Wirh my daughter at the finish. Don't believe the smile. I am in so much pain.
I did it... I really really did it
The London Marathon. I ran the London Marathon. Every tiny single sodding mile of it. Just 6 months ago I never dreamed that that sentence could possibly be issued from my lips.
I didn’t win. I didn’t get in the top 10,000. Or even 20,000. Or even 30,000. I didn’t finish even in under 5 hours. But slowly and possibly not very gracefully I got the end.
It’s been five days now. And today I will attempt my first short post-marathon run.
And I also just did something really quite silly. I just signed myself up for another one.
Damn. How did that happen?
If you want to follow here is a page that will tell all the various ways you can do that! There is no app for android yet (bad) but we are all tagged so you can follow on the VLM website (good). I am 55872 (that also just might be my finishing position!)
My hashtag is #legs4sanpa.
Send luck and magic in my direction, please, I will be needing it.
Picking up my runner's bib with my daughter at Excel! Madness. Just doing that was a marathon in itself.
London Stanstead ...a five hour delay ....
My last caffeine kick before leaving Italy ...
Taper blues!
All winter, in the cold and wet and wind I have been looking forward to the taper stage. As the runs gone longer and the pain got more accute, I could wait to curb it all back legitimately. And now I am here. And all I want to is go and run long and hard! How very very weird.
My last long run was now 10 days ago, and I have just 3 days until the marathon itself. I am not in a panic, which in itself could make me panic.
Don’t tell a soul, but I am actually secretly looking forward to it.
Running really builds character. Nothing defines who you are quite as well as how you act and what you do when you’ve been pushed past your limits and stripped of all your energy.

I will probably find out on Sunday if this is true .......
