Characters: Smoker, OC
Type of work/text: Chapter
Spoiler: None
Synopsis: Smoker goes through some troubling thoughts and Genra gives them little surprises and more questions too
Warnings: mentioned choking, light mention of torture and experiments
Third-person POV
"Loguetown?" Smoker repeated in confusion as he took a step back to look at Genra. For a minute all he did was stare at her and she stared right back. "Did you just... speak?" Smoker asked but Genra remained calm and silent, making him think that he was hearing things. She shifted in place and just before anyone could make the next tiny move, Tashigi opened the door, disrupting the silence in the room. "I have arrived, sir!" She trotted over with a small paper bag of fruits and vegetables in her hand as she closed the door behind her.
It seemed as if she was running by the way she panted. Smoker turned to her and waited to hear what she had to say. "I saw a commotion in the town towards the base so I ran here as fast as I could. What happened?" Tashigi asked as she finally caught her breath. Smoker was reluctant to answer, "I dragged Genra to the base," he simply said. "She choked and coughed on the chains. I'm sure you could have done it some other way?" Tashigi did think Smoker could have gotten Genra into the cell a different way without hurting anyone.
"She's as stubborn as a mule and my patience is running thin with her." Smoker trailed off looking at his steel-tipped boots. "Maybe I could have been more patient with her." he thought, lifting his boot to break free of... vines wrapped around his feet. Tashigi and Smoker slowly panned their heads, following the path of where the vines had trailed from and it led to Genra's slump form. The vines had crept from her fingertips as they continued to grow in her cell and past the sea prism stone bars. Tashigi slowly stepped away from the growing vines, grabbing tighter of the parcel in her arms, paper crumpling in her elbows.
"Genra?" Smoker called out to her but it took him a minuter to notice that she had fallen asleep to which he scoffed. "One minute she's out to kill me, the next she's throwing needles, then she doesn't want to eat, then she's dancing on canons and then she's being stubborn and now she's sleeping. What a woman," "What do we do now with all these plants?" Tashigi pushed up her sliding glasses, looking at Smoker.
"We can't do anything until she wakes up but for now try closing up her cell with a mesh or something. We don't know when these vines will stop growing and at this rate, the base will be covered in plants and reeds by morning. Don't want the entire base to become the home to mother nature, do you?" He crossed his arms over his chest and puffed on his cigar, not expecting an answer when ash fell from the cigar and landed on the vines he had just been freed from. Smoker noticed how the burnt vines recoiled as if it was hurt.
"Did you know which devil fruit she ate?" Tashigi asked unaware of Smoker now staring at the retreating vines. "I had an idea based on my knowledge but..." He trailed off as they both now looked at all the vines coil back and disappear at Genra's fingertips. "I'm guessing I don't need to contain the vines anymore?" "Yeah..." Smoker answered, still staring at Genra's sleeping form trying to search for signs that she was putting on an act but nothing came from it. She remained as still as a rock in her deep sleep. "Let's go then. It doesn't seem like she'll wake up anytime soon. Night," Smoker turned and walked out and Tashigi followed, giving one last glance at Genra before turning in for the night.
Smoker didn't sleep all that well with his mind racing miles an hour. It gave him no peace and of all the things that kept him up that night, it was Genra. It was obvious that she was no ordinary prisoner but when he pondered about it, nothing made sense about her. Her moods would change in the snap of a finger. Her only form of communication was animalistic growls. How she reacted very strangely to the simplest of things. Or how she doesn't seem to want to attack him or any of his crewmates on the ship despite hating the Marines with every fibre in her body.
It's only normal to hate an entire organisation that put you through countless experiments so why be passive? Now that he thought about it, all the attacks she had on the crew or himself, weren't to kill but to threaten. And the experiments themselves were too much of a punishment, even for a criminal like Genra. Sure she had committed her crimes but experimenting on her? It was inhumane. But the government always got away with things no matter what it was. They'd always cover up their tracks as if nothing happened or take credit for something they didn't do. Like in Alabasta. But what in the world could Genra have done to make her punishment so heavy?
Why Genra?
All the answers to his burning questions lay in terminated files and Genra's tales that are yet to be told. Nothing but lab records remain but that didn't help much at all. And Smoker's knowledge failed him. He had only heard Genra's name twice ever and even then was the mentions vague and he doubts anyone will remember her from how long ago her name was spoken. This time, the government really outdid themselves in erasing the existence of things. They wanted to give her a new identity.
A new life.

The next morning a guard had told Smoker that he had heard chirping sounds the night before but he thought nothing of it and early this morning, he heard it again. "Are you sure it couldn't just be birds out the window?" Tashigi queried. "No Lieutenant. It sounded like it was coming from inside the building and not outside. It's very odd." "Maybe a bird flew through the window when you weren't looking. What do you think Captain?" Smoker hummed then walked off, "Fireflies don't light up at day."
"Uh, yeah... But what's that got to do with anything?" Confused, Tashigi followed her captain to the prison cells. "Birds don't leave their nests at night unless they're nocturnal, which I highly doubt there's any bird like that flyin' around Loguetown." He replied and Tashigi exclaimed, feeling a little dumb. "You think Genra has something to do with the birds?" Smoker pondered for a second, "It could be anything but I wouldn't be surprised if it was Genra. And if it isn't then there wouldn't be much to think of it. It's just birds that were flyin' around the base at an odd hour."
"Guess there's only one way to find out," Tashigi shrugged as they walked through the doors to the prison cells, stepping quietly to the furthest cell. Carefully placing their feet to not alarm the birds, if there is or was. It was quiet in the cells and the soft chirps and whistles of a bird confirmed the guard's statement. There really was a bird in the cells and it could only come from Genra's. Or maybe 3. There were one too many chirps to come from a single bird and just as Smoker and Tashigi peeked their heads around the cell wall, the chirps and whistles stopped.
Now, Genra stared with half-lidded dull eyes at the two figures before her. Instead of glares with murderous intent, it was rather a look of tiredness but mostly irritation that these familiar Marines won't leave her alone. Genra sat cross-legged against the wall opposite the bars they left her asleep and at her feet were two small birds hopping around the cell. It had flown in through the windows of the other empty cells. They opened their fleeting wings and Genra whistled just like a bird and to Smoker and Tashigi's astonishment, the birds remained in the cell by Genra's orders.
Tashigi's jaws dropped, "D-did she just- Did you see that Captain? She just talked to... a bird!" Tashigi's excitement began to irritate Genra and she began to growl, making her quiet down. "Sorry," Tashigi muttered, remembering Genra doesn't like noise at all. "Well, that's one problem I can't solve." Smoker sighed. "You knew she could do this?" she looked at Smoker "Yeah. I was told by Akainu that they never kept any sort of animal around her because who knows what she'll order the animals to do. It would be impossible to do keep all animals away in Loguetown."
For some reason, Smoker remembered the voice he heard last night,"...But she still holds so many more secrets..." Tashigi pondered about this newfound information, "It sounds as if they..." "...Feared their own creation." Smoker continued, completing the same thought and Genra huffed in amusement.
She very much liked the idea that the people she so bitterly resented, regretted what they made of her. This was the first time that her response wasn't something out of anger, fear or irritation. "Don't get cocky here! You're still very much a prisoner." Smoker snapped but the very corner of Genra's lips curled into the faintest of smiles before whistling to the birds and they took off flying high in the morning sky.
"Not for long, Cloud Chaser," she whispered.

a/n: I just realised when I was looking at my blog that 'Oh shit! I forgot my comfort character? How the fu-*angry screams*' But anyway... my comfort character is... Franky!!! *confetti*. And this is how I met him *smiles proudly*
Characters: Franky x Younger!Me
Type of work/text: Self-comfort, Self-ship
Synopsis: How I met my comfort character, Franky
Warnings: Fluff
After Franky joined the Straw Hats, the crew bid farewell to Water 7 and were on their way to new adventures together when shortly after they realised that Many was nowhere to be seen on the ship.
"Oi! Did anybody see Many? She was just here like 10 minutes ago." Zoro called out from the window of the crow's nest. He was having a well-needed nap in his new favourite spot on the new ship with Many at his side, although she couldn't sleep because she was too excited to learn and explore the new environment. Not that she actually takes naps during the day.
She played around with the gym equipment and the telescope before laying next to Zoro and then leaving without a sound. Many had a tendency to go from place to place unannounced like a phantom who could move through walls.
"Nope. But she should be tinkering around with the ship somewhere." Sanji answered from the rails. "Oh god. It's such a large ship with so many intriguing things, she won't sit still for a week." Nami sighed then chuckled. "Such a curious little one." Robin happily added.
Everyone went back to doing their own thing knowing Many will show herself soon enough when she came trotting along from the bathroom wrapped in a towel. "Robin! I can't find my clothes. I don't remember where I put my suitcase." She said with a few tears in her eyes.
"Oh Many, you just put down your suitcase wherever without thinking. Excitement got the best of you, hm?" Robin shook her head. "Yeah..." She guiltily replied. "And even if she did look for it with perfect vision, she can't find anything to save her life." Luffy laughed. "But I need my clothes now. I can't stay in my towel." Many had already taken a shower forgetting to set aside clothes for after her shower.
"That's not very clever of you." Franky patted her wet hair. "I know..." Many softly replied. "Tell you what. You can borrow my shirt until you find your suitcase alright?" Franky took off his tropical shirt and slipped it on Many's little body, buttoning up the oversized shirt then wrapping her wet hair in the towel.
"Thank you!" She smiled at Franky. "No problem kiddo." He smiled back and Many lifted her arms, wanting to be carried. Franky was a little confused but then scooped her up in his big arms. She giggled as she began playing with his electric blue hair, "Let's go to your workspace! I want to see what you make there!" "Alright. Off we go!" Many cheered as Franky playfully made his way to the weapons development room.
There Franky found Many's suitcase in the corner of the room, "Hey Many, your suitcase is here. You can use your clothes now." "Oh, so this is where left it. I'll take it to my room." She dashed off with her suitcase and returned to Franky's workshop still wearing his shirt. "Oi, you can give my shirt back now." "No!" Many ran as Franky chased her around the ship. "She's already grown so close to him. Now there's no way he's getting that shirt back." Usopp shook his head and the crew sighed in agreement.
After a few minutes of being chased, Franky gave up and Many disappeared once again only to reappear standing on the rails with her hands on her hips and head tilted proudly. "Many? What did you do to your hair?" Chopper asked. "I dyed my hair! Just like Franky!" She gave a smile full of teeth. "Many... we don't have hair dye..." Nami stared at her. "That's my powdered paint..." Many's smile slowly faded, "P-powdered paint?" Many screamed and cried for an hour until Robin reassured her it will wash off eventually.
Franky ended up having to wash out the paint, by Nami's orders, which stained it for the next month. Many was not happy about it for the first few days but she ended up liking it and forgot about the situation after a while. Franky also never got his shirt back because 'he was the cause of Many's hair and for reparations, she will keep his shirt forever, never to return it' as said by a still tearing Many in the bathtub.

Characters: Royal! Male X Royal! Female
Type of work/text: One-shot/Ficlet
Synopsis: A prince met a princess and they fell in love but little did he know that she was his enemy and his kingdom's downfall
Warnings: blood, angst, murder, betrayal, regret, death
He lied on the ground with a dagger in his heart as she pinned him down with her knees beside him, hands still on the blade. Tears welled up in her eyes as she slowly pulled out the dagger with a shaky hand. The removal of the blade caused a shock of pain through his body as it slowly faded again to the open wound in his chest.
"Ouch. That hurt, " he said with a chuckle. "It's a critical hit," he joked. A twitch of his lips pulled the corners of his mouth into a small painful smile. The tears in her eyes flowed down her cheeks at the sight of his smile and the open wound in his chest.
How can someone still joke and smile when their loved one put a dagger through their heart and they're on the very last strand of life?
She couldn't understand it. She couldn't understand him.
"Ah!" He exclaimed as his punctured heart pumped the last bit of blood it could as it began to slowly shut down. The blood flowed out of his heart instead of into it. He surely couldn't take any kind of pain. Physical pain. Mental pain. But if there was one pain he couldn't tolerate or heal from, it was emotional pain.
The pain of betrayal from the only person he had ever loved.
It hurt but he still couldn't help but look at her with contempt and happiness and... love. "This is it. This is how I die. This is how I wanted to die..." His smile widened as he reached his hand up to wipe away his lover's tears from her eyes, bloody fingers leaving a stroke behind on her cheek.
Like war paint but the marking was too late to adorn. The battle of kingdoms and rivals and enemies. The war is long over but it isn't just any war between enemies, it was the war of lovers. The victor had turned out to be the princess but she didn't want to be the winner. Victory never tasted so bitter.
With the last bit of energy he had left, he spoke "I always knew you'd be my demise..." He breathed his last as his hand fell, her cheek feeling cold as his warmth had left her instantly. She wanted to say 'sorry'. She had so much to explain and just one question to ask of him but it was too late. She stared into space hoping this was just one of his childish jokes. Hoping this was just a dream. Hoping this wasn't... real.
But alas, she found no hope and the feeling of loneliness began to slowly and agonisingly set in. It took its time as if it was torturing her until her eyes filled with tears all other again. Her tears followed like fountains in the lushest of royal gardens.
With all the anger she could pull out of her body, she took a hold of the dagger again and darted it into the ground right beside his head as a blood-curdling scream left her lungs. All the guilt and shame and pain could be heard in every vibration of her voice for miles across the corpse-filled battlefield. But no matter how many times she could plant a dagger into the ground or scream her lungs out, she still wouldn't be able to get rid of all the emotions she never ever wanted to feel.
The memories and feelings will forever haunt her and not a second will go by where she doesn't question herself
Why?

So I was just on Wikifandom reading about Smoker out of boredom and I stumbled across a very interesting thing. Smoker is a marine and like any other person in the marines, they were all once a rookie.
But let's focus on his hair for a sec
Before the time skip, he has greenish fluffy looking hair in the anime and his haircut isn't anything out of the ordinary. Just a normal hairstyle but still looks good
In the time skip, Smoker has a new haircut with an undercut and slicked back hair which in my opinion looks really amazing but what if I were to show you a hairstyle of when he was younger.
Get ready for it *confetti*
Rookie Smoker
*awkward smile* What tf is this???
Somebody please explain to me because this is not how I envisioned Smoker when he was younger. I wonder if the WG makes the rookies shave off their heads in training or if this is upon their free will cuz if it is, I'm mad at Smoker and I don't know why. And now seeing Smoker like this makes me wonder what the other admirals look like with shaven heads.
*cursed images of bald marines everywhere flashing in my head*
Ya know what? No! I don't wanna know
Now that we're on the topic of bald Smoker, he reminds me of a character in one piece but I have no idea who
a/n: I just realised that I may have used the names too much in the chapter so I'll try using more pronouns in coming chapters, just don't know what happened with this chapter. Also, this chapter took agonisingly long because I had some technical difficulties with myself and my motivation but now I'm finally done with this chapter so here ya go!
Characters: Smoker, OC
Type of work/text: Chapter
Spoiler: None
Synopsis: OC takes a tour of Loguetown and gets settled in her new home
Warning: unintentional choking
Third-person POV
The ship had reached the port of Loguetown and Smoker could tell that everyone was exhausted but who could blame them. "Soldiers, you can take a break until midnight. Including you Tashigi. You've all earned it. You are dismissed!" Smoker announced and all the soldiers deeply sighed in relief, dispersing to go do whatever. It was extremely rare that they got such an opportunity so they took full advantage of the 4 hours of freedom. Tashigi was reluctant at first to leave but Smoker reassured her that it was fine and she left.
Genra looked at all the guards leaving, feeling confused. She then turned to Smoker who was already waiting to see what she would do. "You want to go and explore don't you?" Smoker asked and Genra remained silent, admitting to Smoker's claim. "Fine, but you are not leaving my side," Smoker sighed and turned to walk on but Genra remained behind. "What?" Smoker asked and Genra lifted her hands, gesturing to the cuffs.
Smoker got the idea and pulled out the keys to her cuffs, unlocking all of them except for two. The cuff on her wrist and the one on her neck. Genra stepped back and rubbed her raw, red wrist and ankles, whatever had kept her bound for so long had left deep scars but she didn't care. Smoker stared at the scars for a moment and felt something pull in his chest. It was the slightest of tugs but he felt it. Genra then lifted her feet one by one, feeling that unbearable heavyweight had finally been lifted off her.
He then grabbed a hold of the chain connected to Genra's wrist. He didn't plan on pulling Genra around with the chain, it was only to make sure that she didn't run away. He thought that if he gave Genra a little bit of freedom in the market, he could learn more about her and what attracted her and also see how she would do in an environment full of people.
Genra looked at Smoker and he gestured for her to go on and with reluctance, she began walking. They stood just outside of the marketplace where it was quiet so Genra had to walk into the marketplace first which made Smoker nervous. How would she react to people walking around aimlessly or store clerks calling out to people to buy from them? Well, Smoker just had to see what would happen and if anything goes wrong, he at least has a chain on her and with that, they took their first steps into the marketplace.
As Genra stepped into the crowd, she glared at everyone she saw and they all scurried away from her. At least Smoker won't have to worry about her attacking people who would accidentally brush past her. Genra started walking at a slow pace, taking her time to learn about the new environment. Smoker found himself enjoying the stroll around Loguetown however he couldn't help but take notice of Genra's hair. Although her hair looked naturally blonde, the ends were black.
It puzzled Smoker because the scientists wouldn't bother to treat the test subjects' wounds, much less dye their hair. And the hair doesn't naturally change so drastically in colour from black to blonde. It truly is an unnatural thing. Genra wandered through the streets and found herself at the main attraction of Loguetown, the place where the King of pirates was executed, the execution platform. The platform of steel towered over Genra and Smoker as she gazed up at it in awe. Smoker gazed high into the sky, mesmerised by all the stars. He liked the view so much that he had absentmindedly let go of the chain to Genra's cuff.
It made so much as a clank as it fell to the floor and as soon as he realised what he had done, Smoker stomped his heel on the chain and Genra's wrist was yanked. Genra turned around thinking Smoker did that to catch her attention but he only waved her off saying it was nothing. Genra rolled her eyes and continued to stare at the platform, getting the sudden urge to climb atop it to gaze down at Loguetown. For some reason, she had taken a great liking to Loguetown and only wanted to see more of it.
Smoker noticed that Genra couldn't take her eyes off of the platform, "You seem drawn to the platform," Smoker said with a hint of amusement. Genra remained silent, taking a few steps forward until the hand chain tightened and then she stopped, glancing back at Smoker. "What?" He asked and Genra huffed, pulling on the chain and Smoker lifted his foot, picking up the chain. She then pointed to the top of the platform to which Smoker scoffed, "That's where the King of pirates was executed and not too long ago, some troublesome pirate brought the entire platform down. And you're not going up there. Come on, let's go," Smoker gently pulled Genra in the opposite direction, becoming annoyed at the remembrance of the incident and she slowly followed him, still staring back at the platform.
Smoker once again led Genra to the market place and she ended up leading her way around again and surprisingly enough, she had become much calmer than she was. She wasn't so anxious and on edge and Smoker noticed immediately, although he wasn't complaining. He also noticed that Genra found children amusing. It must have been because she hasn't been around a young human full of energy in who knows how long she's been in labs and whatnot and Smoker's assumption was right, she really liked flowers and plants. She would stop walking immediately in the street when she came across a florists shop and just stare at the plants in the window but wouldn't take a single step towards the shop. Just stare at it.
It was as if she was learning about the world all over again like a child going to school for the first time. Everything amazed her and Smoker was surprisingly patient with her. He didn't tug on the chains and let her lead the way. He thought that if he gave her a bit of freedom to go where she wanted to, he could learn something about her and sure enough, Smoker learnt more than he expected to. More than the files on her could tell him. The list of her likes had finally begun to fill up and Smoker was the one to fill those in. However, Smoker and Genra knew very well that this freedom wouldn't last very long.
As they walked on for the rest of the night, Genra became a little sluggish but wouldn't stop walking. She wanted to see more but Smoker couldn't let her do so because it was almost midnight. Smoker gently tugged on the chain and Genra immediately stopped walking and looked back. "It's almost midnight which means it's time to go," Smoker turned on his heel without waiting for Genra and walked a few steps forward, stopping when the chain tightened and wouldn't budge. Smoker turned to find Genra's gaze turn into a scowl.
Smoker knew very well what that scowl meant and he wasn't going to put up with her tantrums. "You've had your chance to see the town to your heart's content but you are still a very dangerous prisoner under my supervision and you will have to do as I say," Smoker stepped towards Genra and glared down at her. His large muscular stature towered over her tiny form making her look like a mouse before a large house cat. Smoker's stern and intimidating gaze would make anyone tremble but Genra never batted her eyelid. Whatever Smoker glared at her with, she glared right back with those unnaturally yellow-ish gold eyes of hers.
With a puff of thick smoke in Genra's face, Smoker looked away, "And anyway, you must be tired from all that walking around on not a wink of sleep-" He paused abruptly. "We're going now whether you like it or not," Smoker turned on his heel as he grabbed her neck chain and began dragging Genra behind him, her startled reaction caused her to stumble forward, finding it hard to keep up with Smoker's long and fast strides to the base. Once she got a hold of her footing, she began pulling back on the chain, not wanting to leave but Smoker wouldn't budge at all. It was like a one-sided game of tug of war and Genra became frustrated.
Smoker had the upper hand and she didn't like it at all. Genra continued to pull on her neck chains with her head, hands and whatever limb she could use to stop Smoker from putting her in that cell. She pulled and pulled and the collar chains became tighter and tighter around her neck. She would stop at nothing, even if it meant that she'd strangle herself. She choked and coughed on the collar but no matter how hard she fought against Smoker's brute strength and amidst the commotion in the crowd, Smoker's hold just wouldn't let up.
"You will get into that cell whether you like it or not!" Smoker said in a demanding tone as he dragged Genra through the doors of the base, she had given up her struggle due to tiredness but Smoker was too busy concentrating on getting her in the base to notice. He then came to an empty prison cell and Genra finally caught her breath, coughing as she held her knees for support. In that short break, Smoker had opened the gate to the cell, now waiting for Genra to get into the cell. She caught her breath and looked up at Smoker, glaring through her blond tendrils.
"Get in," Smoker commanded and Genra surprisingly listened, seeing that there was no use in fighting any further. She begrudgingly stepped into the cell, still glaring at Smoker as he locked the cell gate shut. "Give me your hand," Genra gave her wrist with the heavy cuff and Smoker unlocked it, clinging as it fell to the floor. She rubbed her red, raw wrist, another scar revealed from all the restraints. "Turn around, please," Smoker flipped through the ring of keys until he came to the fifth and final one. Genra stepped back with a distrusting stare, what could he want?
"Don't worry, I won't hurt you," Her eyes flitted to the keys in Smoker's hand and although she didn't trust Smoker, she turned around. Smoker reached his empty hand through the cell bars, fingers ever so carefully parting the hair on her neck to reveal the keyhole on the neck chain. Genra growled lowly, feeling her blond hair being touched without her consent but she didn't retaliate knowing that the chain will finally be off of her. Smoker turned the key and the neck chain fell to the ground, a sigh of relief and satisfaction left Genra's mouth, feeling her airways expand to their full extent without restriction.
Now the only form of restriction left on Genra was the shock collar but because there were no loaded vials and the remote to the collar was still hopefully left on the ship, she let it be. Genra found no use in scratching or pulling on it but even if she tried to take it off, she wouldn't be able to because that collar was made to go on and never for it come off ever again. It would stay there around her neck forever and ever.
Genra slumped against the bars as Smoker picked up the chains, throwing them over his shoulder and staring at her, "Make yourself comfy because this is your new cell. Your new home," Smoker began walking out but stopped immediately as something so sweet and something so soft filled his ears. It was so faint he nearly missed it but now he couldn't believe his ears. Were they tricking him because he knew damn well that he heard something but only his mind couldn't process it? The simple word filled and played on loop in his head. Loguetown.

Synopsis: Relaxing with their s/o after an eventful day
Warnings: None
It was the end of the first day of Zoro's training as night had begun to set in. Everyone sat down for dinner and headed for bed after, while you and Mihawk decided to have some alone time. You both sat at the fireplace and did your own things, just enjoying each other's company in silence.
The only sounds that filled the room were the crackling of the fire and your occasional turning of the pages.
Mihawk sat with a glass of wine in his hand watching the flames of the fire illuminating the room to a dim glow while you read through a new book you had found laying around.
After reading a chapter or two, you placed the book into your lap and looked up at the man sitting across you. Mihawk noticed your little movement and turned his head, his normally yellowish eyes glowed gold in the fire's light.
You stared into his captivating eyes for a moment before he spoke up, "What's wrong?" He asked and you snapped out of your daze and chuckled. "I was just thinking about Zoro and his training. He reminds me a lot about you," You smiled.
"How so?" Mihawk asked putting his glass of wine down beside him, giving you his full attention. "I don't know. He's just very strong and is really determined. It just made me wonder what made you accept to train him," You mumbled and Mihawk hummed, picking up his glass of wine.
"He's very determined, that's right. And also, I see a lot of potential in him if he is to defeat me in battle. I've been undefeated for a long time, it's getting a little boring. He'll keep me busy for a while," Mihawk said with a hint of amusement.
"And what about me? Don't I keep you busy?" you teased and Mihawk looked at you with confusion, taking your words a little seriously. "I'm just kidding. Don't take it so seriously," You laughed and Mihawk relaxed, taking the last sip of wine before it was empty.
"Although I do want to get back into swordsmanship. I miss it," You sighed and Mihawk got up from his chair walking towards you, putting out the fire in the process. You looked up at him as he placed his hand on your cheek, placing a soft tender kiss upon your forehead.
"No problem my love. If that is what you want to do then I will be more than happy to help you. Just don't push yourself too hard, you're still healing from your injury," He whispered, staring into your eyes.
"Don't worry, I won't," You gave him a gentle smile feeling tired. "Come, let's go to bed," Mihawk held your hand as he led you through the castle halls to bed for a well-needed rest. You both will be needing as much energy as possible for the training, Mihawk for Zoro's training and you for your training.

Characters: Smoker, OC

Synopsis: Genra has an interesting reaction to touch and even clothes and is also let out from the cage
Warnings: blood, self-harm
Third-person POV
Tashigi opened the door to where Genra stayed not long after Smoker left with a kimono and sash in her hands. She stepped toward the cage and before she could announce her presence, Genra turned around and stared at the blue floral kimono. Tashigi extended her hand and Genra walked up to her, still staring at the kimono and sniffed at it. Tashigi found the actions weird and tried hard not to pull her hand away.
When Genra stopped sniffing the kimono, she looked at Tashigi with confusion. "Take it. You can have it. You wouldn't want perverts to be staring at you. As it is, you've been exploited enough don't you think? Go on, put it on," With one last glance at the kimono, Genra took it from Tashigi's hands and slipped her arms through it. It was big since Tashigi is a relatively tall person so it hung off of her form but as soon as the kimono was fully draped over her body, Genra began scratching at her skin beneath the kimono's cloth. It took every fibre in her body to prevent herself from tearing the kimono to shreds so she scratched at her skin instead.
She liked it a little too much to tear it apart because of the floral patterns but she didn't know how to express her confusion. It only resulted in her harming herself. She stopped scratching at her skin and begun growling and screaming at the piece of cloth. Thankfully it wasn't those loud and alarming screams to cause another panic in the soldiers but it was just enough for the room next door to hear. Seeing that growling at a piece of cloth wasn't doing anything, she began scratching at her skin again but much deeper this time.
Some parts of her skin were scratched so hard that it began to draw little beads of blood. Poor Tashigi had begun to panic and quickly shut the door, locking it to make sure the guards stayed out and the sound stayed in. "I-It's alright. Calm down," Her voice was shaky, "It's just a piece of cloth. I promise it won't hurt you. But right now, you're hurting yourself! You've got to stop that!" Genra took one last deep scratch at herself from her shoulders all the way to her wrists before freezing.
Genra held her breath and her body stiffened, her fist clenched tightly at her sides and just when Tashigi had thought that she had calmed down, Genra roared her loudest at Tashigi, letting out all of her panics. Tashigi flinched and when Genra had become silent, she slowly opened her eyes. "That's a better way at letting out your feelings instead of harming yourself. It's more effective and less painful, isn't it?" Tashigi said in a low voice as Genra glared at her.
"Nevermind that, tie it up with this sash. I think it would look even better if you do. It's not the traditional kind of sash so it won't be difficult for you to tie it around you. It's actually just a normal piece of cloth," Tashigi chuckled and handed the sash to Genra and she hesitantly took it. She tied the sash around her waist and with a few adjustments, Genra was looking the most dashing she's been in 16 years.
Genra still hated the idea of clothes on her but Tashigi really liked it. She never really had the chance to wear kimonos so it would just lay in her cupboard. Tashigi unknowingly smiled and Genra continued to glare at her, not liking the attention. It took a second for Tashigi to realise what she was doing and cleared her throat, "I'll be going now," she stuttered and she turned on her heel and left the room, closing the door behind her, noticing how timid Genra became when she left.
"If only she knew how beautiful she looked in that kimono," Tashigi muttered to herself. She had taken an interest in Genra more than she'd like to admit but she became tiring to handle. Tashigi was still committed to her duties but handling a failed test subject as a prisoner wasn't exactly what she signed up for. She trotted her way to the upper deck to where Smoker was looking ahead to Loguetown. Smoker heard Tashigi's footsteps upon the deck and looked over his shoulder as she walked up beside him.
He noticed that she trembled beside him but said nothing about it. "Captain Smoker, I did what you have asked of me. Is there anything else you'd like me to do?" "Not that I can think of," Smoker answered and a long silence followed. Tashigi didn't say anything and neither did Smoker until he asked about Genra. "I heard Genra's screams from all the way here. What happened?"
Tashigi took a deep breath before answering, "When I gave her the kimono, she seemed to have liked it but when she put it on, she absolutely hated it. I don't know what was going on inside her head but... she was fighting with herself. She was greatly conflicted and it took everything for her to not tear that kimono to shreds. I don't know why she fought with herself or what she fought about, but she refused to take off the kimono. She was self-destructive and instead of taking it off... she clawed at her skin so hard it drew blood." Smoker was astonished and stared at Tashigi.
"But I thought she had a really high pain tolerance?" Smoker raised a brow. "She does. She wouldn't stop clawing at her skin until I told her to. I don't think she even noticed the blood dripping from her shoulders. When she did stop, she screamed instead of scratching at herself. It's sort of like changing the way she is taking out her anger or fear, whichever one it was. It was frightening to see her harm herself or to hear her screams. I'm still shaken up from that," Tashigi shuddered and Smoker continued to stare at her with a bit of worry in his eyes.
Tashigi's safety is his priority so it's only natural that he'd worry about her. "I can see but..." Smoker sighed but never completed his thought. Something had begun to very slowly eat up at him but he wouldn't tell. "What is it, Captain?" Tashigi turned to Smoker. "It's nothing," Smoker shook his head and Tashigi turned away not wanting to instigate. "Anyway, I want to release Genra from the cage when we are transporting her. There is something I want to test," Smoker continued.
What an absurd idea. What is it that he needs to test something that he'd let such danger out? "B-but Captain-" "I know. Just trust me on this," Smoker huffed, cutting off Tashigi before he could be questioned for his reckless ideas. "Alright," Was all Tashigi said with uncertainty in her voice before she turned around and continued with the preparation of moving Genra to the base. "Let's see what you'll do now that you aren't caged up," Smoker thought as he continued to gaze at Loguetown in the distance, waiting patiently to arrive.
For a second Smoker thought of sitting in his office with his feet propped up upon his desk and taking a well-needed break from his work. That's right, a break. A moment of peace. Smoker felt comfortable in that thought. All this mumbo jumbo of the government's failed experiments and babysitting a storm of a person with serious anger issues had stressed him out more than he had realised. It felt good to just think about it until his mind drifted to the tyrant on the deck below.
Smoker groaned in frustration at the thought of all the extra work he has to deal with Genra. He rubbed his temple, massaging the growing headache. It was only a flicker of pain so when he stopped rubbing, the pain went away. He decided to go to the deck below where Genra was to maybe talk to her. Nothing in particular and only small talk, not that she can give a reasonable or understandable response but he thought he might make some progress in getting to know her.
He's read all the reports and information on her but it didn't exactly satisfy his curiosity. There is only so much information that you can read about a person because you haven't gotten to know the actual person. They could be much different from what people write about although nothing was different from what he read to what he sees so he went below deck anyway. Smoker slowly opened the door to find Genra pacing around her cage. "Hello troublemaker," Smoker chimed.
Genra's head whipped to look at Smoker and she glared. "I heard that you didn't want to wear the kimono and began clawing at your skin. It sounds... painful," Smoker's eyes trailed down to Genra's wrists to see trickles of blood. The blood hadn't dried as yet and Genra looked at the back of her hand and her eyes widened in surprise. Tashigi was right, Genra hadn't even noticed that she was bleeding. Genra brought her hand up to her mouth and began licking the back of her hand clean.
"You wanna get that checked out?" Smoker asked, watching Genra now stare at her arms. She growled one that wasn't threatening and looked up at Smoker. "Alright. Well, I came to tell you that your journey on this ship is coming to an end and so you will be transferred to the prison cells of my base," Smoker stated in a bored tone and Genra glared. "However, there is a slight change in the procedure. You won't be transported in your cage because it will attract unwanted attention from the public. Alright?" Genra stopped glaring and looked up at the lock on her cage and stared. Oh, how she longed to be out of this box.
Her staring was interrupted when a familiar rattle made her look at Smoker. It could only be one thing and one thing only. The keys to the cage. Genra watched as Smoker stretched up and unlocked the lock and flipped open the lid. When Smoker was done unlocking the cage a silence fell and Genra didn't make any attempt to get out of the cage. Seeing that Smoker did nothing but stand there patiently, she jumped and shakily landed on the rim of the cage.
Smoker took a step back as Genra jumped down with the softest of thumps upon landing, her chains clanking with her movements. She stood stiff before Smoker and he turned around and opened the door, "Follow me," Smoker said walking through the door and Genra reluctantly followed.
As Smoker led Genra to the upper deck, he would have to glance back over his shoulder to make sure that Genra was still there because all he heard in the hallways were his footsteps and his only.
Genra had picked up all the rattling chains of her cuffs to prevent unnecessary noise. Her footsteps were also as light as a feather and it only made a sound when she stepped onto a creaky floorboard. It couldn't have been because she was barefoot. After all, even when she stepped onto a loose floorboard, it didn't even creak as loud as it normally does. It must have been just how she's built but it bothered Smoker. The thought of either Genra disappearing behind him or the unnaturally silent footsteps of someone following him scared him. What isn't normal can bother anyone.
They walked onto the deck of the ship and Genra stopped, gazing up at the starry sky. It had been years since she had been outside in the open and all she could was stare at the stars in awe. Smoker stopped and looked back at Genra, feeling her presence no longer behind him, to find her staring at the sky. He let her have her little moment, understanding that he would've felt the same not being able to interact with the outside world. She slowly lowered her head and her sight fell onto Loguetown in the distance.
With her gaze locked onto the nightlights of Loguetown, Smoker watched silently as she began tiptoeing towards the bow of the ship, not saying a single word. She eyed the canon at the bow and climbed on top of it, taking a step and two, not minding where she placed her foot on the slippery metal and she nearly slipped. Smoker gasped and ran up to her thinking that she'd fall off but she caught herself in time and walked to the tip of the canon.
The wind blew through her blonde hair and she missed the sensation of cold wind blowing on her skin. She closed her eyes in bliss and lifted her arms to come in line with her shoulders as if she were a bird flying high in the sky. And for a moment she felt... free. She slowly opened her eyes and began twirling and dancing on the canon. She was rusty on her dance pattern and her moves were clumsy. Genra didn't quite care, she was enjoying herself and the little bit of freedom she had although Smoker felt that he should probably get her down from there because if she fell, he wouldn't be able to save her. But he left her anyway.
And if she did fall, it would be a small price to pay for her actions and Smoker didn't mind having to get her out of the sea whichever way he'd have to do it. Genra continued to dance and Smoker watched her every move become more graceful with every step. The way she tiptoed and moved on the ball of her foot, the way she flicked her wrists, the way she closed her eyes enjoying every moment and the way she skillfully twirled on the round slippery canon with little room to place your foot on.
Smoker watched the little movements she made, not taking his eyes off of her for a second. Her style of dancing wasn't familiar to him but he really liked it. When the dance had come to an end, Smoker caught himself staring and looked away but he wanted to see more of the dance. It was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. Whether it was the performer who made the dance look better than it was or if it was the dance itself that was beautiful, he couldn't tell and he for sure did not want to know.
Just as Smoker wanted to tell Genra to come down, Tashigi walked upon the deck. Smoker held up his hand at Tashigi knowing that she had something to tell him, signalling to her to not say a word. Tashigi closed her mouth from her silenced words and walked up beside Smoker. It was only then that she realised that Genra stood on the tip of the canon at the edge of the ship. "Captain?" Tashigi whispered. "What is Genra doing over there?" Tashigi stared at Genra's back.
"She wanted to see where we were headed and then she began dancing on it," Smoker said in a monotone. "Woah. That's impressive. The canon is round and slippery. How did she manage to do that?" Smoker shrugged, "I don't know. Maybe she's that good of a dancer but I find it very surprising that she remembered how to dance without missing a step," Tashigi was surprised but went on to tell Smoker what she had intended to say. "Anyway, Captain. We are ready to dock in less than 5 minutes. I just thought that I'd inform you,"
Smoker looked at Tashigi with shock and then looked at Genra and then looked past her. He had been so distracted by Genra dancing that he didn't even notice how close they had come to the base. Loguetown was now just in an arms reach. Smoker hummed and walked up to the canon, "Genra," He said in a low voice not to alarm her. Genra turned her head to see Smoker staring at her. "It's time to come down now," Smoker held out his hand for her and she stared at it for a while.
Genra began tiptoeing her way towards Smoker and when he thought she'd take his hand, she ignored it and jumped down beside him with a thump. "That's the place you'll be staying in until whenever, Loguetown," Smoker said looking ahead and Genra immediately looked at him. Something he said had now caught her interest. Smoker looked at her noticing her sudden head movement, "What?" he asked and Genra looked away, glaring at him slightly. Smoker shook his head as Genra walked to the railing of the ship, still wanting to stare out to the town.

Synopsis: The ship is nearing its destination and they have begun with the preparations for the arrival
Warnings: slight angst, attempted harm, mentioned nudity
Third-person POV
Smoker entered the room the next day in which Genra stayed in and with a soft thud, he closed the door behind him. "Morning troublemaker," He greeted once his gaze fell on Genra. She remained seated in the exact position Smoker had left her in with her hand lightly resting on her knees. She hadn't moved an inch since then and her thighs turned pale with the lack of circulation. Genra only huffed a response. She didn't like the nickname Smoker gave her.
Smoker's eyes travelled from Genra to the plate of food he left there, untouched. "You haven't eaten?" Smoker asked but Genra remained silent. When Smoker didn't like her silence as a response, his eyes wandered to the furthest corner of the cage to find the muzzle thrown there. The buckle had broken and the leather straps had been snapped. He was amazed and mentally laughed at himself for not using his head to think. How could Genra possibly eat with the muzzle on? But then again, she went through the struggle of removing the muzzle and still didn't eat.
"My bad. I should've removed the muzzle so you could eat but seeing that it's now off, you can eat now. I'll go warm the food," Genra grunted as Smoker picked up the plate and left to warm the food. He had assumed she didn't want to eat since the food must have turned cold by the time she decided to eat. When Smoker arrived at the ship's kitchen, the cooks looked at him with confusion as he placed the food into the microwave and closed it shut. The cooks remained silent, too confused to say anything. The only sound that filled the kitchen was the beeping of the microwave buttons and the whirring of the microwave.
When the food was ready, Smoker took out the food from the microwave and left the kitchen, not saying a word knowing exactly why the cooks were confused and silent. He didn't say anything either since the silence didn't bother him and he had no reason to explain himself, leaving the cooks to never know the answer to what happened in the awkward moment in the kitchen.
Smoker returned to the room with a now steaming plate of food in his hands to Genra who still hadn't moved an inch. Smoker was quite shocked at this as he placed the plate of food onto the floor where it had last been. "You haven't moved a muscle since yesterday and I'm very sure that you haven't slept a wink since then. You didn't even turn your head the slightest bit when I entered. What's up?" Smoker tilted his head to the side.
Smoker had expected some sort of response from Genra. A huff, a grunt, a growl or even the slightest turn of her head but nothing came. Only silence. It had begun to worry Smoker. Such an aggressive and strong person such as Genra not even giving the slightest acknowledgement that Smoker was there. It made him wonder if Genra had become insane. Had all the experiments finally broken her and now she is unresponsive? But she had just reacted to Smoker calling her troublesome and she grunted when Smoker went to go and warm the food. Not even the slightest blow of wind that crept through the crevises had caused goosebumps on her skin.
"Genra?" Smoker called out and slowly stepped forward. She remained silent and dead still. "Genra?" Smoker called out once more, panic starting to flow into his body as he stepped closer to the cage. "Genra!" He banged onto the bars of the cage with his fists. "Answer me!" He rattled the cage and it finally earned him a reaction. Genra shook her head violently as if shaking troubling thoughts away.
She looked over her shoulder and gave a soft growl, finally responding to Smoker. It sounded more like an unbothered but pained growl than that of a threat. Smoker sighed heavily, dropping his head low and taking in deep breaths to compose himself. "Don't you ever do that again, ya hear me!" He scolded as he lifted his head again to look at Genra. And then, he caught a glimpse of what he thought were tears on her cheeks before she looked away and stared back at the wall. She gave an uninterested grunt and one by one began plucking the empty vials from her collar.
Genra let out light gasps of relief each time a vial was removed and she placed them beside her. Smoker watched with great interest as he didn't expect Genra to have the mental capacity to do the simplest of tasks. She can't say a single word and her vocabulary only consisted of animal sounds. Genra's ears twitched at the sound of thumping boots and marching guards in the passage and before a guard could enter, she shifted to her feet and grabbed a vial with the needle still attached to it and threw it with great force in the guard's direction.
It landed right beside his head and wedged itself deep into the wooden door frame. Whether it was the guard's instinct or Genra's slight miscalculation, the guard was lucky to have just missed it as it would have landed right into his eye. Smoker froze where he stood as it had also just missed him. He looked back to see the guard trembling with his rifle in his hands. "S-stay back!" He pointed his rifle at Genra but all she did was stare at him with a blank expression and half-lidded eyes, clearly bored and not surprised.
Smoker signalled to the guard and others behind him to lower their guns and once they did, Genra's legs gave in and she collapsed to the ground. Like any living organism, she had been sitting for so long that her joints became really stiff and it gave up. With her stiff knees and an instant rush of blood flowing through her legs, she finally began to feel the pain of sitting absolutely still for a day straight. She massaged her hips and knees for a minute before turning to face the wall once again.
"Maybe you should learn to move your position every few minutes. Your body is still one of a human and you're still technically a human," Smoker snickered at Genra to which growled in annoyance. "Anyway, aren't you gonna eat? You haven't eaten for a month or even longer. You might have the ability to not eat for a very long while but I have no use for it so..." Smoker pushed the plate of the food which was still warm, closer to the cage. "You need to eat," He crossed his arms over his chest and stared at Genra as she pulled her stiff knees to her chest, hugging it and curling up into a ball.
She remained silent and Smoker grew tired of trying and sighed, "Fine. Take the food away then. She's not interested," Smoker gestured to the food and a guard from behind him came stumbling forward and picked up the plate and left the room. "You are dismissed," Smoker commanded and everyone made a swift exit of the room leaving Smoker and Genra alone once again.
Tashigi came running into the room before Smoker could say anything. "Captain. Loguetown is in sight so we should arrive in about 2 hours. What should we do with the prisoner?" Tashigi came to stand beside Smoker. "We're arriving sooner than expected," Smoker was amazed and nodded. "We can start with putting some clothes on Genra. We don't want added attention when we move her from the ship to her cell," Smoker tried his best not to sound like a casual pervert but there was no other way to give the instruction. "Right," Tashigi looked at Genra and gazed down at the floor.
"I want only you to do it. I don't want any funny things happening with the soldiers so that's why I'm asking you to do it," Tashigi understood full well what Smoker meant but she became nervous. "But be careful. She's aggressive and from what I remember... she doesn't like clothes," If Tashigi was nervous, the challenge of clothing a really aggressive person only added to it but with her determination, she agreed to do it.
But then came a question, what was Genra going to wear? They had no prison uniform and if she were to wear the uniform of the soldiers it would be really weird but what else were they going to give her? Tashigi hadn't realised that she zoned out thinking about what to make Genra wear when Smoker called out to her multiple times. "Tashigi! You can get going now," Tashigi shook her head, pulling herself out of her thoughts. "S-sorry. I was just thinking of what to make her wear. We don't have any prisoner uniform," She had a good point, even Smoker had not thought about that.
Smoker scratched his head in thought and then Tashigi had thought about an old kimono she always left on the ship. "I have an old kimono in my quarters. I haven't used it in ages and I think she'd look good in it. And besides, I don't think she'll notice it on her since it isn't like a shirt and pants," Smoker thought about it and agreed with an affirmative nod. Tashigi dashed out of the room and Smoker followed, lighting a pair of cigars and blowing out clouds of smoke in the doorway.
He glanced back at Genra slowly rocking back and forth, "We'll be arriving at your new home so get ready. It's gonna be a long time for both you and me. See you around, Genra," Smoker closed the door behind him and Genra grunted, leaving her all by herself but not for long since Tashigi should be on her way soon enough.

Synopsis: OC wakes up from her deep sleep and causes a bit of a commotion
Warnings: slight aggression
Smoker's POV
I walked upon the deck of my ship and did so much as to glance at Tashigi with a bored expression. She scurried over with worry and confusion, "What happened Captain? You have dried blood in your ears," "It's alright Tashigi. I'm perfectly fine. We have a gift straight from the Admirals," I looked over my shoulder to Genra sleeping soundly in her cage, it's the most peaceful I've ever seen her.
"Our gift is a cage?" Tashigi peered past my shoulder. "There is a... female asleep in the cage. You'll meet her soon enough," I walked past Tashigi towards my office on the ship. "She's nake-" Tashigi pointed out. "I'm well aware of that. She absolutely despises clothes to the point of shredding it as soon as it makes contact with her skin," I snapped as I opened the door to my office. "There should also be another package that will come with her. Anyways, head for the base as soon as they load her. I'll be in my office if you need me," And with that, I slammed the door to my office shut.
~~~~~
Everything was smooth sailing since then but so many things were on my mind. The events in the basement playing over and over, Genra's inhumane aggressiveness, her sudden mood change from wanting to tear me to pieces to crying in a second, the customisation of a shock collar and the government's atrocities of experimenting.
I at least figured out a possible reason for Genra's behaviour. It's that she's scared. If I look at it, if such things were done to me, there's no doubt I'd act the way she does. For starters, she's intelligent enough to know who are the ones who put her through all that. She knew exactly who she should attack and why. She also knew that the Admirals were strong and her actions clearly showed she wanted nothing but their heads. If she were to show hesitation, it would be over for her.
The next reason is the shock collar. Although she might have been brave enough to attack, she is definitely afraid of their control over her with that device. It shocked her at a really high voltage and for nearly a minute, even my weapon became warm from all the electricity flowing through it. There are also four vials filled with tranquillizing liquid attached to the collar that can be injected into her with just a press of a button and there is no doubt that they use the strongest tranquillizer there is to send her to sleep. I'm guessing that it can put her to sleep for two weeks as Aokiji mentioned.
Shock collars are intended for dogs and the results of it are never good. Instead of it disciplining the dog, it does the exact opposite, it causes fear and aggression and this scenario is no different. If something is scared, it will either cower or fight back in fear, and Genra chose to fight. She harbours a lot of fear and anger in the form of aggression. Genra isn't an animal, she's just scared and misunderstood.
There was a soft knock on my door and it pulled me from my thoughts. "Come in," I replied and Tashigi opened the door. "Captain Smoker? There are crates filled with a mystery fluid and a small box with a remote and keys in it. It was loaded with the woman," Tashigi held a small wooden box in her hands as she walked into the room. It's late to ask what was loaded onto the ship since we left a week ago although I was intrigued. "Pass the box," I held out my hand and Tashigi placed the box in my hold.
I placed the box in my lap and opened it to find the remote and keys placed neatly beside each other. The remote had a dial and two buttons below it and was small enough to fit in my hand. I took it out of the box and closely inspected it in front of Tashigi. "What could it be used for?" Tashigi lowered her head to take a closer look at it in my hand. "It's for the collar around Genra's neck," I replied, flipping over the remote and removed the back to see what sort of batteries it took out of curiosity.
"Genra?" Tashigi questioned. That's right! I haven't told anyone her name. How careless of me. "The woman in the cage's name is Genra," I replied expecting some sort of response from Tashigi but none came. I snapped the back of the remote in place and looked up at Tashigi to find her eyes enlarged and jaw wide open. "There's no way that's her," Tashigi shook her head vigorously in disagreement. "I had heard what had happened. The government caught her and she disappeared without a trace. I thought that they had executed her," Tashigi had the same questions as me. "I had also thought so but here we are," I shrugged and Tashigi hummed as I repeatedly tossed the remote in the air and caught it. I probably shouldn't be playing around with the remote like that since I could unnecessarily harm Genra and I'm not in the mood for a rampage.
She's sleeping fine and isn't troubling anyone, so I placed the remote in a drawer of my desk and shut it. "I'll be on my way, sir," Tashigi turned to leave before I called out to her, "Catch, Tashigi!" I tossed the keys at her and she frantically turned around to see the keys flying in her direction. She clumsily caught the keys in her hand and when she did, she turned around, "Keep those keys safe," I said before she could say anything. Tashigi nodded and left the room, closing the door behind her. I sighed feeling unusually stressed, so I pushed back my chair slightly, kicked up my feet on my desk, and decided to take a nap. "I'll finally be back at my base. Home sweet home," I mumbled to myself as I drifted off to sleep.
A few weeks went by and Genra was still fast asleep. At a certain point, I thought that she had died because of how still she remained in that cage. I'd check on her every few days to make sure she was still breathing. I wouldn't want a dead passenger onboard and I strictly instructed that nobody is to enter the room she was in or make a single sound when passing by. I don't know how she would react if she was suddenly jolted out of sleep and she finds herself panicking in an unfamiliar place. It would be different if she was asleep in that basement. She could bounce off the walls and not a lot of damage would happen to the infrastructure but she's not in that basement. She's on my ship. She could tear the ship to shreds if somebody just made the slightest mistake.
It had been exactly a month since Genra had been put into that deep sleep and about 2 days away from the base when she woke up. I had just walked out of my office to do the usual routine of checking up on Genra when a few guards came sprinting my way, "Sir! The prisoner is awake!" I couldn't tell if she was being her aggressive self or if they were just panicking that she had awoken but their panting had told me what I need to know.
I hadn't replied and sprinted off to the room. The sooner I get there, the better it was for everyone. I reached the room in less than five seconds, which I was sure that it was a record-breaking time to reach that room in all the years I had been on this ship but now was not the time to admire such a small achievement. I barged through the door to find many soldiers and Tashigi surrounding the cage and pointing their weapons at Genra who was growling and glaring at them.
"Captain!" Tashigi and the soldiers said in unison. "She woke up and then she tried attacking a soldier," Tashigi explained as her grip tightened around her sword. I looked around the room to find the man who went against my orders but all I saw were soldiers shaking with their guns pointed at Genra. "Nevermind that, I'll deal with that later. Just trust me on this and lower your weapons slowly and not a peep shall escape you," I said in a calm voice, stepping in between Tashigi and another soldier, gently pushing down their weapons. I could tell that Tashigi wanted to argue but she and the other soldiers obliged.
Genra's growling quietened down a notch but she still glared at them. I slowly crept forward towards the cage with my hands held up and palms empty, staring into Genra's eyes. "It's alright. We won't hurt you. I promise," When I came closer to the cage, about 5 steps away, Genra's growl hitched and I stopped creeping immediately. Her growls didn't stop even though I froze in the spot and then I noticed that she kept glancing at different parts of my body, searching for something.
I figured that it was my weapon on my back so I took it out of its holster and gently placed it on the ground before Genra. Even then, growls didn't stop and then it clicked, she was looking for the remote. "Tashigi, slowly creep out of here and into my office and open my draw. You should find the remote you saw in the box. Bring it here quietly," I said in a voice just louder than a whisper, not breaking eye contact with Genra. Tashigi resheathed her sword and tiptoed out of the room, her footsteps making feint sounds on the floorboards of the ship.
I listened closely, figuring out where Tashigi would be by the sounds of her footsteps while I kept my gaze on Genra. She never broke eye contact for even a second and the longer Tashigi took to get the remote, the slower time felt, only leaving a stressed and awkward silence. Tashigi returned from my office and crept back into the room. I held out my hand and she placed the remote in my palm. Genra began growling even louder when I took a hold of the remote.
She watched my hand cautiously as I held up the remote for her to see. "Here's the remote," I placed the remote to the far end of the room and only then did Genra stop gowling. "There we go," I cheered internally, finally feeling like I was winning at something. The soldiers in the room realised that they had stopped breathing and took a breath of relief as I slowly stood up, picking up my weapon from the ground, and looked at Genra still glaring at me. She still doesn't trust me. "You may leave," I said not turning my back on Genra and she slowly sat back down with her legs crossed on the cold metal floor, not even flinching.
"And get her some food. She must be starving," I ordered and everyone left the room except for Tashigi. "Wow that was stressful," She sighed holding her head. "It was," I replied in a monotone. "We're lucky that we acted just in time," I said, lighting myself another pair of cigars. "I agree," Tashigi sighed once again and remained silent after. Something was on her mind. "Hm? What is it?" I asked looking at her over my shoulder.
"Nothing. It's just that I've never seen you handle a person like that. It's a little surprising," Tashigi sheepishly smiled and I thought about what she had said for a second before replying. "You're right. But if I wasn't careful with handling her, who knows what she'll do. And you know that," I pulled hard on my cigars and let out a puff of smoke. "Yeah," Tashigi agreed. "I'll be going then, sir," She continued as she turned and was on her way. I could tell that everyone was tense with Genra on board but the atmosphere felt a little more relaxed after what happened.
I'm not sure why but all I can say is that I too feel a little less tense. It hadn't been a minute when a soldier walked into the room with a tray of food as I had instructed. "S-sir. The food," He said nervously, hands shaking as he held the tray. "Thanks," I said taking the tray from his hands and walking over to Genra, carefully placing the tray before her. Blank and confused, she did nothing but stare at the food. "Eat," Was all I said, placing my hands on my hips and gesturing towards the food. She growled at me not wanting to eat as if it was a command. She doesn't like being ordered around but if anything, eating would only benefit herself.
When I remained silent, she looked up at me with an annoyed and bored expression and turned around with her back facing me like a little kid. "Fine. I'll be going then," Not wanting to exert myself in pointless disputes, I turned on my heel heading for the door, finding the soldier who had brought the food still there. "What is it?" I asked and he stiffened up. "Sir! I was the one who walked into the room," I remained silent waiting for him to elaborate, resulting in me only staring at him. I wasn't exactly bothered about who walked into the room anymore. I was so tired at that moment that I just wanted to leave everything as it is.
He must have thought my gaze was a glare and nervously continued. "I-I was walking by the room and I heard the chains violently rattling. The rattling was loud enough that most of the people on the deck heard it and came rushing over. I panicked and barged into the room and so everyone followed. I apologize for creating an inconvenience!" He gulped down hard as I continued to stare at him.
I sighed, "It's alright. You're dismissed," I waved him off and he saluted, leaving the room to resume his duties. I followed the soldier and paused in the doorway, looking over my shoulder at Genra, "I'll visit you again tomorrow," She only grunted as I closed the door behind me, leaving Genra all by herself.
a/n: This is one of the many books I am writing and this is one I'm most proud of atm
Characters: Smoker, OC
Type of work/text: Chapter
Spoiler: Marineford
Synopsis: Smoker gets an unexpected and unusual gift from the Admirals
Warnings: unsexualised nudity, severe aggression, torture, mentions of torture & experiments
Third-person POV
The clean up of Marineford had begun after the attempted rescue of Ace which unfortunately resulted in his death. Smoker was about to board his ship back home when a soldier sent by Akainu approached him, "Sir!" The soldier saluted and Smoker nodded an approval. "Admiral Akainu has requested for your presence," Smoker found it odd that Akainu would want to see him so he slightly titled his head to the side, "What for?" Smoker asked in a slightly unamused tone.
The soldier remained silent for a second and replied in an unsure tone, "He has something he wants you to have," Now that was unexpected and Smoker became curious. "He has something for me?" Smoker asked and the soldier nodded. "Lead the way then," Smoker signalled to Tashigi to stay on the ship and was on his way.
~~~~~
Smoker was led to a room where Aokiji, Kizaru and Akainu sat in their chairs waiting for him. "You wanted to see me?" Smoker stared at Akainu. "I have something to show you. I think it will benefit you," Akainu stood up and walked out of the room and everyone followed. Akainu led them to an elevator to the far right of the room. "Where are we going?" Smoker asked as they all stepped into the elevator. "You'll find out soon enough," Aokiji said with a hint of amusement as he pressed the last button on the panel which stood out from the rest.
Things began to feel very odd, almost suspicious to Smoker but he remained silent. The elevator stopped its descend and the doors opened with a 'ting' and the men stepped out into a massive dark room. It was so dark that Smoker couldn't see a thing but only heard a few calm clanks of chains. Aokiji stepped to the side and flipped the switch to the lights which were blinding for a second. Smoker blinked his eyes into focus and looked up to see something dangling above him.
He couldn't tell exactly what it was since it hung above the lights but the little illumination gave him an idea. A scientist in a lab coat with a clipboard came trotting along nervously, "A-admiral Akainu, you came earlier than expected but everything is ready," "Good," Was all Akainu said and the scientist called out to his colleagues, "Lower her!" The command was shortly followed by the mechanical whirring of a crane and clanks of chains lowering whatever was above them.
Smoker's gaze followed the object and it took him a second to realise that it was a stark naked woman in the deepest of sleep. She had the thickest and heaviest of chains wrapped around her torso, wrists, ankles and neck and wore a muzzle. She also had a tight collar with about four vials attached to it filled with a yellow fluid. Smoker figured that it was tranquillizing fluid. The machine lowered her all the way it could with an abrupt stop and the scientists all gasped and held their breaths.
There was a slight pause and then the women's eyes shot open. Her glowing gold eyes scanned the room before her eyelids fluttered to a close. "Quick! Bring her down before she fully awakens!" The head-scientist ordered and all his colleagues began frantically bringing her down from the crane's chains and placed her into a large sea prism stone cage. She was still asleep when the scientist whispered from above her, "We still have a minute or two before she wakes up. Pass me the cuffs,"
Another scientist ran over with chains attached to five cuffs and by the way his hands shook, he was either terrified or the cuffs were really heavy but it was definitely both. He handed over the cuffs and the head scientist panickily cuffed her up and with the chains, he attached it to the lid of the cage. The scientist jumped out and locked the lid of the cage as quietly as he could. A guard, which Smoker hadn't noticed, walked up to the cage and banged loudly on the bars.
"Wake up you beast!" And before the guard could bang on the bars again, her eyes shot open and she glared at the soldier through her tousled locks of yellow-blond with the scariest and most angry glare. The guard's breath hitched and he froze as stiff as a statue. Her head slowly panned away from the guard and her gaze now landed on Akainu. She became enraged and began growling through the muzzle and yanking on the chains violently, trying to free herself and attack whoever was in sight. She tried to grasp the bars with her fists, but it was always just beyond her fingertips no matter how much she tried. With trying to move further within the cage, she would pull hard on the neck cuff and it began to strangle her but she was too blinded by rage to stop. The cage rocked and inched forward in sync with her powerful movements.
Akainu watched in amusement before turning to a confused Smoker. "She is my gift to you," Her movements stopped for a second and then began all over again but this time, it was much more aggressive. She continued to growl and saliva began dripping off of the sides of her mouth and muzzle. "Ara ara. What made you so angry huh? You're normally calmer when I visit you or is the effects of remaining dormant for two weeks?" Aokiji stepped forward close to the cage. "The subject hates being awoken from her sleep but I think her aggressiveness right now is directed mostly at the presence of Akainu," The scientist read from the clipboard in his arms. Aokiji craned his neck forward, staring into her eyes and she stared right back, her movements calming down.
Aokiji kept eye contact with her and he slowly reached his hand into the cage. The head-scientist held his breath and everyone watched in anticipation. Maybe the deadly, aggressive and feral beast could actually show signs of calmness. Aokiji's placed his hand behind her head and gently grasped the leather strap of the muzzle. "Do just as we had practised alright?" Aokiji said in a calm tone. When he received no retaliation he carefully and steadily slipped the muzzle off her head.
Aokiji pulled his hand out of the cage with the muzzle in his hand. He turned around and held the muzzle up and away from his body, saliva dripping off of the muzzle before everyone to see. "See. She's not as aggressive as you think," Aokiji said with pride. The scientists' jaws dropped, "S-sir! H-how did you do that? She never allows anything to touch her skin. Not even clothes!" That would explain why she was butt naked. "Tch. I don't understand why you decided to get close to her. What a waste of your time," Akainu huffed and Aokiji became slightly offended.
"I didn't touch her," Aokiji chuckled. "I was extra careful to not touch even her hair. I touched the strap and only the strap," Akainu only huffed. Smoker, still very much confused, stepped beside Aokiji, "Late to ask but, who is she?" There was a short pause and then the shuffling of the head-scientist flipping through the pages of his clipboard.
"Her name is Genra. She is our most successful test subject to date. She is the work of several years and has passed every test and experiment with flying colours! She is the perfect thing we need to end the pirate era but unfortunately, she lost all signs of humanity and became an animal. It's a tragedy that we can't use her. She's too aggressive and stressful to take care of so we're giving her to you as a gift. We might not be able to use her but maybe she will benefit you," The scientist looked at Smoker with a grin.
Smoker ignored him but something the scientist said kept playing in his mind. "You said her name was Genra? You mean-" Smoker looked back at the scientist. "Yes. The Genra who killed-" The scientist's smile turned into a pitiful scowl. "I know," Smoker cut off the scientist and turned to Genra staring at him. The calm features on her face quickly disappeared and she bared her fangs at Smoker. Her saliva coated fangs glistened in the light and it showed just how sharp it was.
Smoker was amused and continued to stare at Genra, "Could you give me a full rundown of her traits. Likes, dislikes and what she's like?" "Of course. We didn't find anything that she likes so that list is empty. The dislikes are a lot though. She hates being touched. Hates clothes. Hates people and never talks. The closest person to her is Aokiji and she's only ever said two words in all the seven years she's been here. It's a wonder if such a beast like her can talk. She also doesn't like to be disturbed in her sleep. She doesn't like to be restrained at all. She doesn't like noise. She doesn't like the muzzle-" The scientist bore Smoker since most of her dislikes were pretty evident since he met her.
Smoker could tell that the scientist could go on for hours and stopped him, "Ok. What is she like? What powers does she possess and what kind of person is she?" The question caught the scientist off guard. "Well, she is very intelligent. She has heightened hearing, amazing sight, the strongest scent of smell, agile and light on her feet, razor-sharp fangs, incredibly high pain tolerance, immunity to most poisons, can survive going without food for weeks, she can use sound to do many things. She actually grew those fangs from the experiments but we don't know how exactly that happened. She's also a..." The scientist could go on listing the countless amount of things so he decided to tell Smoker her best traits. "Devil fruit user," Smoker completed the sentence for the scientist.
"But why are you giving me her? Wouldn't she benefit you more than me?" Smoker turned to Akainu. "She might be the best weapon but we won't be able to do anything with her because she can't follow the simplest of instructions without tearing the room to shreds with the slightest bit of freedom," Akainu glared at Genra in which she glared right back.
Seeing that Genra wouldn't be freed anytime soon, she began emitting a high pitched sound from the depths of her throat and everyone covered their ears as the noise was deafening, to say the least. Everyone shrieked and crouched, holding their heads in an attempt to block out the sound, except for Akainu who slowly walked even closer to the cage. He didn't even flinch and when Genra paused to catch her breath, he spoke with a dead-pan expression, "You can stop your attempts at freeing yourself. There isn't a single bird in the sky for miles. Your attempts are pointless,"
Smoker became riddled with questions. He stood up from the ground and wiped the trickle of blood from his ears, "I thought she did that to distract us," Smoker felt stupid before the Admirals. "Well, it's both," Aokiji did the same as Smoker as he walked to stand beside Akainu. "So she made that sound to call upon birds to free herself?" Smoker could help but ask the questions that were just flooding into his head.
"Yes. She can command any animal with any sound that she can create with her body. We made sure that we didn't keep any animals in the base because of that," Aokiji craned his neck forward once again to come to eye level with Genra. He only stared at her, his second attempt at calming her but it only resulted in the opposite of intended. Genra stepped back to the middle of the cage, bent down, and placed her palms on the cage floor. Smoker looked to Akainu and Aokiji for answers and they too looked at each other in utter confusion and amusement.
Genra began tapping her palms on the floor at an alarming speed as she began emitting the lowest of growls. The growl was loud yet deep and caused the cage to vibrate violently. To say that everyone was surprised was an understatement. The lock of the cage unlocked within a minute due to the rattling of the cage. As soon as the lock fell to the floor, Genra stopped the vibrations and jumped out of the cage, using her head to knock open the lid, snapping her chains connected to the lid in the process. She landed on the rim of the cage and roared at the Marines and scientists below her.
"Get the remote for her collar! Now! Where is it?" Screamed the head-scientist and before his colleagues could reply, Genra lunged at Akainu with her mouth wide open and hands out to grab him, in which Smoker diverted her attack with his weapon. His weapon smacked her square in the jaw and she went flying to the corner of the room. Her back collided with the wall with a joint snapping crack and the force of the attack caused a small crater where she had been thrown. Genra slid to the floor and shook dizzy her head and blinked her eyes into focus. She slowly stood up, using the wall for assistance, and locked her eyes on Smoker, eyes widened in pure rage.
She charged at Smoker with only murder in her steps while the scientists frantically searched for the remote. Genra jumped onto Smoker with fangs ready to taste blood and in Smoker's defence, he lodged whatever was left of his broken weapon into her mouth sideways. He fell onto his back and used all his strength to keep Genra's fangs away from him. Smoker groaned as Genra clasped her hands over his neck and began squeezing, her long nails piercing his skin. She growled at Smoker and then all of a sudden paused. Her hold on his neck loosened and she pulled her hands away from Smoker's neck. Smoker felt droplets of water fall onto his cheeks and when he looked up, he saw Genra crying. The vials in her collar had been injected into her neck and the fluid began flowing into her system.
It took Smoker a second to realise that she no longer pushed her jaws further into his weapon but away. She began tugging on his weapon using her hands to dislodge her jaws. And just then, she had been violently shocked through her collar. Smoker was lucky to have kept his gloves on so that he wouldn't have been shocked too. Genra violently shook while the electric currents flowed through her body and she let out the loudest and most painful scream. She clenched down hard on her jaws so much so that she had slightly indented Smoker's weapon.
After a minute of being shocked, the scientist with the remote in his hand let go of the button and the shocks stopped. Genra fell limp onto Smoker and he slid his weapon out of her mouth, finally aiding her stretched jaws. Her head fell onto Smoker's chest as the last thing preventing her from getting closer was removed. Her limp body twitched as she had lost all strength to move. A few guards rushed over to Smoker and lifted Genra off of him, "Restrain her immediately!" Wasting no time, the guards held down Genra before the Admirals and Smoker.
"Sir, what should we do with her?" Asked the guard who kept his steal tip boot on Genra's head. "It would be unnecessary to use force on her now. She's toasted and tranquilised. Just replace her cuffs and put the muzzle back on and connect her to the cage," Aokiji chuckled. "Fiesty isn't she," Kizaru commented. It was the first thing he had said since Smoker had arrived. Genra kept her eyes fixated on Smoker as her heavy eyelids fluttered shut and her body fell dead under the hold of the guards. "Understood sir," The guard saluted and got to work.
Smoker stood up and dusted off his pants, watching the guards do as they were ordered. Aokiji had caught Smoker staring at Genra, watching every move the guards made. "She's a handful isn't she?" Aokiji spoke up from beside Smoker. He had caught him off guard. "Yeah, she is," Smoker would hate to admit but for the first time in a long time, he was actually scared to fight someone. "I'd like to leave with her as soon as possible. Today has been tiring, to say the least," Smoker put his weapon back in its leather holster.
"I have no problem. The sooner she's gone the better. Load her up into Smoker's ship," Akainu ordered as he began walking out of the room in a huff. The guards nodded enthusiastically and began transporting Genra to Smoker's ship. "See you around, Smoker," Aokiji waved and walked out with Kizaru following close behind. "Goodbye," Kizaru smiled before the elevator doors closed.
Smoker sighed and lit himself two cigars, puffing away stressfully. "Let's go," Smoker was led to the construction elevator in which the cage fit in perfectly with just enough room for the escorts and himself. The elevator ascended with ease and the doors opened with a 'ting' and the light from outside shined through once again. Smoker's ship had been docked straight ahead so he didn't feel the need to tell the guards where to go, and there, he saw Tashigi eagerly waiting for his return.
