This has probably been done before but-
I love how in the Rishi Outpost arc of The Clone Wars, not only do they send in Marshal Commander Cody for a routine inspection on some ass-end-of-nowhere listening outpost, they also send in Rex who’s just some captain of a different company who then proceeds to take point on the whole ‘everything’s going to shit - there’s clankers in the bachelor pad’ thing.
Like, how did that even get decided?
Imagining Rex and Cody doing flimsy-vibroblade-rock in the ship on the way down to decide who gets to run point.
Rex is like ‘Aight. Guess I’m doing this shit.’
And Cody’s like ‘Cool. I’m not helping with any of it. I’m gonna catch up on Real Spacewives.’
And then they get there and something is Obviously Wrong, and Rex is like ‘Shit. Why did this have to be the one time I’m running the inspection. Any input Kote?’
And Cody’s like ‘Vod’ika, they’re up to deciding what colour they’re painting the nursery walls. I am: Invested. You better hold my hand so I don’t run into any rocks.’
And Rex is just like: “Fucking hell. You are such a liability.’
And Domino squad are just out here panicking and crashing out because 1) everything’s going to shit, and 2) Marshall Commander Cody is just?? Standing silently??? Judging them all?.?. And NOT TALKING!?.? They are so getting sent back to Kamino for re-training modules after this.
Meanwhile Cody is doing a running commentary/live blogging via internal comms on the episode of Real Spacewives for all the cc class while Rex is leading him around like a skittish horse.
“-and Jessyka just decided on the Kashyyyk-green one-piece for the dinner party - doesn’t she know that’s obviously not evening wear?? - and I didn’t know a humanoid could look that ill just by changing outfit colour-‘
He sort of zones back in briefly for the ‘I have a plan’ - ‘It’s never gonna work’ moment and decides that’s well and truly None of His BusinessTM and just goes straight back to his live blogging.
And any ccs who are actually watching Cody’s blog can see something going on behind his HUD and are like:
‘Yoooo Cody, is there…. Something going on?? Where you are?? Is there- is THAT CAPTAIN REX??? Where are you???’
And Cody’s all ‘Nah, it’s fine. None of the other channels are working. I think the clankers are blocking most signals out of here-‘
‘ - but Rex’ika’s got this. Anyway-‘ and just continues on as if nothing is wrong.
