May do a Sapphic series :D
In my view, it would be interesting to explore the hijabi girl’s feelings. As with religious Christian and Jewish communities/populations, Muslim communities/populations see homosexuality as a great sin. It would make this lovely picture even more poignant.
The belief that you can’t be Muslim and gay/lesbian/bi/trans is taught even today, and it leads to people having to either deny their own feelings and hate other lgbt people or stay in the closet to protect themselves from harm.
Dang
Much as I’m soured towards (and despise) Tumblr’s SJW culture, I should post here again solely to keep it updated with art from time to time.
Shouldn’t hurt, though I don’t want to use this place as a main art gallery anymore. Considering elsewhere for that.
2013 v 2016.
Argai La Prophetie <3
I originally thought his fiancee Angel was a human... but she’s a stylised cat. I have also attempted drawing her as another anthropomorphic animal, but a stylised caracal (due to her ears in the show).
I still like the idea of her as a human.
Don’t let Donald Trump’s antics distract you from what’s really important (Vox):
Here are a few news stories that broke between the time I left work a little early on Friday afternoon and the time my toddler went down for his midday nap on Saturday:
Foreign diplomats are booking rooms at Donald Trump’s hotel in Washington, DC because they believe that directly putting money in the pocket of the President-elect of the United States will serve as a bribe that helps them curry favor with him and influence foreign policy.
Congress’s phones got jammed by citizens calling in and asking members to do something about Donald Trump’s financial conflicts of interest.
Donald Trump paid $21 million to former students of his fake university who he allegedly defrauded.
Donald Trump got into a Twitter war with the cast of Hamilton.
The Hamilton blow-up — because it’s easy to understand, bizarre, and connects with a pop culture phenomenon — has naturally ended up getting the bulk of the news pickup. One potential reason is that Trump’s tweets are public, whereas it took diligent reporting by the Washington Post to get the hotel story. The idea is that other prestigious outlets may be disinclined to pay attention to a story the Post “owns” and to give due credit to its significance.
Meanwhile, a second-order controversy even broke out among the people I follow on Twitter as to whether the Hamilton audience booing Mike Pence in some sense played into Trump’s hands.
A much needed re-draw of this older fan art from 2013:

I wish they would make an Argai movie! But apparently funding was an issue...
By all accounts, the death of shopkeeper Asad Shah on Thursday night in Glasgow was alleged to be related to his background. It shocked the local community and a tribute event on Friday was attended by hundreds of people, including Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon. But, astonishingly, it is now suspected that Shah was killed by another Muslim man because he was an Ahmadi Muslim. It is the first high-profile anti-Ahmadi incident on British soil, and it has already sent ripples of shock throughout the small community. Ahmadis are an Islamic sect, founded in modern day Pakistan in 1889. There’s no definitive number of Ahmadi Muslims: estimates range between two million to “tens of millions”, and though they are spread across the world, they are predominately based in Pakistan. Ahmadis are also considered heretics by many Sunni Muslims, and are viciously persecuted in their homeland. Pakistan treats Ahmadis no better than Apartheid South Africa treated black people; that is, with complete contempt. It’s shocking, but not entirely surprising, that the persecution Ahmadis face in Pakistan has travelled over here. Several British Ahmadis I spoke to say they have known of someone who had been threatened or attacked for being an Ahmadi here in Britain. One anti-Ahmadi group with offices in London organises conferences that spread hate-speech against them; a popular Facebook group sent out a message of “congratulations” on news of Shah’s death. The persecution of British Ahmadis by other Muslims has become worryingly normalised, yet has remained largely unspoken. In recent weeks, several British imams in Glasgow and Bradford openly praised Mumtaz Qadri, who murdered a Pakistani governor for campaigning against the country’s vicious blasphemy laws (used primarily to persecute and even kill religious minorities including Christians, Hindus, Sikhs and Ahmadis in Pakistan). These are not isolated incidents. Last month a group of Muslims in Scunthorpe protested against an Ahmadi mosque being built, and there have been reports of similar incidents elsewhere around the country. In 2010, The Independent reported of hard line Muslims in west London calling for Ahmadis to be killed. In Tooting, mainstream Sunni preachers were found to have urged follower to boycotts Ahmadi businesses.
After Asad Shah’s ‘religiously prejudiced’ death, we know inter-Muslim hatred is a problem in Britain (via fuckyeahsouthasia)
Sunni hatred against Ahmadiyyas (the sect Asad Shah belonged to) is so normalised it’s unreal. The view is that they are deviants and innovators for not following the Arabic culture and traditions of Islam who therefore “deserve” to be looked at with disdain. Nevermind that Ahmadi Islam is generally more peaceful than Sunni Islam.

“I can’t be myself openly without judged!”
That’s globally, dude. (The line for me is whether you get arrested or killed for small things like musical preferences or even expressing liberal ideas.)
I’m watching an older season of Hell’s Kitchen and there’s a bit with a guy who had a shitty abusive childhood getting triggered (and like, nobody uses the word “trigger” but it’s pretty obvious: his eyes glaze over, he becomes spacey and disoriented, he bursts into tears at inopportune moments) by Gordon Ramsey calling him by a nickname he associates with his abusive father, and like, he explains this to Ramsey, and Ramsey is like “I totally understand and I’m sorry, I only wish you had told me about this sooner so we could have avoided this issue compromising your performance in the kitchen” and it’s like… there’s all these ridiculous anti-sj types who are like “TRIGGERS R DUM, NO TRIGGER WARNINGS IN REAL LIFE!!!!!!!!” and meanwhile Gordon fucking Ramsey, the guy whose JOB it is to berate people until they break down on television, understands the validity of trauma-based triggers and is willing to work around them? like come on
I’m one of those who agrees “there are no trigger warnings in real life”, and that’s because SJWs have overused the word “trigger” for the most smallest and sundry things. So obsessed are they with identity policing and “micro-aggressions” that they have taken a word like “trigger” and blown it out of proportion for their selfish interests.
“Trigger” is a word which should be used to help victims of traumatic abuse (as the example above), not obnoxious college kids who want an excuse not to ever interact or engage with someone or something that has different viewpoints to themselves.
Not to mention that it sounds like the guy did what SJWs blatantly refuse to do - he took the courage to talk it out with Ramsey, even though it was painful to him.
Testing out Manga Studio. I couldn’t resist drawing Cowlorado Kid in trouble again with the Buffalo Gal and her protective older brother.
I’m sorry that I have to make this kind of post, but this past month has been an especially poor one for me financially and I need some help. I tend to break even most months, but I find myself now with nothing in my bank account and bills to pay due to a bunch of issues that took priority. So I’m in a bit of tight spot, but if anyone is interested in some character commissions, I would be extremely grateful! Prices are around $45~ for flat coloring, $70 for the way I tend to color/shade my characters (The example picture up top), and $20 for any additional characters. If you want something simpler, or different, I am certain we can figure something out!
Come on guys, help this guy out!

Mmm, Kazuki-san...
It is the “anti-colonialist” perspective which always unsurprisingly coincides with that of the ruling classes in the so-called “Islamic world” or “Muslim communities” – an understanding that is Eurocentric, patronising and racist. This type of politics denies universalism, sees rights as ‘western,’ justifies the suppression of women’s rights, freedoms and equality under the guise of respect for other ‘cultures’ imputing on innumerable people the most reactionary elements of culture and religion, which is that of the religious-Right. In this type of politics, the oppressor is victim, the oppressed are perpetrators of “hatred”, and any criticism is racist.

no matter what kinks you enjoy in fiction, as long as you have a good sense of fiction =/= reality than you’re not a bad person and you don’t have to spill your life story to enjoy something.
you don’t have to be coping to like a scenario or pairing.
it’s a new tumblr mentality and it’s shit. humans are weird and like fucked up stuff and it doesn’t need reason
stop wanting people to spill personal details online so they can like fictional things.
BINGO.
One of the appeals of fiction is the possibility to explore the transgressive, to which your mileage WILL vary.
hello! quick psa because this keeps coming up in my life:
the term “judeo-christian” is a pretty common one. it’s often used to describe western religion, “mainstream” religion, and the religious ideologies that have a lot of power in the united states.
unfortunately it’s almost always erasing and inaccurate! most of the time, what the person means is “abrahamic religions” - this is the group of religions that share the story of abraham. it includes but is not limited to judaism, christianity, and islam.
“judeo-christian” is a term used by the christian right to a) purposefully exclude muslims from the abrahamic tradition, b) align christianity and judaism together as “western” (i.e., white) religions, when these religions are neither practiced primarily or exclusively by white people nor united by any kind of ethnic identity, and c) erase their own ongoing antisemitism. they create a narrative of being allies of jews, when in reality they actively work to promote christian culture, religious beliefs, and moral codes over all non-christian ones, including those of jews.
i also hear “judeo-christian” used very often to describe things that are actually entirely christian– for example, “the judeo-christian concept of hell”, “19th century judeo-christian morals”, etc. it’s important to remember that judaism and christianity have wildly different belief systems, and that we share little to no history.
every time i hear “judeo-christian” used, i wince. if you use it, i’d really recommend taking it out of your vocabulary– or at the very least, considering whether what you’re describing is actually something that is common to and unique to both judaism and christianity.
I’ve heard Muslims use the term ‘Judeo-Christian’ to connect Islam with these two religions, though. For example, “the hijab relates to Judeo-Christian traditions”.
Though to be fair, I’ve preferred the term “Abrahamic” because it does cover all three, and it’s less of a mouthful than ‘Judeo-Christian-Islamic’.

This is Tajamar, México. It used to look like this.
The Mexican government authorized a new apartment complex covering over 140 acres of mangrove. In the morning of Saturday 16th, despite local opposition, machinery and land workers from a group of twenty two building enterprises entered Tajamar and started to tear trees apart and fill the swamp with dirt to prepare the land for such development. The mangrove destruction was authorized by the federal government, both through its FONATUR dependency and their local government. The local community fearlessly opposed to the destruction of their land, so the government sent a police squad and let the machinery in to start. The next morning, the damage was done; once green and full of life, the mangrove now looks like this:
Activists and the local community saw their land gone, they stood there powerless as they saw the bulldozers burry alive animals in their rush to get the job done.
This is specially important since Mexico, and ironically, Cancún (the municipality where Tajamar is located) will be host of the UN’s COP13, the most important conference about biodiversity and environment, which will take place December this year. The people of Mexico demands this conference to be taken away from the current government and to be celebrated somewhere else. We think the UN shouldn’t support this. I really can’t stress enough how unfair this is. They deliberately BURIED ALIVE crocodiles and other local species. This kind of mangrove saved México from hurricane Patricia last year. They recklessly just destroyed an entire ecosystem just to profit themselves. A fellow mexican has started a Change.org petition to bring the UN’s attention and try and do something. We’re desperate.
now i’m thinking of those old treatments when they thought bleeding people out intentionally (aka bloodletting) was a legit medical treatment
it’s up there with the “put a piece of the brain of the dog that bit you on your wound” treatment for rabies as NOPE
