t all play a part in. All of them are pushing that boulder back up the hill again and again.

Its exactly what Envy meant when they introduced “the new Sloth” to Greed. Just like the ouroborus, they’re all destined to repeat and repeat because that is the nature of those who create a homunculus.

In 03, the boys don’t get to grow up and live past the events they fought through, they are stuck in their mistakes and the circularity of their decisions, facilitated by those who have made those decisions before them.

(Just like Liore, finding one false idol after another after another. Like Scar, who lost a brother and sought to take a brother. Like Dante and Hohenheim, repeating life ad infinitum together.)

Adding onto this, I think this is *exactly* why Edward chooses to go back to Earth at the end of CoS instead of staying in Amestris. His whole life has been a vicious cycle. He saw the cycle in Al, and it was fueled by his and specifically Edward’s past actions and dreams. Now that Al knew he was alive, and Ed knew Al was alive, the fight could stop and they could both just *stop.*

Of course, the power of alchemy and bending rules largely aided in Ed’s cycle. At least on the other side of the gate, he couldn’t be tempted to reach farther than his own limitations anymore. But he can’t just stop either.

So instead of extending beyond himself for personal dreams and goals, he’s set on playing a positive role in the world. Like he says to Al, they can’t keep living their lives like their dreams are the only things that matter. Everyone plays a part.

Edward finally, finally understood all is one and one is all. I can only hope things will go right for them this time.

I cant emotionally get over the fact that in CoS Al becomes a version of Ed and Ed becomes a version of their mom.

I never considered how similar Ed is to his mom in CoS and now I cannot stop thinking about it. That quiet melancholy, the halfhearted smiles, those wistful expressions.

Trisha encouraged Ed and Al to pursue alchemy even though they were like 5 years old, just because it reminded her of their dad. Ed sticks with Alfons because he reminds him of his brother, but it gets to the point where, in a deleted scene, he asks Alfons to call him big brother.

Trisha didn’t give up hope of seeing her husband again, the way Ed doesn’t give up getting back home again, but these aren’t exactly healthy ways of dealing with grief. Mother and son are reluctant to move on and accept their losses. They’re projecting their losses on to other people, and it’s a little messed up.

Trisha’s attention was often on the horizon, on the husband she may never see again. She was thinking about something else, somewhere else, instead of really being there, and it’s a lot like how Ed behaves in CoS, daydreaming about home and the family he may never see again.

I don’t think little Ed and Al understood 100%, but their mom was pretty depressed. Ed and Al performed alchemy so much because it was one of the only things that made Trisha happy, that made her genuinely smile.

In Cos, Ed’s at his happiest when he’s retelling adventures, taking out bad guys, hunting down dragons, and drawing transmutation circles; things that remind him of home and his years traveling with Al. I think he’s actually kinda disappointed when it turns out alter!Bradley’s not a homunculus.

That said, despite some of their unhealthy behaviors Trisha and Ed manage their depression well enough, but the second they’re reminded of their circumstances they grow sad again.

For instance, Trisha was excited to see what her sons had transmuted until she was reminded that Hoho might not come home. Then she has to force a smile and offer false assurances to her son.

Ed was the most excited to test the rocket until he was reminded that he doesn’t have a home. Then he has to go and lay down, lying about his neck hurting and forcing a smile. He doesn’t even want to watch the rocket launch anymore.

Later in the movie, Ed also comforts Al similar to a parent, like Trisha, crouching down and touching Al’s shoulder as he offers Al reassurances and wisdom…Ed’s maturity really showed in this movie, especially compared to Al who’s only 12.

I really can’t stop thinking about Ed becoming like his mom now I’m ruined op thanks
