New (old) Kirsten stuff!
So I got the Kirsten on the right a month or so ago and ended up buying her some PC shoes because her Pleasant Company feet were too large for the AG shoes I had. I then immediately fell down the rabbit hole of finding PC-era clothing for her to wear. I decided I wanted to get her red boots because I always liked them, and while looking for that, I found a great deal on her immigrant outfit that included her two-tone boots.
I found her baking outfit (one of my grail outfits) that I never thought I would be able to own for a good deal, so I got that too. 🫣
Finally, I was considering buying a new Kirsten from AG because I wanted her to have her whole meet outfit and accessories. I don't like the look of the new-new Kirsten dolls though, so I went back to eBay to see if they had an older version that was intact. To my shock, someone had posted a 1994 PC Kirsten that had only been displayed. Aside from some faded face paint, she is perfect. Her hair is still in the factory braids; her clothes are still stiff and like new. Even her shoes are in perfect condition. On top of all that, all her accessories were still being stored in their original box!
Mini Kirsten with glass eyes was included with Big Kirsten, so now I have 5 Kirsten dolls, 3 big, 2 mini, and I am not entirely sure what I'm going to do with them all. I may have to rename my well-loved girl, since I don't plan to keep her in 19th century clothing all the time.
Licca chan double unboxing, Kuromi and My Melody! They're so stinking cute, I'm gonna die. I want a million more Licca's now, they're so cute! Lookit her little face!
Beautiful Dora :)
Going through old Pleasant Company catalogues>>>>
first photoshoot of my new doll, Eva!
Hey, remember when AG treated girlhood like the multifaceted entity it is? And a girl could theoretically pick out outfits for different occasions, or what reflected their identity. And the options were more than just sparkles and dresses and skirts?
And now your options for everyday pants are sleepwear, sports, and maybe something from a GOTY/Historical
I made Maryellen’s Almond Energy Bites from the AG “Sweet and Savory Treats” cookbook.
I used peanut butter instead of almond butter because I already had it and omitted the coconut because my husband isn’t a fan of coconut. I doubled the recipe and added more toasted almonds this time. I bought already sliced almonds and toasted them myself.
I do have the new cookbook but I haven’t made anything yet. The recipes do have a lot more ingredients since it’s aimed for adults. It also does not have actual pictures of the recipes. The pictures are beautiful of the dolls but they are not helpful in cooking when you want to see what you’re making. I prefer older cookbook personally. Still I am glad AG is still making cookbooks.
Certainly younger me would be happy that adult me was still making AG recipes. (Though she would be rather shocked about a lot of other things! Why don’t we have any ponies? We only have one cat? That was a weird career choice. Wow we live here now?!)
I definitely recommend getting the original cookbook but the recipes are a bit dated since nearly everything has vegetable shortening in it!
I remember my favorite recipe was the ginger cookies.
