Back at the beginning of 2019, I joined the Tangled: The Series fandom and created my own Original Character, Lashanie von Humboldt, to let her become part of the wonderous universe of Tangled and its spectacular adventures. As I developed my OC further, I began to think up an entire story focusing on her and Varian called Through the Storm. On this blog, you can find the art I create for Through the Storm and AUs of it. Secret of the Sundrop - Aftermath

Lashanie regains consciousness just as Varian is being led away in manacles. Panicky, she wants to run to him, but gets caught by her father before she can even reach him. As Lashanie struggles against the arms restraining her, the guards take Varian away . . . I simply felt inspired to draw another moment from SotS for Lashie. ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶ we're getting closer to the finale of Act Two of TtS, lovelies &I'm so looking forward to rewriting that episode (again). It's going to be ✨️wonderful✨️

It's been way too long since I last drew him. Thing is, I always feel like I can't do him enough justice. Like, Pino is just so pretty—how do I capture that? qwq Anyway, I tried &I am a little happier with his face this time.

+I cheated a little with Gemini; I just couldn't bring myself to draw the intricate swirls &stuff framing the cricket symbol. so I just copied&pasted this part &worked it into my artwork best I could . . . sorry if it looks lazy. ówo

Sometimes what you had before is hard to turn back to. I feel like that is how Rapunzel felt after the events of Tangled the Series. And that makes me feel even closer to her, because I know when my roots come, or when I have to cut my hair, I look in the mirror and I don't see myself. I see an impostor. My hair became such a part of me that whenever I change it my character changes too. It's growth. You take away something, but gain another. 🥰

Since the Varian's last name thingy is being talked about again in the fandom right now, I wanna join &explain the thought behind the one I chose for him. c:

So, as some of you know, in my fanwork, Varian's last name is Fevrier.

And what will probably come to mind first is the French word for February. But, in fact, it stems from the Latin word ferro.

Because back in the old days, it was common for family names to be related to the profession they carried out.

So, the idea is that Varian's family used to be blacksmiths (maybe either Quirin—or his father—was the first to pursue a different path by becoming a knight). &that's where his last name comes from.

I also plan to include a moment in my fic where Varian &Xavier work on something &they speak about this origin, because I like the idea that Varian, in a way, picked up a former family tradition by working with iron again. (+I could imagine Quirin has forged his armor himself, since the Brotherhood doesn't wear matching armor.)

Despite the nasty behavior that prompted it, it's nice to see the fandom stand together &I too wanted to do something nice for everyone &above all for you Cass fans.𖹭

When I started this drawing, I knew I wanted to draw a dynamic pose fitting for her character &her finale outfit as we saw so little of it. I actually had no idea what to do for the background at first &I struggled like crazy with her sword. But, in all honesty, I am pretty proud of how it came out. >:3

Could you see Lashanie (as well as the other female characters in Tangled the Series) as a suffragette (depending on the timeline)?

I don't know much about the suffragette, tbh. But, as far as I understand, they were pretty much pioneers in fighting for political equality, especially women's rights to vote &I think every woman should be fighting for women's rights &equality.

Act Two From Butterflies to Fireworks Amongst Rocks and Amber Chapter Twenty-Two: No Place Like Home

••Lashanie••

The rolling hills girding the village are still as magnificent a view as when her family had first come to Old Corona about a decade ago, and their sight works to salve Lashanie's mind while her mama—now awake and eager to voice her displeasure at being back—repeats her plans for their future. To her, a new chapter of their life in Equis presents itself as imperative. And, for the moment, Lashanie tries her best not to imagine what that life might look like. What appeal could a future away from the home of her heart possibly hold, after all?

In the aftermath of the nighttime argument Lashanie overheard, her papa seems eager to avoid giving an untoward reaction and potentially rekindle a fire that would be hard to put out. His gaze, distant, is fixed at the window and his lips give no sound.

Finally, the carriage crests the last uphill slope, Lashanie's heart lifting in kind with anticipation, and Old Corona comes into focus with all its lovely little houses and the lakes reflecting the sunlight like diamond glitter. And the very instant her eyes fill with the sight of it, a bone-deep jolt steals the air out of Lashanie's lungs. There are black spikes everywhere! In their absence, the rocks have multiplied tenfold at least. She blinks, once, twice, three times, desperate for reality to rearrange itself. In vain.

being a “professional” writer doesn’t mean your works are inherently better than fanfics. I’ve read so many fics that are more professionally written than some published books.
