Hi babes, it’s Nikki! I just wanted to let you all know that I have to leave Northpoint. Things have been super crazy and I move to college next week, so I just don’t have the time. If things do slow down though, I would love to come back!! You have all been so amazing. I’m really sorry to everyone I am dropping plots with, but thank you so much for writing with me!! Marc laughed, “Well, of all the places to live it definitely is one of the best.” He nodded, “It definitely is. If you ever do go, I’d be happy to talk to you about the best places to stay and sights to see, and all that. Might even throw in a free lesson of the language.”

“Yeah…” He nodded. “I never really thought of it that way, but it’s a nice ability to have for survival…”

Italian. She’d figured as much. God, Astrid wish she could speak another language. She took a couple years of Spanish, back in high school, but she was far better at reading it than speaking it. “…that is so cool. Are you Italian?” She asked, taking a small step closer.

He smiled as she moved closer, as he was able to tell that she felt more comfortable. “I am, actually. I mostly lived in New York, but I lived in Venice for four years while I was in highschool. Beautiful place, and it’s a beautiful language.”

“Don’t freak out, it’s just me — uh, Jupiter.. and I come in peace if that helps.” Jupiter remarked, both hands raised in the air as she walked towards the male.

Marc chuckled at the girl’s introduction, and was immediately put at ease. “Sorry, I--it’s dark out here. I couldn’t see you. Sorry.”

Khalia shook her head and laughed slightly once he told his story. “Ouch, I’m surprised they didn’t try and cut your tongue out for that mistake. Trust me, I can already tell that those two things are like a religion to them. That’s why I stay out of any and all disputes.”

“Davvero!” Marc answered in Italian with a laugh. “If I wasn’t one of them, I’d have been fed to the wolves, or something worse,” he shook his head. “Well, and religion too. Food, football, and religion. Also, mothers. Never insult someone’s mother... even if she is literally a prostitute, nothing other than loving and kind.”

“What language was that?” Ella asked. She didn’t mean to be rude but she’d heard him talking as she was walking by, and well, she was intrigued.

Marc gave a smile to the girl, “Um, Italian actually.” He sometimes forgot that it was different to speak other languages here, and was always surprised when others were impressed.

She’d heard the all too familiar strains of Italian as she’d drawn nearer to the figure in the distance. What does he need her now? She wondered but held her tongue to feign innocence. She couldn’t have him thinking she’d been eavesdropping. “Oh, hi, hello. I’m terribly lost.”

Marc looked up at the girl who stepped closer and nodded. “Okay, sure. Maybe I can help?” he asked, with a cough as he slid his phone into his back pocket. “What are you trying to find?”

Hearing the familiar language, Artemis paused, her curiosity peaking as she eavesdropped. When her presence was noticed she emerged from the darkness that shrouded her figure. “Quello che una conversazione interessante.” Artemis smirked. "Qual è la tua storia, Scarface? Color me incuriosito. “

“Qualcuno parla italiano nel Maine? Color me sorpreso,” Marc said with a chuckle. He shook his head, “No storia, che era solo affari.” He shrugged.

“Both, actually. It’s like people don’t see me in their way. It’d be a cool superhero ability, if it were ever useful.”

“Well, that’s not surprising to me. It’s sad how rude people have gotten,” Marc shrugged. “Though sometimes I suppose you have to be to survive.”

Astrid hadn’t meant to scare him, if she had. She could hear the worry in the boy’s tone that she felt the need to ease immediately. “Oh, ha, I’m sorry. I was just w-wondering w-what language that was?” Not to find out what he was saying, but just out of curiosity. “You speak it beautifully.”

“Oh, no, it’s okay,” Marc said with a smile. He relaxed immediately knowing that she couldn’t understand what he’d said. Even if she could, it wasn’t as if he’d said anything bad. He just didn’t want to get anyone involved in his business, as it proved to be dangerous. “It’s Italian. Thank you,” Marc smiled again.

“I was thinking about making Fettuccine Alfredo for you. Unless you wanted something else.”

Marc bit back a smile at her suggestion and nodded, “Sounds good to me. What time do you want me to come over?”

“How about tonight? If not then there’s always tomorrow night.”

“I’m free tonight. So what are you going to make me?” he asked with a smile.

“Senti, ho capito, lo faccio. Ma non lo farà. È necessario per ottenere le cose qui il più presto possibile ... credetemi, non si vuole farlo aspettare,” Marc rattled off a few instructions in Italian before he hung up his phone. A tired sigh escaped his lips as he leaned against the building. His brown eyes went from the starry sky to a person who’d appeared in the darkness. “Hello?” he asked, worried that they’d overheard some of his conversation.

Darby shrugged, smiling bashfully. Then she thought about his question before responding. “Yeah, that would affect the kinds of flora but it wouldn’t be a problem. We can make it happen. Just, um… I should probably get the owner’s info.”

“That sounds good,” Marc nodded. When she asked for the owner’s information he gave a small smile. “It’s, uh.. I own it. Here’s my card,” he said as he pulled out his wallet and his card. “It has my cell number and my email on it. Just whenever you have time, you could come see the place and let me know what you think.”
