So am I the only one who ships Cass/Eugene and Varian/Rapunzel or
baby varian with his mother Leyna
possible explanations for varian drinking in plus est en vous
it’s not alcohol
it is alcohol but corona doesn’t have drinking laws/legal drinking age is a lot younger
it is alcohol, corona does have drinking laws, and varian doesn’t meet the requirements but someone was like ‘well, we might all be about to die. might as well let the kid die knowing what all the fuss is about.’
watching Varian’s character arc like
Just a very small Varian with his mommy, who’s telling him bedtime stories ♥
I finished watching Tangled the series. Varian is still my favorite character and he’s fun to draw. 🙃
Varian, I don’t think you’re qualified to practice psychiatry.
(I’m a bit under the weather and can’t sleep so enjoy some rough doodles)
So I thought Lady Caine and the other guys were bandits until I read the wiki and it said pirates and I just… where is their ship??
Varian joining the big bad group and making them question their ways.
“There was one time in particular that I can remember…it was when we had done seven or eight takes of Varian coming into the house and seeing Quirin. Jeremy said, “I have another one.” And we said okay, let’s do it again. And that’s when he said Daddy. And I just about lost it. If I had not yelled out, “That’s the take!” I probably would have broken down. And that was completely Jeremy, that was Jeremy’s read, we didn’t write that. He just did it naturally. So that was probably the most emotional I got, because I wasn’t expecting it.”

Chris Sonnenburg, on recording emotional moments, Tangled: The Series (via the podcast Tangled Talk, Ep. 25)
Note: The scene referred to is from Queen For A Day (S1 EP16), when Varian discovers his father trapped in amber and starts sobbing.
This is a message for the writers of the series if you ever get a chance to meet them. Tell them that we won't leave them alone until they can tell us about Eugene and Varian's moms (including their names) so we can write our own stories about them. Because it wouldn't seem fair if we named them ourselves when the names we choose aren't their real ones.
No. I will not bother the writers, and I do not advocate pestering them to get answers that there very likely are not answers to.
Don’t be that person who bugs the crew - especially after the show is done - to get the answers you seek for characters who were underdeveloped.
There is no shame in doing it yourself. If the canon doesn’t give you information, then any information you get, even from the source, is not technically canon. Canon is literally what is presented to the general audience.
In fairness to poor old Chris...
All he tweeted was (quote): “You’re missing the point of the show.” in response to being bombarded with questions from a fan demanding answers about Varian (quote): “I want at least info on who is mom is, what the note said, and why the blue streak…” Other fans jumped in with horrid, sarcastic accusations like (quote): “Why is it so much to ask that your show actually develop and put work into the characters you introduce?” (x)
Chris responded firmly and decisively in order to end the conversation. He’s been attacked with endless Varian-related demands from fans over the years. He clearly wanted to close the discussion. And honestly? Fair play to him.
This guy created the show we love from the ground up. He doesn’t owe us answers on everything we ask him. I freaking adore Varian, but even I have to admit that he’s not exactly ‘the point’ of the show. We’re watching Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure, not Varian’s Tangled Adventure.
That’s all Chris wanted to remind us of.
how do yoi feel about cassandria x older Varian?
HI I LOVE VARIAN SO MUCH his new outfit for this season is Very Good......🥺🥺🥺
1 and 17 for the TTS ask meme!
1. What was your favorite moment from the finale?
“I love you, Raps.”“I love you, Cass.”
nobody speak to me. nobody TOUCH me. I am not okay. I will never be okay.
17. Who is one character that you wish had gotten more screen time?
Honestly? I surprised myself with this answer, but probably Varian. That kid is a gosh darn delight every time he’s onscreen, and I missed him in S2.
I wish he could have accompanied the gang on their mission rather than Hookfoot. Perhaps Cassandra could have been charged with dropping him off in a faraway prison on their way to the Dark Kingdom, or perhaps they force him to come along due to his expertise on the black rocks.
His redemption arc could have been spread across the season and contrasted with Cassandra’s - as he grows more amiable and lets go of his hate, Cass falls deeper into her pit of bitterness and resentment.
Idk it sounds cool in my head. Who knows if it would have worked.
This is my first time reading a Chrestomanci book since I found out DWJ wrote Cat to be on the autism spectrum so now there are all these little instances I never picked up on, which is SO GREAT because now there’s even more depth to the books and the characters, like Cat getting confused when Chrestomanci is sarcastic with him, such a lovely detail, gives SUCH insight into their relationship and what kind of a Chrestomanci Cat is going to become in the future
Cat is gonna be such a different Chrestomanci than Christopher and I am so sad we will never get to see it.
My character designs for Conrad’s Fate written by Diana Wynn’s Jones.
