the United States airdropped 38,000 meals into Gaza

some progress, I guess, but it’s not enough.

the airdrop on March 2, 2024, came two days after 100+ Palestinians were killed after Israeli forces opened fire on desperate, starving civilians in what was dubbed the “flour massacre.”

this is part of an US attempt to aid Palestinians as Gaza faces starvation. three US air force cargo planes dropped 38,000 meals — no water or medical supplies — in southwest Gaza. but cargo planes can’t carry as much as aid convoy trucks. and we’ve seen the tragedy that happened.

aid groups have criticized this plan, and they are absolutely right. they’ve said the focus should be forcing Israel to open up more ports and entryways into Gaza instead of airdropping because trucks can carry way more supplies, like I’ve mentioned.

there are also several drawbacks to airdropping supplies: it’s inefficient, expensive, and doesn’t provide enough aid. there are 1.5+ million refugees in Rafah. 38,000 meals can only provide for ~0.253% of the refugees. it’s not even 1%.

but the Gazans need everything they can get right now. airdrops, however inefficient they are, are essential for Gazans to survive.

I don't typically like to be political online (twitter has shown me how bad of an idea that can be...), but this cannot go unnoticed.

Today is March 2nd. It is also a day of global shutdown in support of Palestine. This is because, in a week, Israel is going to invade the city of Rafah, the day before Ramadan.

This is another example of Israel's ruthless genocide, and it needs to stop.

For today, we must pause our typical media presence, replacing it with support for the people suffering in Palestine.

Maybe if we shout loud enough, we can save the lives of many.

Heads up! I opened a second, new Redbubble shop!

Hi howdy hey, I made a second Redbubble account for silly quirky stuff that doesn’t really fit on my main account where I sell my usual art prints and whatnot, basically a side brand!

I’ll be adding more experimental and fun stuff to my new shop over the coming weeks. More pin designs as well as sticker designs are on the horizon, and I’ll probably branch out to other stuff soon thereafter. I’ll be doing a lot of vintage inspired ones / handmade reproductions of old retro designs in particular!

I was previously manufacturing these designs by hand with a button pin press but the cost of materials got annoying to keep up with and I discontinued making them myself, but I felt it was unfair to keep the Claire’s and Hot Topic Tetanus pins gatekept from the masses and decided to publish them here instead.
