My updated modeling and texturing demo reel for Spring 2014. All models were designed by me (except Les Paul guitar), modeled and UV-mapped in Maya, then textured in Photoshop (the turtle's bump maps were also created in Mudbox).
A drunk driving awareness public service announcement collaboration I did with Amber Mills (ambermillsdigitalanimation.blogspot.ca/).

Some drawings I did from a recent costumed cabaret-themed life drawing session I went to by Toons On Tap. The wonderfully curvaceous models are Charlie Quinn and Bianca Boom Boom.

Progress. Nearly done.
("nearly" because you're never truly finished)
To subsurface or not to subsurface? That is the question, and I think I have a pretty clear answer now. I've always been slightly intimidated when it comes to 'sub surface scattering' because of its zillions of options and all the seemingly endless fiddling involved with the whole process. But I think I'm finally seeing the light (no pun intended :P). On the left is just a plain ol' lambert, on the right is with SSS fast skin. It's probably still far from perfect, but it's already looking LOADS better, especially her lips and nose. This tutorial was INCREDIBLY helpful: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIYopSeGnoI
BAM! Almost time to move onto posing :D
Yeehaw! It's been a while since I updated, but I AM making progress on my cowgirl model. I spent the day concentrating on her face and hair. I'm actually pleasantly surprised her hair looks fairly decent for extremely simple geo-hair. Still LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of detail work to do on everything else.
Work in progress on my cowgirl model. Everything is blocked in, now time to add more detail and all her accessories. In case you forgot what she looks like, here's the character design/orthographic views I made: http://tmblr.co/ZLZ48uu9jLtQ Update: got her belt loops, belt, and gun holster started :)
Aww, thank you for the cupcake, Tumblr! :) It's been a little over a year since I embarked on this magical educational journey into Digital Animation! I have really enjoyed it so far and in such a short time I've already learned SO much and acquired so many new skills! I've also really enjoyed being a part of the industry at my internship for the past couple months as well. it's wonderful to work in such a creative industry putting my artistic background and skills to good use. I will be finished school in just over a month and I'm very much looking forward to my future endeavors in this field :D
A character design I created to model for my reel :) Also included the initial sketch and some detailed references for texturing. She's a proud, passionate and feisty horse rancher who doesn't take no guff from nobody. I'm thinking of naming her 'Buckle-up' Betty.
Lipsync assignment. Audio is from “The Hangover” movie.
From second semester, but I don't think I ever got around to posting the final version of this on my blog.. so here it is.
A simple Rube Goldberg contraption I made in Maya with nDynamics and nCloth
Finished my VFX piece.
Roughed in a quick minimalist logo for my pretend Orange Mist company for my vfx project. Also made a super quick product mockup for fun.
Yipee! Finally got that juicy orange look I was going for. Still a little fine tuning to do.
