The theme for this project was colours, how it surrounds and affects us and decided to make a pot in memory of my mum.
As she died on the 11th of November and her favourite flowers were poppies, I made 11 poppies and chose the colours red, lavender and white. These colours represent death, admiration and peace
I was given the them of “deconstruct and reconstruct”; it basically means taking a subject or object apart, in both a mental and physical way. I had decided to base this Project on my home City Berlin because of its turbulent history where it actually has been devided (deconstructed) by the wall and Hitler’s Aryan-Race-ideology and then reunited (reconstructed). I had decided to take different aspects from Berlin’s history and personal Involvement and put them together/ visualised them in this Little chest of drawers, so people can interact with it (opening and closing the drawers).

As The Tate in St Ives, Cornwall, was celebrating ist 21st anniversary, I decided to make some pots (as I love pottery) inspired by the sea or coast. I wanted to make a range of pots because the sea is way too diverse to be represented in only one pot. I based all my Patterns on my own photos but took inspiration from artists such as Maggi Hambling or Daniel Hawkins. They are based on waves, the beach and a seascape! They have not been clear glazed yet as the glaze hasn't arrived yet!!!
In year 12, one of my assignments asked me to design and make a pot. As I have never really done any pottery work before, I was a bit at a loss. I did a lot of Research into different artists and finally decided to use Kate Malones work as Inspiration, especially her “pumpkin pots”. whilst working on it, I begun to really enjoy it and so my love for pottery was born.
In Year 12 I went to see Burghley house, a very well-known Victorian house in England. I originally planned to do a drawing or painting based on the photos I took but ended up experimenting with papercuts/cutouts. I started to really love doing papercuts and so I ended up doing them for my final Outcome. They are inspired by differen aspects of Burghley house such as the Gardens, the Bedrooms, fountains and the traditional horse trials.
I had to design something that could be sold in a shop like John Lewis and that has not been made before (gap in the market). I did some research on the John Lewis Website and found out that they do not sell many objects absed on the theme of seans. especially not in the soft furnishing Department. I chose to design a cushion based on the Season Autumn. I ended up designing a tea towel as well, to show that you can use mydesign for more than one thing.
