during the scene where they're agreeing to terms, aku outlines their weekly clashes in a way that makes himself look. well. dare i say submissive. it's not 'every week i try to slaughter you & fortune is all that's keeping you from a gruesome demise' it's 'every week we ❤️‍🔥fight❤️‍🔥 but you are simply Too Clever & Strong and i am Overpowered & forced to 🫦flee into the night 🫦 but i always promise a next time ~ ' like. aku, babe, ur telling on urself so plainly

YES okay this scene is FASCINATING to me, but—sorry, I've gotta take off the shipping goggles for a second, sorry, this is just one of the things that really interests me about Aku's personality—

Typically society at large acts like anything other than claiming to be the winner is automatically framing yourself as a loser → weak → inferior → inherently submissive to the Strong Superior Winner.

But like. the thing is, Aku is just. factually acknowledging how their battles go. Yes, Jack DOES swing his sword and Aku flies away and says he'll be back as he flutters off over the horizon. To say anything otherwise would be to twist the narrative to make it sound like Aku habitually has the upper hand in their fights, when they both know he doesn't.

By being honest/factual about how he fares against Jack instead of dishonestly pretending he's superior in their fights, it makes it seem like he's portraying himself as inferior. Because WHO would ADMIT to being a LOSER? If Aku has the kind of ego we'd assume/expect a villain like him to have, he certainly wouldn't admit it.

But to me, Aku comes across as so confident in his inherent superiority that the truth—that he always loses—just doesn't make him defensive or threaten his ego. He admits it directly because it doesn't matter to him, and it doesn't matter to him that it might matter to other people.

okay i'm done, pardon my character analysis break, shipping goggles can go back on. even with the above analysis in mind, we must also acknowledge that the first step to being submissive & breedable is not being mortified that admitting your nemesis kicks your ass could make him assume you're submissive & breedable.

SERVICE DOG PSA

So today I tripped. Fell flat on my face, it was awful but ultimately harmless. My service dog, however, is trained to go get an adult if I have a seizure, and he assumed this was a seizure (were training him to do more to care for me, but we didn’t learn I had epilepsy until a year after we got him)

I went after him after I had dusten off my jeans and my ego, and I found him trying to get the attention of a very annoyed woman. She was swatting him away and telling him to go away. So I feel like I need to make this heads up

If a service dog without a person approaches you, it means the person is down and in need of help

Don’t get scared, don’t get annoyed, follow the dog! If it had been an emergency situation, I could have vomited and choked, I could have hit my head, I could have had so many things happen to me. We’re going to update his training so if the first person doesn’t cooperate, he moves on, but seriously guys. If what’s-his-face could understand that lassie wanted him to go to the well, you can figure out that a dog in a vest proclaiming it a service dog wants you to follow him
