Then that’s what you need to tell yourself. Every time you feel that panic. That anxiety. You need to soothe yourself like you would soothe the little girl... You need to tell yourself that everything’s going to be OK. If you commit to that, then I promise you you’ll be able to face anything. And it starts right now.

Hello! Are there any literary journals you recommend? :0
hi! here are some places i have enjoyed reading poetry & fiction from, in no particular order:
Rattle - poetry only. one of the first online lit journals i've been conscious of. top tier stuff!
Augur - more focused on SFF fiction, some poetry. great reads for those who like stories under the speculative umbrella.
Split Lip Magazine - poetry, fiction, flash, art, etc. wide variety of modern & fun stuff.
Josephine Quarterly - poetry, art. there's a quiet & balmy quality to the stuff they publish, imo. i can't stop thinking about this piece.
BRAWL Lit - poetry, art. cool, modern stuff! the editors are also generous enough to include reasons why they accepted the piece, along with a mini interview. they also published one of my poems :)
Okay Donkey - poetry, flash fiction. personally a hit & miss, but there are interesting works in there if you care to forage.
HAD - poetry, flash, etc. though i would say their brand has a very modern lean & not for those looking for Highbrow Literature, i do think they're doing something interesting for writers through their random, specifically themed, timed, or limited submission scheme.
Radon Journal - anarchist science fiction & poetry. i like reading poems here, because i think the genre focus of the magazine opens short form storytelling wide open.
Chestnut Review - poetry, prose, art, interview, etc. includes audio & some introduction about the piece, by the author.
Gone Lawn - prose poetry, flash, fiction, etc. weird-leaning works. like you discovered another realm in your backyard type of stuff.
honorable mentions (no poetry):
Seize The Press - dark speculative fiction, reviews, etc.
Propagule - surrealist & weird fiction, flash, some nonfiction.
Astrolabe - literary fiction, creative nonfiction, art, etc.
there are sooo many great literary journals & magazines out there! my secret to discovering them is chillsubs, which is a valuable resource, not only for writers looking for places to submit their work to, but also for readers. thanks for stopping by!! :)
