The government says destroying his own data during an airport interrogation was illegal.
A few things of note:
This is why people to your left have been chiding you about the "pedo" panic: now, the government can accuse you of being a "pedo" to justify committing crimes against you.
This is why people to your left have been chiding you about the "terrorist" moniker: for the last half century, the government can accuse you of being a "terrorist" to justify committing crimes against you.
exactly.
the recent new mexico case against meta literally went after end-to-end encryption itself (as a design feature) by arguing that the ability to exchange private messages that police can't surveil enables child sexual abuse. court mandated changes include "protecting minors from encrypted communications." as if minors being abused by adults would be helped instead of harmed by having no privacy or means to communicate that isn't recorded permanently. ridiculous.
(& if you think that was actually about punishing zuckerberg consider meta was only forced to pay $4.2 million & they bring in tens of billions every quarter. it was nothing to them. it was not about ''holding meta accountable'' it was about granting law enforcement more access to surveil activists)
There aren't words for how insidiously disgusting and blatant this is. (Link)
Be yourself as best you can whenever you can.
I see so many arguments over what is and isn't "good queer representation" that really just boil down to "y'all are actually arguing over matters of taste and genre preference, which is incredibly subjective and personal."
Worldbuilding where being queer is normalized and queerphobia has no impact on the plot? THAT'S FINE. Worldbuilding that includes queerphobia and tackles the effects of it as part of the story? THAT'S ALSO FINE.
Low-stakes queer romcom where the characters are fluffy and cute? THAT'S COOL. Messy queer drama with toxic people who fuck each other over and clash repeatedly? THAT'S ALSO COOL.
Stories that center the characters' queerness, show a trans character's transition, and are about the queerness as much as the rest of the plot? AWESOME. Stories where the characters' queerness isn't treated as a big deal, and have trans characters whose transition happened before the story entirely? ALSO AWESOME.
You may PREFER one thing or another, but it is actually good to have all these things. It's about variety. It's about queer characters being allowed to exist without censorship. It's about queer artists getting to make things without being told we're a "niche issue" or "adult content." It's about having as many goddamn cakes as the bakery can produce.
At the end of the day, I'd prefer a media landscape with fifty pieces of problematic queer representation over a media landscape with one single piece of queer representation that's trying (and usually failing) to be 100% perfect for everything and everyone.
would you look at that, fandom.com has started adding completely content-blocking popups to their page that totally prevent you from using the site unless you turn ad block off.
it sure would be a shame if people went to their URL bar and typed "anti" in front of "fandom.com" in order to go to the antifandom.com mirror of the page they were trying to reach, which shows all the same content but without any ads,
If antifandom dot com isn't working for whatever reason, you can also use breezewiki.com
reminders i need to like, tattoo on my brain:
1. if you feel judged and hurt by others, try sleeping
2. if you feel judgmental and resentful of others, try eating (the classics)
3. if you feel uncomfortable, try showering
4. if you feel directionless and afraid, go sit outside for a bit and maybe then you'll calm down. maybe even a walk if youre feelin crazy
5. take it easy, but by god, take it
oh and how could i forget. final boss. take your fucking medication
so venezuela has become a usamerican colony. like that happened and everything carried on like normal
like i know venezuela is going through a huge humanitarian crisis right now and their political regime is low in the list of priorities when tallinmg about it obviously it's just it shocked me to read trump congratulating his secretary of energy on how well he's running what used to be a sovereign country until a few months back you know
He wants to do that to Canada, Cuba, and Greenland too and is simply shocked that it hasn't happened yet.
Hey so it's worse then that
Does anybody remember when back in January Trump kidnapped the Venezuelan president? Well the American government proceeded to place someone else in charge and is directing them via text message. They are telling him who to appoint into office and allowing US businesses into the country.
They are "not looking to instate democratic elections at this time."
Occupation is a hassle. Large countries have many new ways to control small ones.
“after covid” “post-covid” What if i just shot you
I don't know who needs to be told this, but you don't need to unpack your shit in public. Like, yeah, you can reach out to people undergoing a similar crisis in worldview in private or anonymous channels, but if you do it all on TikTok or whatever, you're just making a spectacle of yourself and you should expect people to react as they would to any spectacle
Thinking of this viral TikTok of a 3× Trump voter who's now deconstructing her support for MAGA and who is breaking down because commentators are saying they'll never forgive her for her past and it's just like...girl, you don't need to vlog this. You don't need to stand in the village square loudly declaiming your sins for all to hear. You don't need to be in public on camera all of the time. There must be an ex-Trumper reddit or something if you don't have a support group in real life, but This Is Not the Way.
Deconversion is a very personal process that you do need to go through alone, but you also very much do not need to go through it with a billion anonymous strangers on the Internet watching you and judging.
#there is no less sympathetic audience than the internet folks#do NOT confess your sins to a bunch of strangers that specifically revel#in the opportunity to indulge in their impulsive responses

Why does your post have lingerie on
God forbid a bitch be feeling herself while mentally ill in this economy 😢
it bothers me when someone brings up misogyny in shounen anime and people shrug it off with "its designed for teenage boys, what can you expect." like well. idk i think its actually pretty important that shows for teenage boys are normal about women. i mean i think all media should be normal about women but teenagers are impressionable i think we could put a little bit of feminism in the teenage boy shows. it might do some good. you never know.
and this isnt just about shounen i just mean like. if you're excusing misogynistic writing with "well it wasn't written for girls" then i'm seriously questioning your approach to all this.
my notifications are once again devolving into a spirited debate about the ethics of actions that could potentially make someone uncomfortable, and at risk of sounding like someone about to get a lot of irate anons I think we're frankly giving way too to much moral weight to hypothetical discomfort
the thing about discomfort is that it's an extremely nebulous category that can be triggered by virtually anything and that's far too broad a category to have any inherent moral quality to it. like. my mom was mad uncomfortable when I stopped shaving. that didn't mean I was doing violence against my mom it just meant she needed to get over herself. many such cases it must be said.
there's not a single example I could give that's better than this
