HOW TO MAKE CHARACTER RENDERS! A Tutorial!
HELLOOO in this post I'm gonna be teaching y'all how to make character renders using the avatar maker in mcskins.top and on top of that how to make them look better using facial expressions and pixel art! FOR FREE, FOR BOTH PC AND MOBILE USERS! I noticed alot of people liked the renders that I did so I'm gonna base it off that and VSmp up for the examples and share templates!
I'm going to be using Vampires SMP, Bannerfall SMP and Fanpires: Veindale characters for the examples since they're from things I've already made. Here's an example of the type of stuff you can make!
This is the Crossfangs Render I did some time ago, the background is actually from a pixel sandbox game called Boku Boku!
Interested? Good, you'll need to give it a bit of effort! When you enter an avatar editor on mcskins, you'll see these scalers that you can use to make the poses.
Red is for rotating parts up and down, Green is for rotating parts to face left and right, Blue is for rotating the parts left and right. Pink is for bending arms/legs. It's easier than I'm making it sound LOL. Here's an example of the rotations in a pose of V!Pearl, The colors correspond to the ones shown in the scalers above.
Got it? Great! I jumped into all of this without a single clue of what to do, I just moved the scales and things worked. I'm pretty sure you can too LOL next is how to add/change expressions!
STEP ONE! you'll need to make the avatar faceless and make a pose with it. Step Two, you get the face you want to put onto the avatar. You can draw it on or make a pixel face and resize it using lospec (a pixel art scaler) and then paste it and change the perspective. You can also just wing it and add it on in a way that looks right. And then step three which is optional, add effects, gradients or items!
Here is a lovely Mae Maezes as evil elmo from my Bergentruck animation XD
You can get the pixel art of Minecraft textures from the Minecraft Wiki! That's how I got the honey bottle I mean mead (on our way to kill Nominalgravy amiright lads)
I'll explain step two of the expressions a bit more. Here I have pixel art of some lovely eyes. I added them in the canvas after resizing them using lospec, I used the second transformation mode and made the corners of the perspective reach each corner of the face and I adjusted it until it looked right. I also did the perspective part with the other stuff such as the wings!
There's also this scene part where you can control the direction of the point of light aka sun. You can also use the floor and background but I prefer to use ibis for that. You can change the color of the directional light (the big bright light) and the ambient light (overall lighting and color) you can also make your avatar hold items but I prefer to do that in ibis too
You'll notice I said I'd share templates and that's because you can copy and save poses through a line that saves the values in the scalers and lighting. That's basically that! I'll share those and any pixel art I've made to use in it.
It's pretty similar to photobashing imo and people seem to be fans of this stuff so I thought I'd share. Alot of people think they're not capable of art because they don't have the skill, talent or time but I think if you just have the motivation to start you can make something amazing. Even if it's bad at the start. There's so many talented fans in these communities, I know you're capable of more and I'll be cheering from here for you to create anything you want!
Next tutorial post, I'll be covering how to animate using these images, I'll edit this post and link to it once I do! If you want to create or want others to create please do share this around! Because that's all I really want, the mcyt community's been through enough lately. What you create can be great too, even as a beginner. Also feel free to use the tag #mcyt renders , I'll be looking for any creations there hehe Stay safe and love yourself fellas!! ā„ļøā¼ļøš„š«¶
