au where merlin and arthur get to go and live on a farm by themselves like they deserve and morgana and gwen rule camelot like the badass queens that they are and lancelot lived and him and gwen are happy and mithian visits often and her and morgana are soft!! and gwaine and percival go off travelling but they often go stay with merlin and arthur and arthur pretends to hate it but he secretly doesn't and leon and elyan become head of the queen's guards and everything is happy and as it should be!!

Not to be merthur on main but you ever think about how Merlin is a dragonlord and Arthur is a Pendragon? And how dragonlords control dragons and Merlin is the one who tamed Arthur and turned him from an arrogant bully into a functional, compassionate king? And Merlin is the one person who can get him to or not to do something???? Poetic.

One time, Lancelot and I saw Merlin in the courtyard and he was all smiley, and we were like ‘Merlin! You seem so happy today!’ and without missing a beat he said 'thanks! It’s a facade.

You know what I’ve always loved about this scene? How Uther says all grandly, “You shall be Prince Arthur’s manservant.” And then fucks right off. Like look at him. He’s barely finished the sentence before he’s walking away. And I just know in my bones that this was his little secret plan. I have no doubt Arthur probably had a succession of servants - look at how he treated Morris earlier in the episode. They probably couldn’t deal with him. And so Uther is just like, “Right. That’s it. He’s gonna have a permanent servant or so help me god. No more replacements.” And then Gaius comes to him about releasing this idiotic kid who Arthur has thrown in jail for mouthing off at him. He doesn’t think more on it. He’s just like, “fine, just take him, I don’t really care.” Hearing about a certain market fight is irritating of course - because, Arthur, royal protocol, what were you EVEN - but he forgets about it quickly. And then this same scrawny kid saves Arthur’s life and Uther was probably just standing there like, “he needs a reward. Arthur needs a servant. Oh my god Uther you genius.” Bingo. Two birds, one stone. Merlin needs a reward? Arthur needs a servant? Position in the royal household. Damn what an epiphany. And then he just KNOWS Arthur’s gonna protest, because he already heard all about the other incidents, so he just fucks. right. off. before a word can be said. Because right now he doesn’t care if this kid disrespected his son in a public place, if he can handle Arthur by Christ he can damn well take him off Uther’s hands.
