This is set after Sonic forces, Reader being mistaken as infinite and well Shadow confronts Infinite(reader) well notice little too late that reader wasnt really infinite and become a little akward to them.

You were no stranger to undisputable discrimination.
But this was blown way out of proportions, especially even for the ultimate lifeform himself.
“Believe me when I say I am NOT Infinite.” You grimaced, lifting up your hands in surrender as to appease the shadowed hedgehog. His eyes remained furrowed, he was unconvinced. He was unsure. But you had no idea what to do to reassure him that you weren’t that jackal, hell you never even interacted with the guy – you’ve only ever seen him at a distance. You frowned, your tooth poking out in the process.
“Now, just how will you make me believe that?” He says, one eye narrowing – ears folding downward then back up once again as he walks sideways. You groan, Shadow was being impossible to convince. Then an idea shone through your mind, you take another step backward before clearly thinking about it more. You didn’t want to agitate him, lest before you got your chance.
It didn’t help that you were a jackal yourself, you would guess. You pointed to your face, “Well did you see his face? Any scars or anything, I don’t have all that.” You sheepishly smiled, seeing his look of thinking form on his face. Finally he was taking your words into consideration.
Then complete silence followed, Shadow looked up at you, appearing as if he finally realized his mistake. He sighs, palming the temple of his head. “I was mistaken, I… was in the wrong.” He says, words almost drawn out as if he wasn’t used to saying them. You chuckle, the stress of having to defend yourself finally left your body. Your tail swayed side to side, self-soothing your being. You particularly didn’t know what to say now, as the situation had become terse with awkwardness.
“Well.. wanna go get food to eat?” You say, jabbing a thumb right behind you. He looks up at you with careful curiosity. You laugh as you elaborate, “Normally food is the last thing on anyone’s mind after such a situation such as er, Infinite.”
Shadow for once, nodded, feeling glad you weren’t an enemy.

The Sonic Team on Hedgehog Island had its fair share of members, each with their own personalities and quirks. There was Sonic the fast running Leader, Tails the young brainiac, Amy Rose the passionate and strong, Knuckles the loyal muscle, Sticks the crazy but fearsome combatant and finally, Y/N the tactical heartthrob.
You weren’t sure when you became the heartthrob of the team, it’s been a while since the team’s even been a thing, but you weren’t complaining. Everyone either had a crush on you or if not a soft spot. Including some of your own teammates (even Eggman thought you were cool). Sometimes Sonic jokes about if he wasn’t on the team you’d be the mascot.
Despite behind a heartthrob, you wouldn’t give anyone hope of getting in a relationship with you cause first off you liked being a heartthrob not a heartbreaker and second no one really interested you in that sense. However, you weren’t gonna lie it kinda did feed you ego a little having anyone fall at your feet, sometimes literally with the people in this village.
Well… almost everyone had fallen for you. There was one who seem ‘immune’ by your good looks.
Shadow the Hedgehog.
It was a while ago when Eggman came to the village for another one of his tiring battles but he wasn’t alone. The red and black hedgehog had teamed up with the doctor once more for his own gain of getting rid of Sonic and Co. Y/N didn’t know much about Shadow, having know the gang after they fought him years ago but he had a plan that he always tried on new enemies and that was try to woo them into distraction.
The team agreed on it being plan A for this battle since it usually worked. Swinging your double sided axe over your shoulder you ran into battle with everyone, them focusing on Eggman and his badniks while you tried to gain Shadow’s attention.
Shadow was about to rush his way to Sonic, but before he could you swung your axe to stop and caught him off guard. Stopping him in his tracks, causing his to glare daggers at you.
Chuckling as you swung your axe to embed it into the ground, blades piercing the dirt, and leaned on the long handle.
“Hey, there? What’s the rush, sweetheart, you’ll get your turn to fight.” It was cheesy, you know, but it surprisingly got the job done. Shadow looked you up and down before scoffing. This cause you to falter even if it was for a second. You grabbed your axe with both hands and got into a fighting stance the same time he did.
“This no place for chit-chat, either you fight or get out of my way.” He growled, hands bawling into fist.
Huh, that was weird. I mean, someone people can take a little bit before they gain a crush on you no doubt but you were never greeted with a scoff of all things. You didn’t have much time to think on this cause Shadow was already skating toward you with malice in his eyes and fast!
You dodge out of the way in time before pressing a button on the handle of his axe to switch the blades for blunt one (thanks again Tails for that). You swung at him, one hand holding the axe, with all the force you could muster. Shadow blocked it with one of his gauntlets and tried to grab at you with his other hand. You quickly caught it with your other hand, locking your fingers with his to continue with your plan A. You grunted as you pulled his face closer to yours and as you felt him fighting against you.
“Well, that was pretty rude of you, sweetheart. I was talking to and then you had to go and be rude.” This cause Shadow to raise an eyebrow, sadly you could tell he wasn’t falling for what you had to offer. In fact, he was getting a little annoyed, maybe little was an understatement actually because he managed to disarm you with one hand and kicked you in the stomach sending you flying. You landed a few feet away with a hiss leaving your lips.
Plan A wasn’t working and it was leaving you in shock. Why wasn’t he stuttering or blushing or—He was heading towards you though, making you lunge yourself back on your feet swiftly grabbing your weapon, ready to switch plans. But you didn’t get to because Eggman was yelling to retreat after your friends destroyed all his bots.
This cause Shadow to suck his teeth and mutter insults about the doctor under his breath. He looked behind him eyes locking with Sonic before turning to stare into your eyes. He stalked over to you, eye contact not breaking before speaking with his teeth clutching.
“Next time we met, try not to waste my time…” And with that he was off. Leaving you standing there, dropping your axe. He didn’t find you attractive, Plan A failed…
You were knocked out of your state when Amy came rushing over to you. She put a hand on your shoulder asking, “Are you okay? You hurt?”
You slowing blinked as you stared straight ahead as the rest of the team gathered around. Your eyebrows furrowed as you shouted, “He didn’t find me attractive?!”
Causing the rest to be in shock with you except Sonic, who laughed a little bit and exclaimed, “Plan A failed with Shadow? Ha, I figured it wouldn’t work, eh, no offense to, like, your looks or whatever.” The team tried to reassure you, there was a first time for everything, right?
But you weren’t as mad as you looked to be. Well, you were a little mad that the plan failed and you kinda got your ass handed to you but you also felt giddy. You just meant someone who didn’t easily fall head over heels for you and you liked it?
Y/N waved his hands at his friends with a smile on his face, “Don’t worry guys Plan A did NOT fail. It’s just gonna take a little bit more to be in full effect.”
After that, every time you got the chance to fight Shadow, you flirted as much as you could. It range from cheesy to cringy. You never liked pick up lines or anything but they worked in people paired with your looks. But for Shadow, nothing. That just egged you on more, wanted to have the Hedgehog to fall for you. And before you knew it your lines may have started to become genuine. Having someone not interested in you was like a breath of fresh air and seeing Shadow’s reactions, him scoffing, rolling his eyes or heck straight up punching you felt good.
You kept putting up with them because you knew that one day he would fall for you, this one just took time.
Your shoes crunched on the sand as you walked along side the beach. Every once in a you’d kick it up and frustrate, your mind racing about your new foe. You sighed as you stoped to stare at the stars and moon. You stood there as you took in the sight before turning, your eye caught a blob in your side view.
Speak of the devil.
You started making your way over to him. He was sitting on some shore rocks, gaze locked on to the stars. Before you could even open your mouth he spoke, “Go away.”
You huffed, stoping to stand at the side of the rocks, feeling a waves gently crash against your shoes. “Why? Don’t you want company on a night like this?”
This cause Shadow to roll his eyes, making that giddy feeling return plus it wasn’t a no. You hopped on the rock a few inches between the both of you as you joined him to look at the stars. You broke the silence after a few minutes.
“What are you doing all the way out here? Shouldn’t you be at Eggman’s lair and not all by yourself lonesome, sweetheart?” You questioned, turning your head to look at him. He payed you no mind his eyes not leaving the sky.
“I can be wherever I want. Plus, I want you to stop with that ‘sweetheart’ nonsense. If you’re not going to call me by my name then I have no business taking to you. I have no time to fall for your tricks.”
This caused you to freeze, so he was aware of what you were trying to do. Well, you felt the plan changed a bit but you weren’t ready to touch that yet. Before you could respond he continues.
“I know about your type of man. One where everyone falls at your feet just from a look alone. It has an effective way to get people to trust you easily and I see you have that part down,” Ok, he complimented you maybe you were closer than you thought to getting to him.
“But it’s pathetic.” Never mind.
“Anyone that falls for you just because of your pretty face needs to rethink about their choices. I’ve seen the way people treat you, like you’re some celebrity that needs to have the ground you walk on worshiped…” He made a disgusted face after saying that, then his neutral anger look making its way back on his face.
You blinked, replaying what he said over and over in your head. “Did you call my face pretty?”
This caused him to finally look away from the stars and at you. His eyebrows deepen as he was starting to become furious but the normal tone of his voice said other wise. “We may be enemies but I’m not blind,” he then pointed a finger in your face, “don’t push it any further than you already are.”
You nodded, smirking as you took this as a small victory. You felt lightly know that he at least did think you were attractive. You were taking out of your trace as you saw him turning around to leap off the rock, his air shows crunching the sand. You followed suit, figured this was the end of your little ‘hang out’. He turned to look you straight in the eyes.
“The next time we see each other will mostly be on the battlefield, so please,” he found his arms over his chest a bored expression on showing, “bring you A game.”
You chucked, shaking your head. “I always do, kinda have to if you’re on the field.”
This cause him to huff and with that he began to walk away but not before stopping and turning his head to look back at you. “Oh, and maybe cool it with the flirting in battle, your little crush is annoying.”
There is was that word, you didn’t want to bring up with yourself. You didn’t think that having someone who wasn’t smitten with you would get you like this but Shadow managed without doing anything but being him. You stood there mouth agape like a fish.
“H-how… I mean, what?” This felt weird, you were the one stuttering in conversation, it was new but not unwelcome.
“Again,” Shadow began, you could see a smirk before he turned away. “I’m not blind.” And with that he was gone. You stood there, eyes on where he last was, a smile slowing spreading across your face.
95% of the fanfiction on all fanfiction places (Tumblr, Wattpad, AO3 ect.) is either straight ships or stories for female reader's or "gender neutral" readers with she/her pronouns through the entire story. Most of the male reader writers that we had have left or quite and we need more, I'm sick of re-reading the same stories over and over again and I have no talent, believe me I've tried writing on multiple occasions but can't. So please male readers or female readers who want to, please start writing male reader fanfiction.
For some of us this is our only escape from the struggle of Daily life, so please somebody out there start writing male reader content. 🥺

As an avid Male! Reader user, I'm so jealous of the Female! Readers. Yall are treated so softly, so gently, the characters carry you in their arms, hug your from behind, look at you with love and gentleness in their eyes.
Sometimes I just want to be depicted just as delicate in those Imagines and One Shots, but it's *so* hard to find ones were the male reader is beautiful or cute or soft. I crave tenderness so bad and yet I have to dig so deep in those self indulgent fanfiction of x reader, and there is SOOO much female reader and so little male reader. It's even worse when I find an amazing writer but they only depict female or gender neutral reader, am I not allowed to be pretty or ethereal too? To be held in someone's arms, to be adored and found lovely.
And when I want a female reader I can't find a single one where *I'm* the one to call them beautiful and be a gentleman to those characters, it's so unfair (_/T~T)_/
