I recently finished rewatching Andor for the, well, tenth time now?, and there's this concept I noticed that it's not much discussed in the fandom but I find incredibly interesting, which is that of the characters "favored" by the Force.
Like, it's general knowledge that the Force as an entity demonstrates preferences toward particular individuals, but I've noticed that the fandom generally recognizes as "favoured" only the characters who are visually represented as such.
To explain better, it's obvious that the characters who tend to fall into this category most often are Jedi, because the whole concept of the Jedi is to be by default individuals connected more deeply to the Force than normal beings in the galaxy. You cannot tell the story of a Jedi without talking about their "relationship" with the Force, because it is an integral part not only of their daily lives and culture, but of their very nature.
So to distinguish those who (generally because of their role as main protagonists) must stand out from the rest of the Jedi as Force favorites, the creators and writers gave characters like Anakin Skywalker and his son Luke (literally direct descendants of the Force itself) flashy powers that place them above others. it's easy to consider them Chosen Ones because the creators made it clear from a narrative and visual point of view that they really are.
Over time, as the Star Wars universe expanded, being favored by the Force began to take different forms, manifesting itself in different, sometimes very subtle ways that are never openly explained but only implied.
Sticking to the more physical manifestation of this favor, we find characters, always Jedi, such as Obi Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka Tano, who are always described as "Strong in the Force" or guided by it. Their power level doesn't reach Anakin or Luke's level, but it's still undeniably above average. They are individuals whose existence is unquestionably closely linked to the Force. Their role in the universe and its destiny is of undeniable importance, to the point where the Force does not allow them to die, as happened to Ahsoka, who was resurrected on Mortis when the Daughter, a being of the light side of the Force, used her life force to resurrect her. They are warriors weightened down by fate, and the Force loves them greatly.
It also keeps tabs on the incredibly powerful loose cannons that are Kanan Jarrus and Ezra Bridger, and it desperately tries to convince Cal Kestis to take a xanax and stop shooting people.
On the other hand, if we consider the more "spiritual" side of the Force, so to speak, we find characters who are almost never recognized as chosen by the Force, precisely because their gifts are less evident, shown more on a narrative level rather than shown visually. There's a lot of discussion about it, but I honestly find ridiculous anyone who thinks Leia Organa doesn't have the same potential regarding the Force as her twin (She is a direct descendant of the Force too, despite how every male in the Fandom like to pretend she isn't).
Leia's abilities, mostly by choice of Leia herself, who wanted to maintain a connection to her childhood and her adoptive parents rather than to her real father, are closely intertwined with her role as a political figure and leader. She demonstrates a much deeper perception of the emotions and intentions of the people around her than Luke ever did, and we see it in "The Empire Strikes Back", when she sensed Luke's cry for help through the Force. She also displays an incredible ability in protecting her mind from other Force users the caliber of Darth Vader's. I would even go so far as to say that behind her effectiveness as a politician there is not only her intelligence and natural charisma, but also a bit of Jedi mental manipulation, just enough to push an indecisive mind in the right direction.
But the ones I find most interesting are the characters who are not Force sensitive, yet are undeniably loved by the Force.
Characters like Cassian Andor, who was recognized by a Force sensitive person as a "messanger". Cassian, who Luthen himself admitted always arrived when the Rebellion needed it. Cassian, who was guided so clearly by the Force that even Bix, a completely normal person, could sense it.
Cassian, who should have died dozens of times before Rogue One. On Kenari, on Aldhani, on Ferrix, on Narkina 5, on Ghorman, on Coruscant, he was always saved when everyone else didn't. The Force is holding him from the scruff of his neck like a feral kitten to prevent him from dying before his due time, and Cassian does everything he can to make its job difficult.
The same goes for two other similar characters. It is no coincidence, I believe, that the tags "Force Sensitive Poe Dameron" or "Force sensitive Han Solo" have a great number of fanfictions on Ao3.
From this it can be deduced that The Force has a a type, and that is rebel pilots with a tendency to commit intergalactic crimes, engage in suicidal situations and, metaphorically, cause its ever-increasing stress-induced receding hairline.
And then there's Din Djarin. The Force loves him dearly, as one of the few Mandalorians who has sincerely won its favor. It has plans for him.
The fact is that, totally unconsciously, Din stubbornly continues to decline its calls.
He has lived out of any major event that has marked the galaxy over the last twenty years, for him Jedi and Sith are equally space wizards and he has no idea what the Force is nor wants to learn anything about it. It could put a metaphorically neon light sign in front of him to point him the way, and Din would take the opposite one. He is as difficult to scratch as the Beskar who covers him from head to toe, and he refuses to take the damn hints!
In the end, the Force decides as a last resort to dump on his road the only thing that could reluctantly convince him to interact with the very important events that are happening in his surroundings: Grogu.
It works, in the sense that Din, as an individual with zero knowledge about anything Jedi related, ends up with an adopted son of the same race as one of the best-known Jedi in history, co-parenting with Luke Skywalker, savior of the galaxy and legendary Jedi, and getting to know personally Ahsoka Tano.
For Din they are all still Space Wizards, and despite repeated attempts, he obtusely persists in not wanting to know anything about it or about any important piece of galactic lore that might distract him from being a not-so-friendly neighborhood Mandalorian.
Luke can sense a level of exasperation in the Force around him that neither he or Anakin ever achieved, and decides to do absolutely nothing about it.
Just… the Force and its horrible tastes in terms of favorite people.
