I really want to try and make an RPG based in the world of Flight Rising, using the RPG Maker MV software that I recently got. However, I’m worried of facing copyright or legal issues if I do so. Not planning on selling it or anything, just wanted to try and make one for fun.
i emailed the staff about this one a while back because i wanted to make a lore game myself, and the reply i got was to not use their IP :( you could always send an email asking them yourself though!!

So a while back, I was browsing shitty Toothless merchandise online and stumbled across the glorious Laemon.
I wound up laughing at it so much that I got it for myself. He now sits atop my computer, victorious.
In one of the Discord servers I’m in, I posted pictures of him, talking about how hilarious I found him. Several other people agreed, and within a couple of weeks, they purchased their own Laemons. We even made a group photo with all of the Laemons.
Soon enough, the Temple of Laemon was born. They made him into the server icon.
They made fanart of him.
They worshiped him.

Well, I’m gonna put my TLDR at the top and the rest of what I want to say under a cut, so folks can read however much they want to/know the results right away:
1) I apologize
2) I didn’t know Victory or Valhalla was a dogwhistle
3) I’m gonna change that page slogan and delete those dragons
4) I’m not taking the link to my FA off my front page, though.

A note: I’m Jewish by blood, I’m also queer and trans. I’m one of those folks who’s right on the top of the list of right wing undesirables. Does this make me free of accountability? No, but it’s important context/worth noting.
Also important context: I’ll admit that these dragons are edgy, like oh my goodness you could cut your hands on that edge -- they’re also 4 years old. Pre-Charlottesville, pre-Unite the Right, pre-nazis invading political office.
So why didn’t I delete them right away? I took a long break from Flight Rising ‘cause I didn’t have time or interest and only in the past couple weeks have I been putting effort into remaking and retaining my lair. I was planning on grinding the treasure to rename those dragons, but since I’ve never been good at the grind despite playing the game for five years, now I’m just going to delete them.

I repeat: I understand the feelings here, and I’m going to make the changes I mentioned at the top TLDR, but can I just say...that I've had enough antisemitism in my life to be a little tired of the attitude that the only appropriate response to history is to ignore it, pretend it didn’t happen, and never risk making any references to historical events.
You could try asking me before taking screenshots of my pixel dragons named after locations that were fundamental in the history of - i repeat - MY people. The history of both sides of my family.
I don’t follow many Flight Rising tags on Tumblr at all. If someone hadn’t been kind enough to approach me with the link to this post, I wouldn’t have even known at all and people would grow to think the worst of me?
I didn’t spend five years becoming conversationally-fluent in German so I could read newly released war records and journals that might otherwise be unavailable in english (or have a translation be off), to get a minor in it as part of my Bachelors, to get called a nazi behind my back.
So uh, thank you random citizen, for letting me know so I could address this properly.
