#ThrowbackThursday from the JMM Collections: Samuel and Doris Lever, taken by Udelewitz, 1933. They were married July 2, 1933 in a rented hall, by the rabbi from Shaarei Zion. JMM 1995.85.4.

Marriage license for wedding performed by Rabbi Simon Bayarsky of B'nai Reuben: Samuel Rosenblit & Kaye Snyer, August 30, 1953.  Serves as both license (beforehand) and certificate (signed after the ceremony by officiant). JMM 1998.37.5

I love that this includes the groom’s occupation (sheet metal!).

Ida Rosen (Chaye Bezoomna) left the Ukraine in 1913 at the age of 17 and settled in Baltimore, where an uncle, Louis Rosen, lived.  She worked in Sonneborn Clothing Factory until she met and married Daniel Rehr, an immigrant from Austria.

The Baltimore Sun reported a marriage license obtained by Melvin H. Naiman, 57, and Rose [Gershenson] Kline, 50, on October 23, 1963.

Sylvia Cahn married Stewart Hecht at the Phoenix Club on June 2, 1921.

The booklet contains poetry and songs re-written to suit the occasion; a "Rotton-Gravure Section" with photos of the bride and groom as children, and their parents (pictured here); a page of in-jokes; a page for listing dance partners (empty); and a last "Au Revoir" to the bride and groom. Hortense Greif Whitehill married Leo J. Gutman in 1921.

Here the bride is seated with five bridesmaids standingaround her.  According to the donor, 4th from the left is Helen Miller (later Dalsheimer) and fifth from left is Sylvia Cahn (later Hecht).

Samantha Hall Dorsey married Joseph Donald Mansour at Glen Echo Park, Maryland, on October 16, 2016. Their interfaith marriage ceremony—the bride is a Reform Jew, and the groom is baptized in the Maronite Catholic Church—included many Jewish elements.
