Suad Ahmad @suad-ahmad is an engineer from Gaza. She graduated from university at the top of her class and was rapidly excelling in her career as an instructor, consultant, and team leader. Suad, her husband, and their family were overjoyed to find out she was pregnant. Sadly, this was only a week before occupation began its illegal scorched earth campaign against the people of Gaza. Suad's home and workplace were destroyed, and she and her husband's family were displaced from the north.

On the day she went into labor, Suad had to walk a great distance to the hospital. Upon arrival, she found that the hospital was operating at bare minimal capacity. There was not even a bed for her to use. Suad's baby was born with minimal medical support, and the ordeal was extremely difficult. The occupation then began bombing the vicinity of the hospital. Suad and her baby were in immense danger, with nowhere to turn.

Unfortunately, the situation has only gotten worse. Suad and her infant are now living in a tent in extreme heat. lOF attacks continue, putting their lives in immediate danger. The occupation's blockade on Rafah Crossing and the destruction of roads and infrastructure has led to increased, extreme food scarcity. Suad cannot find enough food to feed herself or her baby. She has not been able to recover from the difficult birth, and her baby is missing out on crucial nutrition needed for neonatal development. Once Rafah crossing reopens, Suad and her baby need to be able to evacuate to Egypt for their health and safety.

Suad just updated me about her situation and it is very dire!

Suad has had a recent and very serious development in her case. Her newborn Khaled suddenly came down with an extremely high fever and has fallen very ill. Here is Khaled receiving care in Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital:

After hours of roaming around wartorn central Gaza in search of diagnostics, under constant threat of IOF attack, Suad learned he has a viral infection in his chest. Her update reads as follows:

Last Friday at 1 AM, my son Khaled's fever spiked to 40 degrees Celsius. We couldn't provide him with any help throughout the night until dawn. When we went to the nearby clinic, they told us they didn't have the necessary care and referred us to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital. Without any means of transportation, we had to walk 10 kilometers, and my son's condition kept worsening.

Upon reaching the hospital, the situation was disastrous. The place was overcrowded with wounded and sick people, and the congestion was severe. I feared my son would catch an infection. We waited an hour and a half to get an admission ticket, while my son's fever continued to rise.

The hospital didn't have the required tests, so we had to go to an external lab, where we waited an additional two hours for the results. We then went for an X-ray, where the place was extremely crowded, forcing us to wait a long time while my son suffered.

In the end, it was revealed that my son had a chest virus

I am still trying to send money to Suad so she and her family can evacuate Al-Bureij to another area of Gaza. But the sooner her campaign goal is met, the sooner she can use the money to begin the process of evacuating to Egypt!!!

I apparently commented this on someone’s fanfiction while almost unconscious and had no memory of this event until today, a week and a half later, when the author responded to that comment and I got the experience of reading my own writing for the first time.
