So, remember how in the other post I wrote I've only been doing a little bit of drawing?
Well, that's because I completely forgot that I've spent MONTHS on this one piece that's become a cornerstone of my worldbuilding. Just...totally slipped my mind.
Regardless, I'm very proud to bid you welcome to Crus Locus! And, specifically for this map, the continent of Cor Notum, where the story I'm currently writing takes place.

I really really love making maps, yet it's been years since I last made one, so for this map I gave it my all. And I'm so happy with how it turned out. I have a version with POI's and civilization names up on my wall, and I hope to some day include that version in a physical book. :)

Apparently just refound, I remember this hex map from earlier OSR days (maybe pre Google+ even?) I always liked it and glad I have stumbled up on it again.
"The Central Imperium has often been the stage for many internal conflicts and battles within both the Old and New Imperium. This was especially true after Andarien's Rebellion succeeded, and the Old Imperium fell apart. The Central provinces were divided up between ambitious warlords and greedy Houses, each with their own ideas for how to unify the Imperium, or with thoughts of taking what they could from the burning ashes.
For roughly 100 years, the conflicts that ravaged across the Central lands continued to destabilize the region, until finally the New Imperium was formed by the Grand Imperator. Today, the Central Imperium's provinces hold storied records of renowned Legions and famed Generals of that time of turmoil, and their efforts ended up shaping the Central provinces into the Imperium's most vital military providers of both arms and citizen conscripts. The Central Imperium is by far the true military strength of the New Imperium, as its standing Legions have long-lived traditions of disciplined military training, based on the very same ideas and strategies that were prominent during the first 100 years.
However, because of this very same past, many of the provinces and their ruling Houses don't necessarily get along with each other, as old enmities still hold strong, even after all these long centuries. There is a lot of political turmoil in the Central Imperium, and minor conflicts still rear up every now and then; sudden and violent, but then gone just as quickly as they had first appeared."

My first attempt at a world map. I use it for my D&D setting. Wherein the players are working as diplomats to raise an army and unite the realm, while the Herald of Death, is trying to reinstate his own reign.
Players are finding out that actually, being a servant to an undead emotionless tyrant may be less stressful than trying to herd a bunch of power hungry and scheming world leaders.
"The Old Gods are long gone, and in their place stand shadow and Darkness.
Tempestuous, towering, unforgiving, self-serving. Only Dark Gods rule here, in a Reborn World where nothing is eternal; where Radiance is unliving.
When the Light lost the Divines War, the Omens tore apart Solitude's Soul, and ripped Her Vessel into nothingness. As She died, all that was left behind was a decaying, dying world, and the Dark Gods who now ruled over it. Ruination had come.
However, the Dark Gods would eventually realize their folly. What purpose was there in reigning over a dead world? And once this world had completely dissipated, would the Dark Gods, too, disappear with it? The Omens had abandoned them, there was no escape from Solitude; the Dark Gods were on their own. Some would revel in this chaos, some didn't care, and some despaired.
It was from alliance of Three, known as the Triumvirate, that a plan to save the world was devised. Using the last Vestiges of Light that remained in this world, the Triumvirate took the body of slain Diona, Goddess of Light, and infused in her their own Wills, Souls, and Power, and brought new life into her at the cost of their own fading energies.
From this was created a new Soul Vessel, which the born-again Goddess carried, until it hatched into Nerasûn, the Dark Sun, and Vessel of the new Worldsoul; pieced together from fractured memories to create a new world from its own.
As it sprang to life, Nerasûn siphoned the energies and power of all the Dark Gods, and has continued to slowly do so to maintain itself indefinitely, and to keep the Ruination at bay. Some of the Dark Gods would consider this a betrayal, and held onto this grudge forever after.
The Reborn World entered the Abyssal Age, and Solitude's Ruination was halted ...for now.
For 500 years, the enduring and returned mortal denizens of these darkened realms would face many tribulations, as they struggle even to this day to survive in a world unfit for life. The Dark Gods themselves, weaker from the existence of Nerasûn, bicker endlessly over how to maintain the fragile balance of this world, or wish to defy the siphoning of their precious energies.
From Dark Kingdoms and Fading Lands, in the secret, whispering voice of Omens, the Dark Gods plot and plan against each other, to ensure that if it came down to it, they would remain as last to survive in whatever new Great Conflict or Tribulation to come."

This is a massive remake of a remake. The full resolution of the map is 20,2000 x 10,200 pixels, and it is 334mb in filesize. Most likely the biggest map I've ever made.
