Time for Pride art! Happy Pride Month to all!! 🏳️🌈🎉🏳️⚧️
This is featuring a whole bunch of headcanons for Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. Also for those not familar with my BRC art already, this also has OCs that I slotted into place of the crews that didn't get individual names (Eclipse, Devil Theory, etc.). You can check out the alt text for specific names I've given them!
I did the first three here towards the end of April to have them ready to upload in June while I worked on a huge pile o' WIPs I have. At this point, I did manage to get at least the sketches done for all of those WIPs. For me, lineart/coloring/etc. is easier than the base sketching/planning, so hopefully I can finish them all up without any major issues. :D
But then I did the last two drawings here the week before I'm posting this, because I was possessed by the Spirit of Pride to do a bit more art or something. :P
Bonus: the last two I ended up assigning subtitles to in my head. Subtitle of the first one: "Bold of you to assume we're a straight couple." and then subtitle for the second one: "Bold of you to assume we're a cishet couple." lol
So, at one point a few weeks back, I had a dream where I was reading an omnibus comic thing of a bunch of IDW Sonic issues, focused on a particular arc with a new character. Evidently I liked the story and the character so much, I decided to draw her, lol
Not entirely sure when this arc takes place, but I'm assuming it probably fits in fine with where the comic currently is. Or at least, I don't remember anything that was particularly contradictory, y'know? Anyways, the rest of this is notes on the character and story from what I shared with friends on Discord, under the cut:
Okay so! Ribbon! She's an old lady and ends up being a villain in the story arc I read in my dream, lol
But before we get to that part!! The story starts out with Sonic and friends fighting Eggman in some ruins. They manage to chase him off, and discover Ribbon in an ancient sarcophagus. Once they confirm she's still alive (I.e. get freaked out when she first wakes up lol), they assume she must have been there for thousands of years. It also doesn't help that she has no memories besides her own name at first, and even besides that she isn't very talkative.
Over the course of the story arc, Ribbon regains her memories and starts plotting things in the background. Because it turns out, she's actually from the future!!
The sarcophagus is a time machine, and both it and her outfit were intentionally designed to look "ancient" to avoid suspicion. The main reason for doing this is that her mission is to destroy the past (literally): She's from An Incredibly Bad Timeline, and she was sent back in time to hopefully cause a big enough impact to change the timeline and avoid whatever happened that led to the future that she came from. The temporary memory loss was a side-effect of the time travel.
Logically, her appearing in the past could have been more than enough to change the timeline anyways. But Ribbon is taking her mission seriously, and she's not going to take any chances. She's going to destroy the planet as much as possible, thinking it will help prevent the bad future, maybe even killing some of the people whose descendants will be responsible for said bad future. Whatever it takes!
Also, she has natural hydrokinesis and electrokinesis, but she uses the gems on her tiara and gloves to greatly amplify her powers. Also also, those gems are what's left of the Master and Chaos Emeralds from her original timeline. Yep, it's that bad. No wonder she's hellbent on completing her mission!!
As the story arc is building up to the climax, she also takes Surge and Kit under her wing. She promises to help them strengthen their own powers so they can be "better heroes" than Sonic and friends, in exchange for helping her gain more power for her mission. Part of that is obtaining the Emeralds of this timeline (I can't remember if in the dream book it was both Master and Chaos Emeralds or just one or the other).
She of course omits what she's actually up to until the climactic battle, where she's basically Perfect Chaos levels of powerful thanks to the Emeralds amplifying her further. When Surge and Kit try to stop her by themselves, she grabs them using a huge water hand and tries to drown them.
At this point Sonic and friends manage to save Surge and Kit, and then stop Ribbon from destroying anymore of the planet! It's left ambiguous if they just managed to break her gems while taking back the Emeralds, or if she outright died during the final fight.
Either way, afterwards there was like two more chapters/issues of Sonic and friends starting to rebuild things after that battle. As well as a bit with Surge and Kit, with them arguing over how badly things turned out and Surge decides it's Kit's fault and abandons him. Presumably this would have lead into a character development arc for the two of them, if I had anymore Sonic comics to read in the dream.
The dream ended with me looking online for people discussing the story, only to mostly find people hating on Ribbon for causing Surge and Kit to separate/saying she was too OP even though there was a narrative reason for her powers spiking/etc. Which, I mean it wouldn't be surprised if that happened, if a story like this with a character like Ribbon was real. :u
That's it! Not sure if I'll do anything else with Ribbon, but hey, I still think she's cool. :D
This year's MerMay features Canti (the robot) and Takkun (the cat) from FLCL! Plus a bonus doodle featuring those two and other characters from that series. Had to use one of my Canti figures as reference for Canti's pose, and thank goodness for that, he's got a lot of little details I probably wouldn't have gotten right without the reference, lol. Very happy with how both of these turned out! :D

I mentioned yesterday that I would take a break this weekend then work on crossposting to my new art accounts... yeah I ended up working on that for most of today anyways, whoops. :u
I will still be posting on this account for the time being (i.e. until Tumblr staff permanently fuck everything up for good). However, I will be drastically reducing my time wasted on Tumblr otherwise. Meanwhile, here are the other places where I plan to be more active in terms of art moving forward:

I managed to get everything I wanted posted on Itaku and Pillowfort, and I set up a queue for Newgrounds. SheezyArt has a daily post limit, so I'll just work within that limit to get some more old stuff posted. After that, all new stuff will be posted on these sites first, and then my art Tumblr will likely be dead last from now on.
If you're already on one of these sites, I'd definitely appreciate it if you follow me there as well! If you've been considering one of these sites to move to, or other art sites I haven't mentioned, I highly encourage you to do so. Even if you don't end up following me again, still go for it, leave this hellhole, or at least make sure you have backups.
When it comes to art, whether you're a professional making money or a hobbyist just posting for themselves, you should never rely on just one or two sites to share your art with the world. Especially not without any backups, be they web page archives or even just keeping your files and notes safe on an external hard drive. You never know when all your work could be gone in an instant, whether it be from bad coding, or terrible mod decisions, or who knows what else.
So it took me about 10 days, but I was able to successfully upload all of my art to my own website! Almost a full decade of art, even if like 4 of those years had far fewer uploads than the rest. Still a lotta art!!
The individual art pages aren't very pretty, it's really just the art and the original description without any background/CSS styles. But at least it works. What took the longest was mainly just extracting the original descriptions from the web pages I saved (and DeviantArt in particular made it annoyingly difficult for some reason!!), and then organizing the text with the associated art onto each page. And also linking it all together of course.
Anyways, sure, my website could just as well disappear in the future. Or Neocities (the host I'm using for my site) could blow up. Or even the entire Internet could be destroyed! But hell, having some sort of archive like this (instead of relying on sites like Tumblr and DeviantArt to keep their fucking acts together) is a hell of a lot better than nothing!!
Next step, start getting some of my stuff onto my Newgrounds, SheezyArt, Itaku, and Pillowfort accounts. It will not be everything, but I've picked out a few things I want to share that I still really like how they turned out.
Once I'm done with reuploads/crossposts to the sites I mentioned, I will probably stick with posting to Newgrounds as my "main" hub moving forward, and then the rest will be quick crossposts. I've decided on Newgrounds because it checks off most of what I want in an art site (allows for multiple images in one submission, working tagging system, filters that actually work, etc). Also, it has apparently really mellowed out in comparison to its original (rather rancid) reputation?? Honestly a welcome surprise compared to the bullshit I've had to deal with on Tumblr and DeviantArt, ngl
For this weekend though, maybe I'll uh, take a break even from drawing. Maybe play some video games. Been meaning to get to the Klonoa Phatasy Reverie in particular, so maybe this is an opportunity to finally get started on that. :P

Whatever, this gave me the kick in the butt I needed to start backing up all my posts on this blog and my old DeviantArt. Just finished with everything from DA (basically everything I was posting from 2019 to 2022), plus all my old stuff on this blog. Oldest thing are some sketches and character drawings from 2014, damn 😆
Will get at least images and their descriptions hosted on my personal website as a backup. Anything new will also be put on my website from now on. Regular postings will continue here for the foreseeable future (i.e. until Tumblr does something else to cause a mass exodus of users).
But, I am also planning to start doing something I've been meaning to do for a very long time: crosspost to Sheezy.Art and Itaku.ee! Sheezy in particular is probably where I will make the actual descriptions for my art from now on. Then, for example, if I crosspost to here, I'll say to just check Sheezy or my site for the associated full description.
The thing that annoys me about crossposting art is having to deal with descriptions, especially cutting them down for post limits on certain sites. This way I can just focus on posting plus tags :P
Tempted to join some other sites like Newgrounds to cover as much ground as possible, but ehhh, maybe one step at a time for now. I'm in the middle of building up a queue, so now's a good time to take care of backing things up to my site/Sheezy/Itaku on the side. :P

Recently commissioned by @diablo-that-first-spark for another chibi drawing! This time of her version of Zeus for the Kid Icarus universe.
I know I said I would try to simplify details when needed for these commissions, but at the same time I felt bad for simplifying some of the cool details here? Well, at the least I still had fun putting this all together!
Also I did two versions because I couldn't decide if I liked it better with or without the little orbit line, lol
First new art of the new year, and I'm posting at the end of the second month, oh boy :P
But hey, finally getting back into the swing of things! Or at least trying to! Plus trying to do more stuff than just art. Because along with these two cute arts of Dude and Guy, I also did a (relatively?) short oneshot of them getting together!! You can read that on my A03 here!!
Really hoping to write more BRC stuff, it was fun writing this one! Though I also feel nervous about posting it, I hope at least a few people like it. ;u;
Also I still have like 50 BRC related WIPs, so I really need to get through more of that backlog before trying to writing more, at least that's gonna be my plan for a while, lol

The return of Cleaver! I have been rotating him and Faux in my head for the past week or so, coming up with a bunch of ideas and headcanons and maybe some semblance of a plot involving the two of them?!
It's basically coming together as Toxic Yaoi with a not-small dash of "Cannibalism as a metaphor(maybe?) and a theme(definitely!)".
And I'm considering giving this version of Faux a ribbon around his neck a la the story "The Girl with the Green Ribbon", since this is happening after the events of the game and Faux has been ~mysteriously~ revived...
And also Cleaver teasing Faux with food-themed nicknames like "Filet-O-Faux", lol
Okay so!! A while back I made a post trying to sell some small stuff that I didn't want to hang onto anymore. Good news, I did manage to sell most of those!
Bad news, I recently got some very long awaited Kickstarter/Backerkit bonus stuff (in the second photo specifically) that I don't particularly want to keep. They are very lovely, don't get me wrong!! But I'm still at a point where cash is tight after a bunch of unexpected bills, so I figure I can at least try to sell these too. ^^;
For the other stuff I still have: First photo of the two custom keychains I got of my Devil Theory OCs, they were made in batches of 3, so I'm keeping one for myself and trying to sell/give these other two. Then the first photo shows the remainder of the Canti stickers I have.
Each keychain is $20, and you will get a Canti sticker as a bonus while supplies last! If you want just one of the Canti stickers (or all three of the sticker designs while I still have them), let me know and I can send them to you for free via letter/envelope!
