Well, well, well...if it isn't Mambo, the one who triggered the Villains' Rebellion. I'm not saying what you did is bad. Hell, I love a good "Canon divergence" story myself, but let's just say, where I'm from, Villains are treated a lot more seriously. Tell me, did you know that in the legend of Ali Baba, Ali of Ababwa isn't his real name? Turns out he's a street rat with a heart of gold, name of Aladdin. And ol' Cindy? She's a BLONDE, just like me. Personally, I have my own Fairy Tale friend: the Magic Mirror.

Meta topic: Not being good enough

Mambo is a troublemaker. And that isn't something he hides or is even ashamed of. He wants to have fun and finds it so hard to find entertainment when he is stuck doing the same things daily watching the kingdom and making sure every story 'goes by the books'. He has never been a rules or by the book guy. He likes to make things exciting and interesting, living by the phrase 'you only live once, why not enjoy life while you can?'. Munk on the other hand is the 'teacher's pet' archetype, wanting things in an orderly fashion and playing things safe to make the boss proud. It's no surprise their opposite personalities cause the two to bicker.

Munk often talks down to Mambo because of him being hired after him and thus less experienced and more the one to go against the boss's wishes. Mambo hates it when he is talked down to because of his status as 'the second assistant.' He will show his annoyance in the form of snide comments and petty remarks to Munk, but it is mainly to hide the fact that it...gets to him. Mambo knows he often gets on other's nerves because of his constant need for a carefree life and rebellious personality. And before The Wizard took him on as an assistant/apprentice, everywhere else he had tried to work or find a place to stay at was quick to get rid of him because of his cheekiness and big mouth. But Mambo won't change who he is, regardless of what others think. It gets to him sure, but he isn't a people pleaser. Still, he can't help but dread the day the Wizard decides to get rid of him due to his past experience. After all, nobody or nowhere else wanted him, what's this guy waiting for? After all, he isn't as book smart of magically gifted as Munk is, nor is he as well-behaved. And he knows it. He is always being scolded due to how much trouble he causes even here, so when will the time come when he is told to leave again?

He watches Munk do his work, envying how he can do it all with so much confidence and no need for a break of any sort during his shifts, seemingly no need for fun or excitement. Always the 'exceptional assistant' because he follows orders and does what he is told without hesitation. Sometimes he wishes for the praise Munk gets, and truth be told, maybe that's why he finds himself teasing Munk so much. He would never tell him this, but Munk is probably the smartest guy he's ever known aside from the boss, and knows he is probably deserving of the status as 'the boss's favorite', and has done more to earn his place as a Wizard Assistant than Mambo himself could ever do.

Mambo found himself taking in the little sights and sounds of the shaded forest around them such as squirrels chittering, birds chirping, leaves rustling, and small rodents skittering in the undergrowth far below where he was perched on the back of Bruce’s neck as a way to put the previous events full of terror behind him. He put a finger close to his chin as if pondering before answering Bruce’s question.

‘Eh, if I were to shoot for an estimate based on the times I’ve trekked to the apple orchards before, half an hour, maybe? It ain’t too much of a long haul from this forest, there’s just the boring fancy shmancy town where the high class folks live their comfortable lives before the gates to it.’

The Troll cocked his head at Mambo’s answer– careful to not move too suddenly, lest he throw his current passenger. “Wha– Ever?” Bruce gawked, puzzled. “Ye’ve never traveled further 'way from the castle than the orchard?”

Perhaps it was far more feasible to be a homebody when one had a home. As for Bruce, he couldn’t quite recall the times he hadn’t been on the road. Even as a young Troll pup, separated from his mum.

Mambo laid back, putting his hands behind his head. He gazed at the sky, as if thinking about Bruce's question. Mambo shrugged.

"Eh, I've been here and there, but nothing crazy or wild like other kingdoms or lands-now that would be some adventure. Just the same old boring villages full of commonfolk with nothing remotely interesting goin' on in there lives and same puny orchards surrounding the kingdom. And I even see enough of it from our crystal ball at hom-" Mambo stopped himself mid sentence before he could give away too much about the scales and their control of the kingdom. "On our map at the tower. Ponies here, maids there, bakers, butchers, cottages, everywhere I've been. Boooringggg. Need a bit of excitement in my life, ya know?"

"But given the boss and Munk's way is the highway, doesn't look like I'll be gettin' that anytime soon."
