i love that every pokémon is someone’s favourite pokémon. it doesn’t matter how much you dislike a pokémon or how forgettable you you think a design is, out there is someone who thinks it’s their baby. my coworker who only discovered pokémon through pokémon go absolutely loves tangela and has a small army of fully powered up ones. at an expo once i saw a woman at a booth desperately trying to find an onix plushie because it was her daughter’s absolute favourite. i talked with someone recently who announced sudowoodo as their tippy top favourite. every single one is loved by someone and idk, i think that’s gotdang heartwarming

LAST NIGHT I HAD AN IDEA FOR A STORY WHERE ITS ABOUT A GIRL WHO LIVES IN A WORLD WITH NO MAGIC -OR SO SHE THOUGHT- AND A THING FINDS HER AND IT'S LIKE "YOU'VE BEEN SELECTED TO CREATE A UNIVERSE" AND SHE'S LIKE "WHAT" AND SHE LEARNS THAT WIZARDS ARE REAL AND IF ONE IS POWERFUL ENOUGH THEY ARE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO CREATE ENTIRE UNIVERSES AND THAT'S HOW THE UNIVERSE IS MADE AND STUFF SO SHE JOINS A GROUP OF KIDS WHO HAVE KNOWN ALL OF THIS FOREVER AND THE TEACHER IS LIKE "OH MY GOD I FUCKING HATE CHILDREN (NOT REALLY)" AND IT FOLLOWS HER TRAVELING THROUGH DIFFERENT UNIVERSES WITH THESE OTHER KIDS COLLECTING THINGS TO CREAT HER VERY OWN BUT AT THE SAME TIME THIS EVIL GROUP OF PEOPLE WHOS UNIVERSES WERE DESTROYED ARE JUST MESSING SHIT UP AND ARE LIKE "WE'RE DESTROYING THESE UNIVERSES CAUSE OURS WERE" AND THEIR LIKE "GODDAMNNN THIS CHILD IS POWERFUL WE HAVE TO DESTROY HER SO HER UNIVERSE DOESN'T LIKE IDK" SO THAT SUCKS FOR HER AND IT'S GREAT

Please have a moment of silence for the people who were killed instead of freed when news of emancipation finally reached the furthest corners of the american south.

have another moment for the ledgers, catalogs, and records that were burned and the homes that were destroyed to hide the presence of very much alive and still enslaved people on dozens of plantations and homesteads across the south for decades after emancipation.

and have a third moment for those who were hunted and killed while fleeing the south to find safety across the border, overseas, in the north and to the west.

black people. light a candle, write a note to those who have passed telling them what you have achieved in spite of the racist and intolerant conditions of this world, feel the warmth of the flame under your hand, say a prayer of rememberance if you are religious, place the note under the candle, and then blow it out.

if you have children, sit them down and tell them anything you know about the life of oldest black person you've ever met. it doesn't have to be your own family. tell them what you know about what life was like for us in the days, years, decades after emancipation. if you don't know much, look it up and learn about it together.
