Yeah Grace and Rocky did all that. But holy shit Stratt did all that too.

my friend helped me bind a book! i painted it and turned it into ex altiora because i love the vast it is my favorite fear :D

phm au idea:

rocky was the one who got forcefully shot into space instead of grace

there were 23 other humans on grace's crew as they caught the issue earlier on, and were able to produce the resources for this big of a mission.

they had this many people to account for possible deaths during the coma period; grace still wakes up alone. the medical area was unable to sustain the others, and by pure chance grace is the sole survivor.

rocky had two other crew members, which died on the way to tau ceti of course. he is alone for a smaller period than in canon, because him and the two other eridians spent a lot of time near the engines. however they slowly got sick, and rocky isolated himself near the back shortly after he died.

grace's ship is malfunctioning, leaving him stuck in the tau ceti system, unable to collect the data he needs. he has no idea how to do the repairs, even with all the media in the world, the hail mary is unique.

rocky's ship comes along when he finally pulls himself out of his depression, focusing on the mission at hand. his planet does not have enough time for him to mourn. that is when he meets grace.

i haven't fully developed this idea but rocky helps grace do repairs and then things proceed similarly to canon. but i think the complications with the characters would be interesting this way
