Greg nods, settling on the bench beside him and looking out at the dark grass. “No fuckin joke.”
He stuffs his hands in his pockets and smiles as his fingers wrap around the rough and scuffed metal case of his old lighter. Pulling it out, he flicks it open and lights it, his face illuminated by flickering yellow. “The world is a vampire,” he says, shaking his head. “It’ll suck you dry and leave you for dead.”
Flicking his lighter closed again, he looks at the stranger beside him. “You feel like talkin’?”
The stranger’s words are rather on the nose, sending a shiver down the soldier’s spine.
Gerard glances at him, playing with his lighter. What kind of hardships has this man faced?
Shifting so that his elbows rested on his knees, he clasped his hands together, shrugging.
“Ah, monsieur, I’m afraid I don’t have much to say. And yourself? What should I call you?”
//it’s too late at night for me to figure out what the fuck is wrong with the image containers for my theme. but they look like that and it’s horrible. i’ll fix it when i can.
Daydreams were what kept me going, day after day, and I had no right to them.
Kurt Vonnegut, from Mother Night; “A Polygamous Casanova,” (via violentwavesofemotion)
His voice, she heard it a million times in her dreams. She didn’t expect to see him alive.
“G-Gérard… But…”
She dared take one more step closer. Was it one of her imaginations? Was a dream. It felt too real.
Her dreams always ended up sour at this moment. She was scared to look at her hands. Scared of seeing the knife in her hands, the blood pouring from her hands. And yet, none of that happened. Dare she hope?
“I…killed you though…”
“That you did, mon amor,” he said, a sad smile tugging at his lips. “I think it would be best if you and I met somewhere private. Without the gun, if I may add.”
A breath. If this could work. If they could talk and reconcile.
He didn’t think she would be lucid enough to recognize him at all. But there she was. His Amelie.
Or so hoped.
cauchemararaignee:
Ghosts. Sometimes she felt like she saw them time to time. She almost ignored what she almost dismissed as a ghost. She stopped dead in her tracks as she saw the man walk closer, not disappearing as they normally did.
“Gerard…?”
Her voice barely a whisper. She knew he was dead. She had killed him. She knew she did. She was frozen as his steps drew nearer to her position. She almost wanted to run, yet, her body prevented her from escaping. Normal clothing kept her from further standing out.
His lead was right.
It was her.
“Amelie.”
He stood from the bench where he sat, daring not to move any closer to her. But he took her in. All of the planning, and he still was unprepared for this reunion. Biting the inside of his cheek, he focused. He needed to be prepared. For the worst.
There they stood, feet away. The first time seeing each other in years. He patiently waited for her reaction.
give us gerard lore you cowards
Graceless lady you know who I am You know I can’t let you slide through my hands
Wild horses couldn’t drag me away Wild, wild horses couldn’t drag me away
I watched you suffer a dull aching pain Now you’ve decided to show me the same No sweeping exit or offstage lines Could make me feel bitter or treat you unkind
