Maresi from Breven från Maresi/Maresin Voima because I really wanted to paint fire
oops so maria turtschaninoff is a local writer and i just met her at the grocery store???
IVE READ ALL HER BOOKS HOW DO I INTERACT WITH HER AND HER SON I LOVE HER BOOKS
I have returned! And I have a book rec!
I have returned from Toulouse, which was really lovely! I will have to go back sometime to see more of the actual city, but what I’ve seen I liked a lot. I was in the plane with a couple of colleagues but we didn’t sit together. I actually had a window seat and let me tell you that landing in Frankfurt at night is awesome! The lights were amazing, I couldn’t stop looking.
I also finished the book @venitinmentem gave me for my birthday, Maresi, a YA novel by Maria Turtschaninoff. It’s a feminist fantasy, not an easy read as it deals with violence against women from women’s perspective, but it also celebrates the power of femininity and female relationships. A very good book, I’m glad I read it.
Now I should try to sleep, I’ll meet my oldest friend for breakfast :) Not that I didn’t eat more than enough during this past week, I feel like I’ve gained ten kilos (I haven’t, but still ;) ). Maybe I should take my colleague up on his challenge to do the same triathlon he will in June… or maybe not :P
I have managed (with the help from @peilinsirpale) to sneak a fanart to one of my favourite authors, Maria Turtschaninoff, today! Maresi from her books Maresi & Breven från Maresi

- I don’t really read often and I can’t remember all the books I’ve read but Maresi: Red Abbey Chronicles is a really good book
Guys guys guys guys guys guys!!!!
Yeees! I just finished reading and it was wonderful!
I like choosing cards from my deck that evoke imagery from the book. Maresi to me is sea, stones, and plant. I started “Maresi” a few days ago and I’m in love. It reminds me so much of “The Wizard of Earthsea” by Ursula K Leguin. So familiar and yet so refreshingly new.
two of the samplers which have been provided in recent @fairyloot boxes. I’ll be reading these tomorrow along with some other books to try and make a dent in my TBR pile #naondel #thewakinglands
This thrilling prequel to the award-winning Maresi explores the founding of the Red Abbey Booklist called Maresi “utterly satisfying and completely different from standard YA fantasy.” Now, Naondel goes back to establish the world of the trilogy and tells the story of the First Sisters—the founders of the female utopia the Red Abbey. Imprisoned in a harem by a dangerous man with a dark magic that grants him power over life and death, the First Sisters must overcome their mistrust of one another in order to escape. But they can only do so at a great cost, both for those who leave and for those left behind. Told in alternating points of view, this novel is a vivid, riveting look at a world of oppression and exploitation, the mirror opposite of the idyllic Red Abbey.
Book Rec: Maresi, by Maria Turtschaninoff
i loved this! the plot is fairly simplistic, but the characters and atmosphere really shine. it’s set in the Red Abbey on an island that only allows the presence of women. it’s about female friendship, and complicated relationships between women: women as mentors, women as mothers, women as friends. it’s also about the mother goddess and all her aspects. it depicts religion, the life of women, the lack of male society, as very complex, and it’s never polemical. it’s very easy to read and very rewarding.
"Why can men not come to the island?" Bound for international success, MARESI will be published in 15 territories around the world!
