Underwater noise comes from a number of sources - including ships. This infographic, produced for the Clean Arctic Alliance, illustrates how it badly impacts a wide range of marine wildlife.
Shipping emissions significantly impact the climate, human health and ocean biodiversity. Governments must apply more stringent controls on fuels and engines, in order to drastically reduce atmospheric pollutants from ships. Infographic produced for the Clean Arctic Alliance.
This infographic looks at how to accelerate investment for the UK freight transport decarbonisation. It summaries the findings of academic research led by University College London.
Scrubbers are devices used in ships to remove sulphur from exhaust gases. However, as shown in this infographic, they only turn an air pollution problem into a water pollution one. They generate wastewater which is creating serious environmental problems for our oceans. Infographic produced for the Clean Arctic Alliance.
We are on a fast track to climate disaster. So many different regions in the world, including the Arctic, are approaching tipping points that are leading to cascading and irreversible effects. International shipping is part of the problems and actions are needed urgently to curb its emissions! Infographic produced for the Clean Arctic Alliance.
This infographic, produced for the Climate Markets and Investment Association (CMIA), unpacks the key systemic barriers and incentives to private finance access that can unleash the needed investment in climate adaptation.
The climate crisis, coupled with oil and gas activities and shipping, is putting many animal species under serious threat in the Arctic. Here's a series of infographic cards with the key impacts and risks for the main ones. Produced for the Clean Arctic Alliance.
How Black Carbon Emissions from Shipping Impact The Arctic
A series of six infographics highlighting the problem and threats posed by black carbon from emissions from shipping, with emphasis on the Arctic.
Find out why the effects of black carbon (BC) have more in the Arctic, the health implications for communities, why black carbon is increasing, and what actions are available to reduce BC emissions from shipping.
Realised for the Clean Arctic Alliance.Ā
Heavy fuel oil (HFO) is shippingās dirtiest fuel ā almost impossible to clean up following a spill, and produces high levels of pollution when used by ships. The Arctic is warming at twice the global average. Between 2015 and 2019, HFO use in the Arctic increased 75%. This infographic demonstrates how HFO has no place in the Arctic.Ā This infographic was realised for the Clean Arctic Alliance.
Series of infographics realised for the Energy Transition Commission, to accompany their reportĀ āMaking Mission Possibleā. The graphics visualiseĀ why a net-zero global economy is technically and economically possible by 2050 and the profound transformation of the global energy system it will require.
The Polar Code regulates shipping in the polar regions to keep people and the environment safe. This #infographic highlights the achievement of the Code, as well as its limitations. It was realised for the Antarctic and Southern Ocean Coalition (ASOC) is part of a campaign that calls on the International Maritime Organisation to fill gaps in the Code.
Happy World Penguin Day! Before collaborating with ASOC, the Antarctic and Southern Ocean Coalition I didnāt actually know it, but 25th April is the World Penguin Day. The aim of this campaign was to show that marine protected areas are a way to help protect penguins. This infographic explains why penguins and MPAs are a perfect match.Ā
These infographics detail the increasing environmental threats to both Arctic indigenous communities and wild life caused by the use of heavy fuel oil in shipping. The risk of oil spills and the carbon emissions produced represent huge and unjust threats to the sustainability of this ecosystem. But these threats can be removed, for example, by switching to distillate fuels for ships.Ā
This was part of a series of infographics realised for the Clean Arctic Alliance.
These infographics were realised for the Clean Arctic Coalition in occasion of the International Maritime Organization Maritime Summit in Feb 2020. The coalition wanted to provide evidence of the potential impact of the use of blended fuels in shipping on Black Carbon emissions. Black Carbon is one of the most polluting particular matter deriving for fossil fuel combustion and a critical contributor to climate change.
In collaboration with the World Economic Forum, H.R.H. The Prince of Wales launched in Davos 2020 the Sustainable Markets Initiative which is meant to steer up the transition in various sectors of the economy, such as aviation, food, shipping, energy and finance. I have realised for them this infographic which summarises the project mission and their work plan for 2020.
London Car-Free Day is an initiative dedicated to promoting regular car-free days and celebrating the opportunity to convert redundant road and parking space across the city to more socially and economically productive uses as public parks, affordable housing and commercial space.Ā
I have had the privilege to collaborate with them and produce a set of postcardsĀ that celebrate the transition to traffic-free streets and pedestrian-priority town centres across London. They can be ordered online to support the campaign.
