“Wait, that’s how you first met? Did she break in?”
“Yes.” He laughed, trying to fight his laughter long enough to explain. “And no - not technically. I’m not on the ground floor, I didn’t think I’d have to lock my windows at night.”

urielrosier:
“Wait, that’s how you first met? Did she break in?”
“Yes.” He laughed, trying to fight his laughter long enough to explain. “And no - not technically. I’m not on the ground floor, I didn’t think I’d have to lock my windows at night.”
urielrosier:
“You met a girl who isn’t impressed by cursed objects? I had higher hopes for you, Morris,” Uriel laughed, a twinkle in his eye showing he didn’t really mean it. “You know I could try and find you a safety box to keep cursed items in.”
"Don't count her out yet, man. I haven't told you how we met." Marshall grinned, licking his lips as he settled in, knowing his friend would get a kick out of the story. "I woke up and she was on my couch."
lachlandaughtry:
Lachlan couldn’t help the scoff that escaped him as he shook his head at his brother’s words. “Yeah, well, doesn’t last anyway. I had a few years of bliss and then all of a sudden I’m living in a crappy apartment and I’m lucky if I talk to anyone but Adam all week, well, maybe unlucky,” he added with a shrug, pausing as he realised how much he had given away. “But hey, maybe that’s just me. White picket fence just doesn’t want to stick for me I guess.”
Marshall turned, focusing on the books in front of him as Lachlan discounted his words. They had grown up so differently, maybe they really were just too different to be anything more than what they were. "You could always call.... me." He paused before finishing his sentence, not sure how it would go over with his brother. "I mean, I'm close now, we could.... grab a drink or.... something."
southernrcse:
“Oh you should definitely lock your windows.” Georgia smirked, “Weird people crawl in them when you don’t.” As her sleepiness wore off, he started to realize how attractive the man sitting in front of her was. The brown curls, blue eyes, he was attractive to say the least. “As someone who is living and not recently murdered, I appreciate it greatly. In fact, what can I do to repay such chivalrous behavior?” She wasn’t kidding. She really owed him one for letting her sleep on his couch.
"Lesson learned, trust me. Although I'm thinking most people that crawl through windows are not like you." He chuckled, shaking his head lightly before taking another sip of his coffee. "Mmm." He held his cup against his lips as he thought about what to tell her, a glint in his eyes as he surveyed her over the top. "I suppose, maybe - you could let me take you to dinner? Or do I need to plan something more daring in order to impress you?"
lachlandaughtry:
“Right,” Lachlan nodded, annoyed at himself for feeling ever so slightly deflated at the response. “Must be nice, travelling wherever you want.”

"It's, um.... It's not always all its cracked up to be." He admitted, scratching at the back of his neck. "Always been sort of jealous, you know? Of the whole, picket fence, close to your family sort of thing." Shrugging as if he hadn't just given away more than he'd wanted to, he reached out to straighten some of the books out of habit.
urielrosier:
Uriel’s eyes lit up at his friends words, always loving any way of bending the rules. “Why don’t you come over after closing tomorrow? You could have a look at some things, help me decide what needs to go through the MACUSA, maybe something will accidentally fall into your bag.”

Marshall grinned, nodding. "Oh, you know I'll be there." He looked at his shoes, thinking about it for a second longer before continuing. "Okay, but I don't really want anything cursed, yeah? Because I just met this girl, and I don't know if she'd be impressed by that sort of thing. Then again, she might be."
celestemelodybennett:
“We got the new Lumineers album a few weeks ago, that’s been my favorite for a little while, but that always changes, so ask me again in a few days,” she replied, smile on her face.
"I'll make sure to do that." He grinned, fingers trailing over the tops of the albums as he meandered along. "I've actually got the Lumineers already, I want to broaden my classics I think. I was watching this show the other day - their soundtrack was purely from the 80s and it was awesome."
urielrosier:
“You know I can’t sell anything with the curses still in tact, the MACUSA would have me in jail before Christmas and I really don’t want to have to explain to Persephone why I’m missing Christmas dinner.”
“I mean, you can’t sell it, but things get lost sometimes.” Marshall smirked, playing with him. He knew he couldn’t, and he wouldn’t want to get his friend in trouble. “Better yet, I don’t want to have to explain to Persephone why I had to bail you out for Christmas dinner.”
celestemelodybennett:
Melody led him to the genre. She grazed over the albums. “I haven’t listened to these all, but the weirdest one I have listened to in this genre is this vinyl right here,” she pulled it out, handing it to Marshall.
“Hmm.” He hummed, flipping it over in his hands. “The artwork is so weird, I love it.” Marshall laughed, nodding. “Alright, so what’s your favorite in stock right now?”
urielrosier:
“Not unless you’re interested in antique vases or hummel figurines,” Uriel shook his head. “They’ll most likely go to some muggle shop, but we have to do checks first, make sure there really isn’t any charms or curses on them, you know.”
“Probably more than you’d think, but I’ve got enough crap I don’t know what to do with as is.” He laughed, shrugging slightly. He was still a little hesitant to put down too many roots in his new place - not even all his clothes had been unpacked yet. “Ok, wait, I definitely want the ones that have got curses.”
lachlandaughtry:
“So you really are back to stay, huh?” Lachlan attempted to sound as though it wasn’t anything of particular interest to him as he looked at his brother over the back of a book he was putting away.
“For the time being.” Marshall answered somewhat evasively, nodding. What was he supposed to say? I’ll stay if you decide you want to know me? “I’m not really used to staying in one spot for very long.”
urielrosier:
“I thought you’d like it,” Uriel grinned, loving that he was right. “Unfortunately as soon as you say ‘second edition’ most buyers lose any interest, despite how beautifully it’s been kept.”
“Oh, well I don’t care about the monetary value.” Marshall brushed away the concern, although he was certain Uriel already knew that. And Marshall was fairly confident in his thought that Lachlan would agree with him. “Anything else you find?”
southernrcse:
Georgia snorted, “Then I’ve finally perfected my sneaking abilities!” She yelled enthusiastically. “This is going to be great. You’ve got to give me permission to try it again.” She teased. “No I’m totally kidding. I will use the front door.” She sipped on the coffee, loving the way it slipped through veins and woke her up. “So, Marshall, thanks for being so non-creepy. It’s a lot to ask from people these days.” She laughed lightly.
“You can try it anytime you like.” Marshall laughed, nodding as he took another sip of his coffee. “Maybe I’ll even lock my window, give you a challenge.” He raised a brow as he teased her, in slight awe at how easy it was to talk to her even amidst this rather ridiculous situation. “Well, thanks for noticing. You know, I rather pride myself on my non-creepiness, and no one ever appreciates it.”
sm-joublanc:
“So you just thought it was going to magically fix itself?” Seraphina smiled at him. “Marshall, baby, you’ve got to put in some effort. Ask him to the movies or something, or go to dinner. You’ve got to spend time together or else you’ll never get closer again.”
“No.” Marshall replied haughtily, as if offended. He furrowed his brow, frowning more deeply. “I am trying, I just - I don’t know how to talk to him. It’s like talking to a wall sometimes.” He sighed, rubbing at his eyes. “He’s my brother but it’s like we’re complete strangers. Maybe I should just go back home.”
celestemelodybennett:
Melody raised her eyebrows, “Genre?”
Marshall blew a sigh through his cheeks as he scanned the room, quickly reading through the signs for one he wasn’t all too familiar with. “Reggae?”
lachlandaughtry:
“Yeah, I guess. I don’t know, sorry I didn’t ask you over or anything I just… it’s a book shop, it’s not exactly an event or something, you know?” Lachlan spoke somewhat awkwardly. “How, ah, how have you been?”
“No, but I’d have come anyway.” He said softly, shrugging. It was a big deal for Marshall, to finally be able to see his brother’s store - but he wasn’t sure that it was for Lachlan, so he tried to downplay it. “Not bad, just signed a lease on a flat a town or two over.” Marshall shrugged. “Nothing as impressive as this.”
celestemelodybennett:
“Don’t know, weird is relative,” Melody replied with a shrug. “But name it and I’m sure we have it.”
“I dunno what I want.” He admitted, grinning. “Something new - something I’ve never heard of. Everything I know is getting boring.”
