♡ * & ; ——– ethan hadn’t planned on finding any stray animals that day, yet he’d managed to find a stray dog outside of the clinic. he brought the dog into the building, checked for a chip and made sure the animal wasn’t in need of any immediate medical attention. once he’d determined the dog who was about one years old, didn’t have a chip and appeared to be generally healthy, apart from being slightly under weight, he decided that he would bring the dog home in order to keep a close eye on it, and ensure that he got him back to a healthy weight. he hadn’t told maisie about the new furry roommate he was bringing home, he figured his wife wouldn’t really mind, anyways. he picked up the dog and walked to the front door, unlocking it and setting the animal down gently, he’d go out to the car shortly to get the things he’d purchased at the pet store. ❝ hey babe, ❞ he greeted casually. ❝ so, i found this little guy all by himself outside the clinic, he’s pretty healthy, he just needs to gain some weight and i wanted to keep an eye on him, so i brought him here. once he’s better i’ll find him a new home, okay ? ❞

---- it was early in the afternoon, and maisie was enjoying a much earned day off. she had slept in until 9:30 AM, got in a morning run completed with an at-home yoga session, and even had time to eat breakfast. she spent most of her day cleaning what needed to be cleaned, doing some online shopping, and was currently in the montgomery kitchen baking ethan’s favorite cookies. humming to herself, she was sprinkling some chocolate chips into cookie dough when she heard the door close. the click sound that it made was music to her ears --.. that meant that her husband was home. leaving her post, she made her way into the foyer where he would be entering, ❝ hello, my -- who is this? ❞ squatting down, she began to scratch her manicured fingernails behind it’s ears. lifting her head up to listen to his explanation, the corners of her mouth curved up in an amused smile. she was hearing him say that he would find it a new home --... but she knew in her heart that wasn’t the case. ❝ absolutely, ❞ glancing back down at the pup, she tapped it’s nose with her index finger. ❝ looks like you’re our new roommate, yeah? where’d you find it, e? him? her? ❞
