god help me I'm having thoughts again

no game has ever disappointed me to the extent that veilguard has. like i've been disappointed before, but i've always found something i liked in those disappointing releases and enjoyed them for what they were. some of my favorite games are among the more controversial in their series. but like there's just absolutely nothing that i like about veilguard at all.

i'd go as far as saying world of warcraft's worst expansion has better writing than veilguard. i'd take all that nonsense with sylvanas over any of this. i don't even want to consider it a part of the dragon age series. it's like this terrible force of worthless writing by people who had no clue what they were doing looming over an otherwise compelling trilogy.

i don't even like a single one of the companions. i just don't care about them. even varric, if you want to count varric, because that just wasn't my varric. even the most recent pokemon game had more compelling characters than veilguard. genuinely a pokemon game with more compelling writing than the latest bioware game.

i guess at the end of the day we can blame the power of capital for this. bioware wanted money and didn't care about anything else. and the writers who did care left, were pushed out, or got shoved in a corner by a garbage company, while those who were willing to churn out garbage were handed important positions.

and it hurts even more seeing baldur's gate 3 do everything veilguard should have done, so much better than veilguard ever could. i don't even like the world of faerun at all (one of the blandest, most disjointed fantasy worlds imo) and i still managed to end up being more interested in it than thedas while playing bg3.

none of the answers to questions i had before playing veilguard even feel like real answers. the writing just doesn't hold any value in my mind. to me it's still 9:44 dragon and i'm still wondering about the future of ferelden, orlais, orzammar, kirkwall, the grey wardens, the dalish, how we'll deal with solas, etc. none of my questions feel answered even where answers were provided, because the few answers and resolutions we got were just awful.

i'm honestly just going to go on pretending nothing after 9:44 dragon ever happened.
