But honestly, I don’t need details of your friends’ dates, even though that could be an interesting topic for sure. Our Jamesy? Dancing? Good luck for you or those girls          but love potion, why? How are people so desperate for a date? It’s just one dance, bloody hell. Are you the head of my fan club by a chance? Remus is Remus and who knows what is going on in his mind but I’m sure that he will get his date and so will Peter, maybe. So if you’re planning on stealing my dear beloved Prongs from me, I’m going alone. Because I haven’t bothered with a date. I guess—I dunno, it seems impossible to really just think about somethin’ else, but I guess that could be because of Dad? Maybe I decided I didn’t need a date? At least, nobody who’s tried. —And please, with people asking me like Davies with his bloody Quaffle, d’you really expect me to have said yes to anyone yet? Wait, Remus has a secret date? It probably is her—Merlin knows they’d both be all for it—but she hasn’t mentioned it to me yet. To be fair, I haven’t seen her for hours. Or him, actually. James dancing is my favourite thing—remember Christmas, when I came ‘round for dinner? Not that it was far, just next door, but anyway, remember when he had a bit too much festive drink and started dancing by the fireplace? It was beautiful. And hilarious—skittering everywhere like some sort of drunk stag or startled pony or something. And right? Love potion is so ridiculous. I don’t think it’s actually getting a date so much as it is getting one with one of you lot, to be honest—oh, totally. I have a shirt that says ‘SIRIUS BLACK NUMBER ONE FAN’ and everything. Such a fan. ‘Course Remus’ll—if he isn’t already going with Doe—because he’s great, and Peter too, if he works himself up to ask someone—or better yet, someone asks him. It’s a shame that James is apparently such hot property, because we could—Sirius Black, are you insinuating that you’d make a better date than JP? He sets a pretty high standard—reckon you’re up for the challenge?”

Nah, no date; I’d say we’re going together, but Doe will have a date, I’d bet money on it—maybe Remus, or possibly Benj?—and someone’ll probably ask Lily, and she’s much nicer than either Doe or me, so she’ll probably end up saying yes. Mary might go with one of the twins—or even both, if she’s feeling kinky—so it probably won’t be a girls’ night out. Well, I could rope Jamesy in, maybe. He’s been going on about how there’s nobody he fancies that he’d ask to come to the dance with him—which isn’t the same as not fancying someone, cheeky prat—but who knows with him. You might want to be on the look out, by the way—there’s some girls trying to give James some love potion, so I’m sure you’ve got your own horde of crazy girls too—the Sirius Black fanclub exists, I’m convinced. Dunno why Remus reckons nobody’ll go with him; he’s a marvelous catch, and more to the point, there are many crazy people in this school if he’s truly desperate. But hey, what about you? Date, boys’ night, too cool for any of your fans?”
