“Nice to meet you too, officer.” He shook the man’s hand and then pondered Markus’ words until he repeated them. “Run, jump, shoot and such.. That’s almost poetic.” He laughed and then thought some more. “With such logic I should start saying that I’m the one who climbs, saws, cuts, swipes and builds awesome stuff. Tho I don’t really get to build that much anymore, but hey, I could if I’d have the time, you know?”

MArkus just ave him a nod at the word officer in response. “Well that does sound very action packed when you say it like that. Plus it keeps things interesting so you dont get bored of the day to day stuff i suppose.” he said with a light shrug. He looked around at the city with a nod of agreement “Yeah the place is pretty well established. But who knows, they might need an expansion, stuff always being worked on. I’ll be sure to let you know if i hear of anything needing built.”

“It is a nice day, isn’t it?” The reply was only questioning because Kenzi had barely even noticed it until now. She’d been completely lost in her new book. “Oh I’m well. It’s really good actually but I’m thinking that you have already knew that,” Kenzi replied as she realized he might be joking about the reading question and the walking one. “As for the traffic my tea still seems to be in it’s cup so I’ve done well thus far. Mostly it’s people I have to worry about since the cars are usually flying and all that. So where are you stationed today?”

“That it is.” he agreed with a smirk at Kenzie. The girl was always so fascinated with he books that she could miss the day around her. In a way Markus envied that. to be so able to get pulled into something like a good book that you forget about everything else was not something he had been able to do for quite some time. He was always keeping an eye on what was around him. He nodded as he looked up at the bustle of the morning traffic above him. “True, lucky for you i guess right?” he smirked. “Today I’m heading out to one of the barracks to the east. They seem to need some sort of investigation and command have asked me to look in to it personally so that should be interesting i suppose.” he said still not sure of what he was going to be doing once he arrived. “What about you, whats the plan for today?”

“I don’t think you’ve been defenseless a day in your life,” Aella countered with a smirk unable to keep any sort of serious look on her face when Markus turned to her. “Ewww gross,” she teased back before being gladly cut off by the soft kiss. Coming around the bench she took a seat beside him. “How’s the morning brooding session going?”

Markus nodded at her point with a chuckle “Hmm maybe i suppose thats fair.” he agreed. He couldn’t help but laugh at her reaction “I have no idea what you mean, thats just your dirty mind Miss Contos.” he said with another wink and a smirk. As she sat next to him he put and arm around her shoulders and gave her a small squeeze. “Oh you know, pretty good. I was hoping some evil looking bird would come and land on my shoulder to help me look all dark and mysterious but they dont seem to be interested. How about you? Hows the morning treating you so far?”

Seeing the very familiar form up ahead Aella immediately changed course as she made a beeline for Markus. She couldn’t help but be pulled towards one of the few people she felt closest to even though most may think she was sick of him she definitely wasn’t. Seeing his hand resting near his holster she smirked. “Sir. I’m going to need you to surrender your weapon,” Aella commanded as she leaned in from behind him.

A smile crept onto his lips at the familiar voice and he turned his head to her as she leaned in “Oh dear. I don’t know about that. What if some ruffian should try and accost me and i will be all defenseless without my weapon.” he chuckled “Or was it something else you were referring to.” he asked with a wink before leaning in to steal a quick kiss from he.

Considering Kenzi had her nose in the book she carried with one hand while carrying a hot drink in the other she should have been paying attention. Instead she was moving without a care as people seemed to move around her. It was either that or they could choose to walk into her which didn’t seem to be the case. She didn’t notice a single thing out of place until she heard a familiar voice and it managed to bring her attention forwards. Two paths crossed ahead and Markus sat at one of the benches. “Morning,” she answered with a smile as she let the book fall shut and slipped it into her bag. “How have you been?”

“Well hello there kenzi.” he said with a familiar grin to his buddy. “Not bad at all, just grabbing a quick break to appreciate the beauty of the day going past.” he chuckled “How are you? reading anything good today? haven't walked into any traffic i hope?” he teased.

Haven downed almost half of his coffee before he moved it away from his lips with a content sigh. “Considering this is more like late lunch time for me I think it should be called afternoon adrenaline or something smart like that.” Haven laughed a bit at his own stupid thoughts and then offered his free hand to the guy. “I’m Haven. The woodcutter fellow. Woodchuck, woodpecker, etc etc.”

Markus nodded to him “Ah yes of course fair enough. Afternoon then.” he said shaking the guys hand “Nice to meet you, I’m Markus. I do.......security and stuff. Run, jump, shoot and such” he said giving the simplest explanation for his job like the other guy had done. He found it amusing so he continued the style.

“Damn. You should tell someone to add adrenaline sticks or whatever those are called to your things just in case you come across to an extremely unenergized woodcutter”, Haven explained and raised his arm in the air as a mark that he indeed was the unenergized woodcutter. Who also was drinking his coffee in rather quick speed.

“I will send out a memo and see if we can get some added to the kit.” he chuckled in agreement. “I am sure it would be a good way to wake the place up on mornings like these.” Markus couldn't help but find the guys overt display of how tired he was amusing, most people could relate and it was almost refreshing to see it out in the open like that.

“Yeah, I’ve been up since morning four or something and ugggghhh…” He let his posture fall and now he was pretty much laying on the bench next to the other. The coffee IV made him laugh and talk about adrenaline made Haven to look at the things in Markus’ belt. “You wouldn’t happen to have adrenaline anywhere there?”

Markus laughed at the mans posture since he was practically lying down now.” Sorry, afraid not. I think i might have a taser in here somewhere but i don’t know if that will help you much in the way of waking you up. Maybe you should down that coffee and see how you feel.”

Haven surely wasn’t a morning person but he often had to work on the morning hours and today was no difference. He had been up since morning four and he had to take a break now to get some extra energy in his system. He had ordered the biggest coffee from the coffee shop and with the mug in his hand he walked forward towards the closest bench there was – the one where Markus was sitting.

He just flopped down next to him mumbling something that sounded like ‘good afternoon’ and took a sip from his coffee. “I’m not sure will any amount of coffee keep me awake long enough today..”

Markus smirked lightly and nodded “I see, one of those types of days then?” he chuckled. He got it, some days were just had to get moving with some motivation. “Well maybe what you need is some kind of coffee IV line or something. Or just some pure adrenaline to get you off to a running start?”

Markus sighed as he left the coffee shop, a warm tea in his cup as he headed off towards his destination. Checking his phone he saw he still had time so he decided to sit on a bench and watch the world whilst he enjoyed his tea. His outfit and the weapons he carried identified him as military or security of some kind to the average passer by. 

His free hand subconsciously rested near his holstered side arm as he watched the world go by. Footsteps approached him from the path behind from what he could tell and the way they sounded made him think it was someone coming to see him. “Good morning.”

Rae nodded in her head in agreement when he spoke before returning back to her panel. The girl watched Markus’s hand from inside the panel as he grabbed that tool. Oh, she knew that wasn’t hers, but if someone leaves a poor tool lying around, alone, she called it for herself. “Well, tell your pal that the next time they leave a tool by itself, they won’t get it back next time.”

“Will do.” he promised with a salute. “Well its strange new world, maybe we can apply finders keepers as a new law. I mean technically there is nothing up here, no rules, government, laws. And i have the most guns so there’s that.” he chuckled “We are lucky that everyone here is so smart and civilized i guess.” he joked.

The smallest of smiles appeared on her face when he laughed at her. It was nice to have someone who understood her at her side in times when she felt her temper flare. She gave off a harsh demeanor at all times but genuine anger was so uncommon for her comparatively. She easily gave into his touch and guidance to move and sit on his lap. Something which she would have laughed at herself for doing a few months back. “They came up to me and demanded I come help them with the sheep. I told them I was working. Then they tried to pull the victim card like I was the one who said something wrong.You try and command me to do something but I’m the rude one for being busy? Yeah okay. Sometimes I wonder what made me want to protect these people.”

That small smile he could see on her face made his heart light up. Aella was a touch cookie, a hard ass, a soldier and a warrior. But she was his warrior and he loved all the little things about her that only he got to see. He listened to her story as he worked on helping her relax. “Those farmers, they certainly have a passion for their work. Yeah i dunno what makes them thing we can just leave our station to help with jobs. I mean i dont mind helping out when im not on the job but thats through choice. I’m sorr they got you wound up love. But at least you shift is over now. I was thinking maybe we could spend some time together, maybe do some relaxed reconnaissance......which is code for a romantic walk.” he chuckled.

Letting out a sigh her shoulders slumped forward as he spoke again. As much as she wanted to punch away her annoyance she had a feeling that would just send her running after Caleb. Then their face would be smashed and she would be in trouble. “No. I’ll just end up running off to hurt someone if I start with the hitting,” Aella answered gruffly. “Even though they deserve it I need to avoid violence right now.”

Markus gave a light chuckle at her answer. “Fair enough then.” he said as he moved over and put his hands on her shoulders “How about the opposite of violence then. some relaxation.” he offered as he began to massage her tense shoulders. “I don’t know what has you so tense but hopefully i can help. You would think the people on the planet would know better then to wide up the people trained to kill who carry heavy weapons.” he joked. He looked behind himself to the chair there and he moved backwards, pulling her gently with him as he sat down the sit her on his knee as he continued to kneed her muscles.

Storming into the tent Aella was gritting her teeth to keep from screaming about the idiot vet she’d encountered. Thinking he could tell her she was doing nothing so she should do his job instead. Ordering her around like he had any right to tell her what she could and couldn’t do. She was quick to shed her supplies and silently seethed even though Markus had spoken to her as soon as she’d entered. She didn’t want to snap at him so she kept her mouth shut.

Markus was a perceptive man at the best of times and it didn’t take his level of insight to see something had upset her. She was silent and her movements were strong and angry. “Bad day then?” he asked but wasn’t expecting and answer. He thought for a second then made a suggestion. “Hey how about a few rounds on the bag before we relax?” he said referring to the punching bag they trained with. It was good to keep in shape and stay sharp and in this instance it might be a good way to work out whatever had upset her. In this mood she was in Markus would likely be the only person able to hold the bag while she hit it. He really did love aella and he understood her like most wouldnt, she was a soldier too and a tough one. People like them needed an outlet. “or we could do some sparring if you want?” he suggested, sometimes a sparring match with gloves could really let you get into a combat headspace and funnel your energy into something that wasn’t going to do too much lasting damage.

Markus walked into the tent where he kept more of his heavy gear. He sighed heavily and rubbed his shoulders. Another quiet patrol, and that was a good thing. With some people away he was making sure the perimeter was safe and that he had his radio on him incase anyone needed help. His way of constant alertness was draining but he was used to it and happy to do it if it kept other safe. 

He got rid of most of his stuff apart from his combat knife and sidearm that he always kept on him. As he stretchted his arms up and his shoulders gave a satisfying crack he turned as he heard footsteps approaching the tent. Aella came bursting in and he was glad it was her. She was his partner, in more ways that one these days, plus she could understand the strain of their job unlike anyone else in the camp. “Hey you, how was your patrol?”

“I wouldn’t touch that if I was you.” Rae hummed from inside of a technical panel. “Any type of mishandling to this equipment in here can cause a serious unbalance of all sorts of things and ultimately kill everyone in this camp from either radiation or an explosion. So yes, Don’t touch anything.”

Markus’ hand froze as he reached past the panel at her warning. “Oh right, wow. Well we dont want that do we. Best not touch it then.” he agreed. He made sure not to let his hand touch the panel as he reached over it for a tool he had offered to collect for someone. “Can i take this?” he asked showing it to her. “I was headed over this way on patrol anyway and someone mentioned leaving it here. How are things going anyway?”

“Here for a checkup?” Marianne was poised elegantly on the edge of her desk, almost tittering on the edge of slipping on. One long leg thrown over the other, the heel of her shoes occasionally tapping against the floor. “Because I don’t accept walk-ins.” The blonde is teasing, her lips tilted in a slight smile.

Markus chuckled with a slight shake of his head. “Oh darn, i have a splinter and need urgent medical attention as well.” he said holding up his finger. “Nah doc im just in looking for some clean dressings for my wounds. They are nearly gone but i thought i might as well give them a clean dressing one last time before i dont need them anymore. Got anything like that to hand?” he asked
